  • In today's episode we introduce our LHD jazz blue bora 4motion 3.2 vr6 engine swap addition to the channel. I talk about the neat features that this JDM spec jetta got, that our north american jettas did not, as well as the parts and modifications required to bolt in this touareg 3.2 vr6 into our trans

    Awesome vid my man! I have the same setup BAA motor at the machine shop right now getting rebuilt and freshened up. Can’t wait to drop it into my RHD mk3 vr6 golf. Had it shipped over from the UK to the states. Very informative video. You brought up some good points that I was unaware of. Much appreciated. Plz keep more vids like this coming !!!

    If you find a 2004 vw toureg 3.2 some of them come with the bolt holes already threaded through the block for the swap. The engine code is BAA. I also have a mk4 gti with a 3.2 swap

    Very cool specced car!
    The dipping rear view mirror only works if the mirror knob is set to the "R" passenger mirror on the switch, (looks like it was on the "L" in the video, so that's why they didn't work at the time)
    Also, the headlight washers will only work if the actual low beams are switched on and you have to hold the washer lever for a few seconds longer than just squirting the windscreen.

    Oh wow, a LEFT hand drive 4mo Bora from Japan? That's mighty rare - they have plenty of RHD models on offer there.
    The Japanese market VWs all seem to be kitted out with some of the better, if not best options - the seats, folding mirrors, xenon headlights, headlight washers, etc.
    @14:00 minute mark, you're talking about the airbox and MAF:
    I am in the midst of scanning the Audi TT DSG airbox parts (aka, the Euro market R32+DSG airbox) with the larger 85mm MAF and the larger intake snorkel for the lower half.
    The plan being: scan my stock airbox revisions. Then I take the models, and make "difference" patches to 3dprint. And then attempt to graft that to a stock airbox.
    Seems like a better (long-term) solution than paying hundreds for "airbox made of plastic that is 90% the same as your stock airbox also made of just plastic".
    I'm mainly a TDI mk4 sorta guy, so I'm more ignorant of the VR6 variations. But, more than willing to help sort a solution out, after I work out the foibles and kinks on mine. I imagine the 2.8 and 3.2L VR6 airboxes were fitted with a larger MAF than on my car.

      Definitely people would pay for that upgraded snorkely piece, would be sick!

      I did try to graft the R32 MAF into a 2.8 airbox, which worked but the real trouble was figuring out an intake tube that would fit from TB to MAF. The TB is 3.25", I think the MAF is 3? Wasn't able to find a solution that would reach and fit proper so, we have a floating pod filter.

      @@thirdgeargrind8033 I figure folks that have R32s that want to go back to stock, or this OEM+ DSG airbox/snorkel would. Thus far, I have the Airbox, MAF, and one of the two pieces behind the headlight. Last time I saw a full set for sale was January. :|
      The other two parts are "No Longer Available" at dealers in N.America, Europe, and VW Classic Parts isn't selling them any longer.
      Backup plan is to reverse enginerd the two parts. But: first the airbox

      @chrstphrr Před 7 měsíci

      @@thirdgeargrind8033 the MAF on the Audi TT with "V6" and DSG is 85mm, not 76mm. So.... 3.25"-ish, vs 3"?
      The part number for that 85mm housing/element is now 07D-906-461.
      It's pretty common - found on the 3.2L VR6s that had the DSG, the 3.6L VR6 (coff "V6"), the W8 and, I believe, the R8's motor too.

    My god the spec of this car is perfect 😍 Except RHD would be better for me.
    I see them crop up in auctions a couple of times a month in Japan but they’re usually silver. When a Jazz Blue V6 in decent condition pops up, if I have the space I’m gonna be all over it.
    The JDM V6s don’t seem to have many/any options, - it seems the standard V6 spec includes xenons, leather Recaros, sunroof, chrome GLI trim etc. Here in the UK the 4Motion can come with basic cloth Sport seats, no sunroof and no xenons.
    What a car, can’t wait to see more videos on it! Does the owner have instagram?
    Great video btw, very informative and will be useful when I finally get my hands on one and need more power 😂

    Anyone know if the 2.8 12v VR6 wiring harness will work for a 24v 2.8 or 3.2? I want to swap a newer VR6 into my 2000 VR6 GTI

    A couple years ago you did a video on your vr6 turbo costs, and said you planned on doing a video in what most people should get. Do you still plan on doing that?

    Did you swap the dash? If it was a JDM car it would be right hand drive right?

    • @thirdgeargrind8033
      @thirdgeargrind8033  Před 2 měsíci +1

      Dash is original, most of these examples are RHD however this is a rare factory LHD spec, as it was considered trendy in Japan to have LHD cars.

    How about gearbox? Which one you installed?

      VR6 02m, which this particular 4motion bora already came standard with. If you have a 1.8t you'll need to source a VR6 02m.
