Maybe im missing something, but cant this "pocket companion" be an app on my phone that already has all the hardware necessary to do those things? Why is another device necessary?
Well, I think the first section of the video is explaining what you’re talking about, and how they want to shift away from the current model which is the touch screen smart phone - lots of apps and unnecessary weight.
What they want to create is a device that doesn’t require a visual digital interface to function, and navigates and runs all your apps on its own.
So yes, it could be an app, but this company gives the “app” all the hardware and operating power.
it’s an AI OS with its own dedicated hardware, that is not focusing on a screen to function. Like the movie “Her”.
Just a different idea to counter the current norm.
But it does require a visual didgital login just not on the same device yet on another hence rendering it as usefull as a mobile microphone... Oh wait its called a smart phone!
@@AllTimeTech12there you are again. I agree it's a proof of concept more than a real product but you keep on saying that logging in to apps separately makes this a useless device. It's obviously not a smartphone and meant to be used differently. Obviously if all you need ai for is making grocery lists then this product isn't for u
You have to login to the apps on your phone already. It seems like you're really scratching at the bare minimum for disliking this device. You login to the apps one time on another device and with a little work, if you have an office job, this thing could do the entire job for you through their learning feature. I can see this thing taking all the effort out of my workday and getting me away from being glued to my phone screen. If you can't handle just logging into apps, then why are you here?
@lorenzogiancristofaro9721 You have to login to the apps on your phone already. It seems like you're really scratching at the bare minimum for disliking this device. The problem I have is he never shows when he booked the demo trip. Looking at the camera and acting like youre pressing on the device saying confirm, confirm, confirm. Is disingenuous and trying people intelligence and yet they still sold 10k in the first day. I think ill sit on the sideline and watch how this plays out.
People noticed all that it’s just that it is shipping in 2 months, the price is low enough, and the design is still nice enough (Thank you TE) for people to be comfortable to take the risk. Plus no subscription needed. If there is a pocket companion for anyone curious to try this year it probably should be this. Why go for any of the ones that need a subscription or are at least double the price of the r1?
@@otterdonnelly9959TE?
They sold them because people buy marketing. That's why so many kick starter/gofundme scams work. Suckers
@@otterdonnelly9959 Exactly. This is basically an AI toy that integrates with your current lifestyle toys, but has a new flavor to it. I think people are okay with it being just that - particularly at the price point of a one-night stay at a hotel.
Plus, people want to be in on the ground floor of the next Apple, or Bitcoin.
Seems like a potentially fun gadget at the very least. At that point, the risk/cost is fairly justifiable.
@otterdonnelly9959 then i will nothing choice
This is a great idea, to me. But it shouldn't be another brick in your pocket. It needs to evolve into some sort of wearable. Either a watch or glasses.
Agreed!
czcams.com/video/nZcBZKC7OIA/video.htmlsi=cTJdYiziQFS-ZFXZ
The form factor looks small enough that you could attach a strap and make it a watch.
Spot on
Glasses? I think another brick is less annoying...
Not everybody wears watch as well
@@karolo.905 You would honestly rather carry two bricks around instead of your phone and a wearable?
Interesting idea, but i wonder if a social aspect has been overlooked: many (most?) people dont want others to know everything they are doing on their device. If you have to vocalize everything, then everyone around you will know what you're doing.
there is a keyboard too, not analog, but if you shake the device, a keyboard appears on screen, and you can type instead of speak.
I remember Steve Jobs saying "sounds like solution looking for a problem"
yeah, i keep trying to understand what it's trying to make easier
@@federico0439ㅋㅋㅋㅋㅋㅋ lol
Yes I do
Can’t this just be an app?
I am wondering why this isn't just another app but for that price I'm happy to buy just to check out how LAM works. I expect it'll be superceded in a year or so and I'm fine with that.
security issue, but its ok to build in smartphone os and this is what android last/this year just did or will did soon
The hype for this is crazy to me. The device seems to me a joke
Fr fr
Its a software company more than a hardware. Your phone with certain tweaks could do that too (IMO). Wait until they get this on app store.
“As easy as confirm, confirm, confirm” *doesn’t actually film the screen to show how “seamless” that process is
I agree
Its no joke -- this is a breakthrough and very exciting -- if you learn about the tech this reallly is truly awesome
awesome it's almost like having a phone...
I like the concept, but Apple, Samsung, and Amazon will likely gobble it up. Siri, Bixby, and Alexa to become AI planners.
Some.businesses are made through purpose that some big company buys them and founders ceos.make money
I think these guys overlooked the existing smartphones everyone has.
So it can do all the things my phone already can, but now I have to carry around two devices lol
Exactly. This should be just a software addition on phones.
Does your phone have "teaching abilities" not chatgpt...I will wait.
Your phone and any other large language models can only do these things if you manually do them.
@@steeleforce13 What's stopping Apple from just integrating this into the iPhone's with an update?
You literally stole my words 🤣🤣🤣
I think rather than creating competition, Rabbit and Humane could be really good for each other if they create an ecosystem of APIs for other services to interact with these simple-to-use devices
Great pricing and good to see focus on privacy. Are there any other 'subscription' on top of the $199 as there seems to be a cloud component to the processing. Will it work without wifi? (for questions that don't need internet agent)
It requires its own SIM card, which you must organise yourself, adding a monthly cost but breaking it away from WiFi or phones
Privacy have issue, the specs can't handle ai, so model is not running locally. They are using cloud so whatever I speak they have data
No extra subscriptions other than your SIM plan.
This looks incredinly better than the humane ai pin, although I'd still want a keyboard. I don't want to say all my searches aloud lol
It has a touchscreen keyboard, if that's what you mean

