    I always thought it was a lot deeper than that.
    Is there another video of them going under the bridge to the other side? That would be cool.

      @@menphues The other side of the bridge is the conservation side and as such we are not allowed to dive in that area. Here is some video swimming around on the bottom under the bridge; czcams.com/video/vSBHMxmDC9M/video.htmlsi=_Ipvy4Hnb5IXr0mA

    Hi Mark. Great videos sir. I enjoy watching the fish in Cosmeston and your underwater footage of carp, and eels is superb. I see lots of roaches and Rudd, and the carp and eels sometimes, but I'm always told that there are lots of pike there too, although I've never seen any. I'm wondering if you've seen them during your diving expeditions there. The official website says there are pike in there, as I said, many people have told me the same, but I'm wondering if this may just be apocryphal. Let me know sir. Ray Thompson.

      Cosmeston is 9 metres deep, I've never dived Barry Dock, the Port Authority banned diving in there a few years ago :-(

    So all the weeds drowning people are not real then? Bit shocked no fish on film as i thought lights attracted them.
    Guess its a health and safty issue why no swimming allowed anymore

      We use Cosmeston Lake as our local training site. I've dived it well over 200 times, amounting to over 130 hours on the bottom. believe me there is nothing in there, bar a few old bicycles and the remains of a 1979 Ford Cortina ;-)

    why is there a rope going across the lake bed?

    • @MarkGosling
      @MarkGosling  Před 10 lety

      The rope is actually a heavy duty cable that was connected to an emergency public telephone on the other side of the lake. The phone was vandalised many times until it was removed and mobile phones became more commonplace.
      The cable runs from the park wardens office near the entry slipway, across the lake past a dumped car, so an ideal navigation assistant if it's not buried in the silt.

      Mark Gosling you say its 9m deep wiki(witch i know is not the most reliable) said some parts of the quarry are 20 m deep?

    • @MarkGosling
      @MarkGosling  Před 10 lety

      I have dived here over 200 times and only found 2 areas that are 9 metres deep! One of them is the sump near the bridge, where the pumps used to be when it was a working quarry. I think its depth has been greatly exaggerated over the years. ;-)

      To be fair, there is an awful lot of weed in the 2m - 5m zones which is where most of the fish hang out. Swimming in those areas in scuba gear means you come out looking like a Christmas tree, with weed hanging off every sticky out bit of kit. The only exception seems to be in the shallow areas around where we get in and out because the swans and ducks seem to eat it. Bear in mind also this is the middle of winter and everything has died back compared to the summer when people are more likely to go swimming :-)

      People are still swimming in there, despite some losing their lives...
