Fire Emblem Character Spotlight: Wolt
Wolt is a playable character in Fire Emblem: The Binding Blade. He is the son of Rebecca, and a sworn retainer of House Pherae. He is one of Roy's closest friends, and is quite dedicated to him.
The identity of his father is left ambiguous, so it could be the archer Wil, the Pheraean cavalier Lowen, the Caelin cavalier Sain, or an unknown character.
Apparently, he is not very confident in his role as one of Roy's allies, though his superior, Marcus, assures him that being Roy's friend is an invaluable role for providing moral support.
He makes a very brief cameo in Chapter 6 and 17 of the Hasha no Tsurugi manga.

Hey guys. This is another video I’ve had close to finished for a while, but I never got around to completing it. To those of you who don’t know, Wolt was the absolute star of my recent Binding Blade Ironman, and I promised you guys a spotlight of him if he ended up killing Zephiel, which he did. So here you go, please enjoy!

I'd say there's actually some merit to Marcus's statement that Eliwood had no one around his own age. In the Blazing Blade epilogue, Hector says that they haven't seen each other in 15 years. So that's a 15 year time gap where he has no one. Their C support states they've been sparring once every 2 months, but that would still mean they only see each other once every 60 days. Remember that they have responsibilities in area's that are a decent distance away from each other. In contrast, Wolt lives in the same territory, so he and Roy obviously have way more opportunities to spend time together.
The Sacaen culture is largely based on real life Mongolian culture. The Mongols would put their children on horseback as soon as possible in order to get them accustomed to it. Sometimes they even became equestrians before they could properly walk.
Because shooting on foot is way different than shooting from horseback, I don't doubt that they might practice solely from horseback

Ah the glory of newer fire emblem games I know mango wants a potential Binding Blade remake to be as true to the original as possible but I think there is alot that can be improved in this game as it introduced many ideas that got refined by future games so I want some big changes that rebalances things so ur half of ur army dont end up sucking

Wolt is basically proving Mekkah's Bases Over Growths.
How's that? Mangs mentions several times how Wolt is terrible at base but can be good with decent level ups and opportunities for kills.
Wolt is usable, not good.

Rebecca was Roy's wet nurse? Damn, that explains why both Wolt and Roy had such awful bases. Joking aside, I always use archers cause I love bows, even if they are trash compared to using a 1-2 range weapon, something is so satisfying with watching those damn end game wyvern lords get taken down from the skies with arrows.

Despite being pretty bad as a unit, I always liked Wolt, and his support with Marcus was really good. I've only used him once in an actual playthrough but I'm a fan of his design and support conversations.

Never thought I missed hearing an intro so much. I always loved these Character Spotlights, Xander's being my favorite, and this one is no different. These show just how invested you are in this series.
Honestly, I would request a Claude one in the future, but considering what you did to him in your playthrough because he obviously wasn't your favorite lord, I request Dimitri. :)

Hey Mangs, I was going to comment on your first Fire Emblem post back ASAP, but I’ve been working late so my sleep schedule is flipped and it’s almost 6pm in where I live. But your content, in particular anything fire emblem related has kept me, and thousands of others going. I picked up the series back in 8th grade and was looking for creators who were heavily invested in the series as I wanted to be. As I grew older I got to enjoy more and more of what you make, and if kept me from really going off the edge in high school, and now that I’ve just graduated a few months ago, amongst all this COVID-19 shit going on in America the summer felt like a waste, but your return has been among the most pleasant things I’ve experienced this year. Watching this spotlight has made me want to play through Binding Blade again. I did once already, but I got frustrated at certain points and didn't enjoy it as much as I thought I would, but I feel like I owe it another shot.

I don’t know if this is just my impression, but is it only me or these two videos Mangs has put out so far have been a lot more... lighthearted? I’m not saying the others were bad or anything, but any CZcamsr making videos they like about things they like always puts me in a good mood.
I love Binding Blade, and I've always enjoyed making Binding Blade spotlights, so maybe my voice reflects that.

I really like Wolt, but people usually just see him as funny brazen atk/spd 4 fodder. Even still, he's one of my favorite characters and I'm glad you finally got around to him.

I think that your experience with Wolt exemplifies classic Fire Emblem very well. Every playthrough is unique in a way. You probably didn't think much of Wolt initially, but it took only that one experience to make him more memorable to you. I understand you will not be going back to daily uploads right away, but I am looking forward to it.

Sue might be more accustomed to shooting a bow from horseback rather than on foot. She can still shoot on foot, but it will come as a bit alien for her, since she's used to do so more on horseback.

Yep it is refreshing to see someone wanting to become a better person after being in the eye of the storm. This year, there have been so many people in prominent positions making countless mistakes, and no one's taking responsibility for anything. Nice to know at least one person is taking responsibility here.

Maybe Claude? I felt like he was one of the more interesting lord designs in Fire Emblem with a different personality and a focus on bows and a unique promotion class.

You should start including every character's iterations in heroes as a small segment. Maybe how their skills relate to their performance in their original games and, like you did, how their voice lines make reference as well

Hey mangs I dont normally comment, but I've been lurking for quite a few years now, and I have to say when you said you were leaving CZcams I genuinly felt like something was missing from life even though I dont actually know you haha...i watched you pretty much throughout my entire college career and those years were ridiculously tough on me but your videos made everything easier they allowed me to forget all of my woes and reminded me to just chill out and enjoy some fire emblem haha...you made some mistakes but who hasn't? They dont define us, and I thought you weren't given a proper chance to defend yourself. Im ecstatic that your back man it honestly gave me a sense of normalcy again in these trying times. FInally ill end with I was never really a part of the fe community at large but I've always been a part of the mangs community

Am late, but I also finished my ironman run of FE6, and Wolt is among my Top 5 MVP, albeit he was the 5th placer. But regarding that my Top 4 spots are all units with Hard Mode bonuses (Rutger, Perceval, Milady and Gonzales), Wolt can stand proud as the only MVP in my ironman run that didn't receive any Hard Mode bonuses.
A poetic end for a unit normally classed as garbage.

I’m glad you touched on the value of bow users in FE6. Imo FE6 has the best balance for Archers, making them fantastic player phase units with better physical 1-2 range than other classes with plenty of fliers and other scary enemies to deal with, while still keeping that dreaded lack of an enemy phase. Much better and a more interesting way of buffing archers and giving them a useful niche than just slapping 1 rng on them like SoV/3H.
I’m playing Advance wars for the first time right now (I wonder what could have caused that?) and the ranged units in it remind me a lot of FE6 archers, no one else (besides mages in FE’s case) can do their job quite as well as them yet they can’t do the job of frontliners either.

It's nice to see some appreciation to Wolt.
In my first playthrough I find useful paring him with Roy, because both aren't capable of using them offensively and don't get too punish until their promotion.
After seeing just FEH videos as the entire 'content' that fire emblem community creates and then seeing a new character spotlight i just instinctively said "finally, some good fucking food"
I mean, say what you will about Wolt, but he is free for several maps. So even if you only use him a handful of times, he's still contributing more than many other members of the roster.
Well in the 3 lord in blazing sword, eliwood had the most different personality being the least likely to fight.
I can't believe I completely forgot about it, but even by title alone it feels absolutely wild. He surely does deserve this, though.
It was good getting another one of these spotlights. Your scripted content is some of the best you've put out. I hope that you continue on this series more frequently. It's really good!
