35 years ago Carlos mesmerized a new generation of loyal fans. I had several opportunities to meet the man. The most humble kind and passionate man and player ever to grace many music lovers soul.
Graham Lear and Chester Thompson really stand out on this one...One of thousands of great concerts by Carlos..finally appearing on CZcams. Fantastic line-up, as Carlos always puts the best performance and musicians together.Wow!
I saw them in 86 with buddy miles such a great concert ive seen santana 4 more times since then love him R.I.P buddy miles you were a brilliant musician.
I totally agree with you, I did not know that Buddy is such a talented musician. His guitar skill is comparable to Carlos. I heard he played drums and his vocals is very strong powerful. One of the most underrated musician of all times. I think is one of the best concerts of Santana on youtube. Lately I saw his concerts, but he lacked the enthusiasm and energy like he did in this concert, a bit lethargic because he is getting older. Buddy Miles and Carlos are the best combinations of all times like a DYNAMITE or FIREWORKS that never ceases. AMIN.
Good Heaven's yes wolfango amadeo!!! He's from my hometown of London, Ontario, by way of London, England, and yes his work with Santana, and Gino Vannelli before that, is really unparalleled.
Huh? what do you mean this album? this show is from 1987 (the date in the title is wrong), but it was never released as an official album. This was the supporting tour for the 1987 album "Freedom". Samba Pa Ti came out way back in 1970 on the Abraxas album. Unless you mean the live version here in this show?
Buddy Miles was a great drummer but this was the first time I ever saw him play the guitar. He was left handed and if you look closely you'll see that he was playing a regular right handed guitar strung for right hand playing yet being left handed he was playing it in reverse with the strings upside down. Amazing. You have to be thinking in reverse to play like that. Lol!!!
My cousin was in Buddy's band in the mid to late 1980's and when they toured Northern California I went with them. Buddy would do a bit where he would get out from behind the drums, grab his guitar then solo for about 20 minutes. It was a bit long :) My cousin just did a tribute to Buddy with Joe Bonamassa on the vocals and guitar, Simon Philips on drums and Ernest Tibbs on bass playing Them Changes
Was also a brilliant vocalist.Crazy as an outhouse mouse.Fun guy.First guy that I ever met who traveled with a full enterouge. They would walk into a bar at about 11 pm and just take over the place .Twenty or so cats, most of them as big or bigger than he...something to see.
One of the most diverse performances i ever heard by Carlos and Santana . And the inclusion of Buddy Miles as a soul singer really diversified the music
Great to finally see a solo performance of the great Alphonso Johnson . If there was ever an unsung bass talent, this man is it. Great musician and educator. Santana had some great Bass players, Myron Dove, Benny Reitveld and of course the great Dave Brown , but man, Alphonso set Santana on fire too.
this is probably the best i have ever heard Carlos live . although woodstock's soul sacrifice is one of the greatest live rock performances ever but mostly for the percussion and the drummer Michael Shrieve
during Woodstock Carlos was still a novice on the guitar, he was only 22. At this concert he reached the pinnacle of his guitar skills with much better improvisations and way better techniques. lately I saw him live at Casino Rama Canada, however his performance was so so , as a matter of fact I was a bit sleepy because he lacked energy.
There’s been nobody better for 50 years dammit Carlos was in his prime this show most of this band was on the brothers album along with Jorge I think it’s his best that and caravanserai they are my two favorite albums
me sorprende escuchar a Buddy tocando guitarra.... y como la toca....!!!!!!!!... y ala compañia del chaman... que duo mas genial... desde Stgo, Chile... para todos los amantes d esta musica...
I saw the band at the Hammersmith Odeon, London on this tour and was blown away when he played this as part of the set....such a marvellous rendition of a beautiful tune from my favourite film of all time #diedandgoneto heaven :) P & L x
Saw them '86 in the west-part of Berlin (Deutschlandhalle, which had an awful acoustic). The (forbidden) recording i made with a Walkman was a gift to Buddy Miles years later, when he celebrated his 30-year stage-anniversary (in relation to Hendrix's Band of Gypsies) at the Miles-Club in east-Berlin in 2000. Nice Flashback!
Buddy was just amazing, when he was "on". What a voice. Like some many other greats, the drugs controlled him. This version of the Santana band is just smoking hot. Carlos makes it look easy.
Back in his Fusion days. Love it. Much better than "Smooth" 😆 Carlos was playing his ass off. And his tone was better- back before he became allergic to treble. Sounds like he had been listening to a lot of Jeff Beck.
my first great real estate success caused me to go to vera cruz i play the freedom album daily... shook buddys hand at arlington guitar show saw his band way long ago..saw freedom show in houston ,me and Carlos saw the same ufo in ann arbor
Carlos Santana played at PeachTreeN.C, 73 and I dont think I ever saw anyting like it---he was inspired and played the Overture the Tahitian Revolt and there were fire works his & their original band and he wore a white suit---He is one of the guitar gods, and hats off to Buddy, love his Down By The RiverSong NeilYoungs ctually.but he is quite a blues man---great team wpould have loved to have been there.its quite a fete to be great artists as they.....
Definitely a f***in good band. And a excellent video he's ripping though his guitar in that song *Hong Kong blues* him and the drummer .buddys vocals are right on soulful rockin blues. didn't no he could play. Guitar he plays it well ✌✌✌🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥✌✌✌

Ladies and gentlemen, the king of fusion at his finest.
Carlos is amazing, that wonderful hair, intune with the cosmos

I like this song Samba PA TI it was my brother's favorite song 2 I was 13 when I heard this song in 1969 and I'm 65 now
Didn’t know Buddy could play such excellent guitar!
I didn't know until I saw a clip of some gig he played in the early 90's. And just like Jimi, he's a lefty too!

Good Heaven's yes wolfango amadeo!!! He's from my hometown of London, Ontario, by way of London, England, and yes his work with Santana, and Gino Vannelli before that, is really unparalleled.
I agree in joining Santana he was given the freedom to improvise and express himself . What he didn’t have with Gino Vanelli
Whn this album came out I think I had gone to heaven whn I heard samba pa ti yes I am tht old still loving Carlos. Music

What a concert!! I feel so much love all over the hall. Beautiful all the way.
Buddy’s always been so funny while being so serious😂 it’s like he said “tonight I’m Freddie king!” 😂