The shape is kinda awkward and voice of the A.i not that realistic conpared to chatgpt and pi A.I, rverything else seems promising though. I really like getting rid of most apps and integrating everything into one and letting the A.I actually finish orders and tasks for you.
I know this is wild, but imagine for a moment the Ai R1 Rabbit device works perfectly and ships on time. And no, you dont have to speak to it, it has a typeable keyboard, it's just easy to speak. And no, it can't be an app. The app stores do not allow one app to control all other apps at this time. And no, your smartphone can't do this stuff, even with ChatGPT.
Now tell me why you hate it, and remember, this is imagining that it completely works as advertised.
Good point about controlling other apps. That's a key feature for me and I think for them as well.
Wow whats this I have, siri, wow its an amazing new ai companion thats supper revolutionary.
@fast-toast Please ask siri to call you an Uber and see what it calls you ever time you speak to it from now on
I don't hate it, I just think it's not going to work out. You do much more things on your phone than just interact with a limited number of apps which Rabbit R1 might support. Even on the apps it supports, there would be extra layers of frustration related to it not doing exactly what you want.
Also, contrary to what the presenter was saying, I actually don't get frustrated using my phone, they're already well optimized, and tapping a screen is far quicker than explaining what you want to an AI through natural language. I can book an Uber right now in under a minute and be sure the pickup location and destination are exactly what I want, even if it something other than "Home" or "Work".
@SharatS That's a great answer. I agree with you. I think, especially at the start, it'll be a fun device that will allow me to leave my smartphone at home when going out in the city I live in and still have the functionalities I require to get home if I have too much fun drinking and showing it off to everyone I can lol. I have wanted a "dumb" phone for years, but there's nothing good enough or cheap enough that has interested me in using it. This is cool enough and still does so much, that this is the replacement I plan to use, and I also hope to use the teaching functions to assist me with a lot of office work I do at home. I think for me, it will be everything I want. But there's a lot of people who will still just want their smartphones as I and all the other "beta" testers try it out.
What happens when Google Assistant or Siri introduce a feature to integrate with other on-device apps? It seems like the only thing separating this is a “transition away from user interfaces”. But it relies on user interfaces to work…
Theres a niche for single dedicated devices - think smart watches
@@christianf21 smart watches have a function and don't fill your pockets. You already have a phone in your pocket, now you're adding this? Dumb
once. you have to use it once
People are too skeptical...yet ungrateful and never satisfield. Why even comment if youll cry later then another year and after.
I'm not ready for this because all of these functions are on my phone, there just is another device to take care of. How do you know that you get the best deal out of the plane tickets, etc...?
Let's have a hardware device for every app we have in our smartphone, totally a scam, I dont know how an idea like this was taken seriously by investors.

