Thanks. These are exactly the features we need Microsoft working on (along with bug fixing of course!) Not major GUI redesigns where buttons are moved around for no reason or window corners are changed. STUFF LIKE THIS!
Leave the UI redesign for the client Windows. Specifically - rewriting the shell alltogether.
Nice to see improvements on Windows Server, I would certainly like to see the Windows Store being available for those with mixed Workstation use and remote desktop plus boot from a better filesystem than NTFS, eg. ZFS/ReFS with options to have parity/more complex setups and be as easy and it should be because right now storage spaces just does not work the easy way out of the box through server manager on 2022 in fact since 2019, 2016 used to work though..
Does the NVME optimization apply for SATA SSDs?
Does upgrading from Server 2022 to Server 2025 have license implications? ARe Windows server updates going to become free, like Windows 10 to 11 was/is? It's nice that it's possible, but if the cost is $$$$ then I'd rather not. Even worse, if it's trivial to perform the update by someone who doesn't understand the cost and license ramifications for an organisation it could be a massive problem.
.Net security patches are frequent, every month or other month, so hot-patching won't work. So that needs to be fixed. Besides, Windows sometimes has memory leaks, or applications do, so a monthly reboot has some other uses besides patching.
Bluetooth Stack and WinGet, after dancing with a tambourine, already work in Windows Server 2016, 2019 and 2022. But why was it cut out from there? Better tell me whether Microsoft Store will work out of the box, or at least after installation via WinGet. Still, some driver control software already work via UWP
Is there any chance to see improvemenst for linux guests? Wayland is still lacking. Our developers are using linux which is sometimes problematic with hyper-v
What about Hyper-v usb devices passthrough to vm?
Why would you want to do that?
SR-IVO?
Hyper-v is not a home play tech it's an enterprise piece of software.
@@elalemanpaisa
In my opinion Hyper-V is the best one out there.
I've been working with VMWare, Xen, OpenStack, KVM.... in enterprises since it has been invented.
Check Windows Virtual Server 2005 just for fun.. it was a glimpse in the current future, sadly 64bit wasn't available back then as a mainstream platform..
The most IDIOTIC "feature" in W2022 / W2025 HV is the "elimination" of LBFO with SET on virtual switches.
People read something on the internet and think hyper-v is dead because the free version didn't get an update
Hotpatching requires a monthly subscription. Of course it does, sigh.
So, so, so, so, so.. Could you please reduce the number of "so"? It's an awful presentasjon-killer.
yet ms decided to put copilot ai bloat into server. garbage system
As of the latest information available, Copilot is **not included** in Windows Server 2025. It was initially present in an early build. but has since been removed.
@@wiredcanuck nice. looking forward to put it on my workstation when it's finally released
