- The weather was changeable, but I managed to do everything I planned. I insulated the stove pipe so it wouldn't heat up the wall, made some planks, and made a comfortable bench. I made a bird feeder out of scraps of planks, which is not very nice, but it does its job. It's winter outside, and the dugout is warm.

Dugout is coming along great! You wouldn't loose so much heat if ya filled the gaps in the door, you can see daylight plum through it. Just an observation.

Don’t know where you live but my grandpa had a sawmill in the Appalachian mountains of Ky they had a mill shack he’d live in during the week , one morning he got up and in his wood for his stove was a big rattlesnake, it was summer and the stove was just for cooking.

Very nice video, and great skills! I'm impressed by how you cut those planks so evenly, working freehand with a chain saw. But I wonder why you raised your stove? Warm air rises, and cold air sinks. So raising the stove makes it harder to heat the lower part of the cabin. You may find that you're comfortable when you stand up, but chilly when you sit or lie down; and your feet may be cold all the time.
The oven has short legs. If I leave it without a stand, the floor may catch fire, and I don’t want to put something under the bottom

How did you get this property? When I was young I always wanted to do something like this. I looked at different properties, all in the 20 to 30 acre size. I just could never afford the half million dollars to close the deal. Also I would not want to pay the twenty to thirty grand a year for taxes. Now that I'm in my seventies, and could get the land this all looks like way too much work.
I don't have much land. Yes, it's not cheap, but it's real. Lots and lots of work!

Hi Roma. New viewer and my 3rd in a row. I first watched the 2 hr construction video. When you install steps, I hope you terrace ledges with shale rock and stabs/slices of logs for outdoor shelves. You can place plants, flowers, candles, a bird feeder, a thermometer all around your steps that way.
