  • Christmas came in August for me this year! After waiting 7 months on the order queue, and 3 months in production, I finally received two of the nicest hand saws I've ever seen. Shane Skelton is a skilled saw maker in England who hand-makes a range of hand saws using the finest materials and excellent craftsmanship. I couldn't be more pleased with the two saws he made for me.
Note: this video is not sponsored and I purchased these saws myself. I made this video because of how pleased I am with my purchase and to bring some attention to a small business and an exceptional tool maker.
I ordered two saws from Shane:
The London Long Stroke 10 ¾” Fine Dovetail Saw, which is
for cutting lap dovetails. The saw has a fine tooth pattern that enables the cutting of thinner stock right down to jewelery box size. Its higher hang allows the user to cut from horizontal up to 45° whilst still feeling natural in the hand.
The Arc saw is uniquely designed with an upturned handle so that your knuckles don’t get in the way when using the saw. With an exceptionally fine profile and having no set and cutting on either the pull or push stroke, the Arc cuts using a rolling motion and the user is able to maintain great control. Another great feature of this nimble little saw is that you can cut out sections and not always have to work from end to end thus allowing you to inlay a small section. Super for cutting to a point, this backed veneer & inlaying saw is highly tensioned. It is therefore rigid, and having a fine kerf one can slice some thin cuts that are notably smooth straight off the saw.
I was able to specify the wood species for both saws, and the dovetail saw handle was custom-fit to my hand via a traced outline of my hand that I sent to Shane.

With a saw this nice, the dovetails should cut themselves!