Its so funny we started technology with veryz few features available now we are overwhelmed and new companies focusing on going back to get us access to what we need only as we figured that we don’t need so much technology in our daily life. I remember how excited I used to be when a new software gets released now there’s millions of SW and all subscription based. Humans are so funny they always do that.
I love it and I think that all mobile phones OEM will eventually have a button like this and this optional mode of operation. But I would say that cute lovely look and hassle free interface with functionality/utility-focuses features makes it unique and desirable especially for those who crave simplicity and calmness in life. I would buy it and drop my phone in a heart beat.
iPhones, and some android phones just require pressing the power button to access their assistant/Siri..the difference is just ai and how it can set up things for you faster..but carrying way too many devices in your pocket is already a negative for it..sounds like a small smartphone with a scroll and a tiny screen imo..
@@xxbryan2 I would pick it over my smartphone to avoid time suckers like FB. It is just a simple device that has only the basic utilities with and advanced AI voice interface. I would pick it over a smart phone in my case although it is not meant to compete with it.
@@Mo.Fariedmaybe you would, but most people won’t. I hate the idea of having to talk to do anything with an interface.
@@LeftOfBori Yes sure, then they won't buy it. It is not something mandatory to buy or use>
@@Mo.Faried but that’s pretty necessary if you want a device that is both successful and continuously updated. This thing is probably gonna die with version 1
We have been using the archaic idea of machine control panels with lights and bottons as user interfaces for our modern apps. Finally somebody wants to break through and interact with your apps in a natural way, like you would on the phone with an agent.
Let's race: you will call an agent and I will use buttons and check, who is faster. 🤦♂🤦♂
The entire point of apps is so that we don’t have to talk. Digital natives (I.e. younger generations) navigate apps like second nature.
Absolutely, the evolution of user interfaces is fascinating. The Rabbit R1's approach to a more natural, conversational interaction is an interesting step away from traditional buttons and screens. It's exciting to see how this will influence user experience in the future.
Rabbit R1 is pure magic. The 2.88-inch touchscreen, rotating camera, mediatek processor, and Large Action Model AI make every interaction seamless. The design is not just stylish, but also incredibly functional. A tech marvel.
So its basically taking out Siri from Apple device and modifying it a little bit and putting it in a different hardware.
Do we need to speak to it every time we want to use it? What if we need to go silent, like in a library or other public places where silence is required?
If we have to look at a loading screen for too long every single time, it might confuse the users and compromise a good user experience.
If this could make phone calls, send text, and have bluetooth it would be perfect.
hahaha!
Lol. Almost as if there was something that did that. Oh well, time to waste money.

For everyone that cant handle logging into your apps, how did you expect any device to use all these paid applications? Youre gonna have to login to them. If you cant handle that, how can you use a smartphone? You have to login to the apps on your phone already. With a little work, if you have an office job, this thing could do the entire job for you through their learning feature. I can see this thing taking all the effort out of my workday and getting me away from being glued to my phone screen as a bonus. If you can't handle just logging into apps, then why are you here? Do you just want to dislike something that if is genuine, could make our lives easier while detaching us from the addiction of our devices?
did you not watch the video. You just log into apps once. If you cant handle doing things on your desktop, and need a laptop the WALK AROUND with your computer. Why are you even here.
@@richardgolonka7585You're absolutely right. Not sure what your sentence about laptops and stuff is though, isn't really proper English. Could you re-do that?

@richardgolonka7585 Still don't understand your sentence about laptops though. Are you gonna redo that, or just keep lashing out like a child?
The first example is actually a really bad one. When asked "What is the nature of the [sic] reality?" it gives a total non-answer, which is only marginally better than "As a generative AI, I cannot... blah blah blah." If someone actually wanted to know about the nature of reality, this would not actually help them understand it better in any meaningful way. Not that I would expect this device to unlock the meaning of life or the nature of reality, but they chose this example to start the presentation, and it highlights one of the key weaknesses of the device and LLMs (or an LAM as they call this) in general.
I agree on that! It is like asking the AI, what is the purpose of life and somehow expect to give a groundbreaking answer....
respectfully, i dont think you could've answered this any better
i’m sure the r2 or whatever they’re gonna call it will do better.
@@orieylon That's basically what he is saying. If we as humans can't even answer that question, why ask AI which is built on information from us? In other words, that kind of question was pointless, especially when you are showcasing a product you're selling. However, this does not take away from the overall quality of the product, it was just weird that out of all things to say, he asked it that kind of question.
i dont know if this is the only one you watched but the real demo has the ai talking about what a philospher said and going into real detail. the real demo is 30min long
ah yes, let's move every single thing we do on our phones into The Cloud. this is a great idea with no possible disadvantages. every single one of these devices is immediately going to become useless as soon as they shut down the servers
I mean an iPhone also kinda doesn’t work if the App Store was to go down after a while because apps don’t get updates and might get outdated and stop working.

To me, this is just a much more advanced Voice assistant on your phone. People will still use their phone for social media, internet, CZcams, movies, camera, etc. there is no getting away from that. With all that said, this will simply become a function on your phone, not a separate device! I also think this will be great forth the watch!
Thats price makes it an impulse buy. Very good price.
Anyone know if there are any accessibility features for blind users? I like the idea but how do I get to the confirm button he doesn’t show me in the video.
But why do we need a separate device to do it? Can it all be just integeated into a mobile app?
Im not gonna lie, i like the fastness. i like it a lot
Dont really understand. I can reach any app on my phone on a searchbar with typing max 3 characters. So it is a hw for googling with voice?

This seems a novelty at first glance. Good for booking a quick uber or choosing a music track. But then if it's just a companion device, alongside my phone, I ask it to play music but I'm already wearing earphones linked to my phone, it's not gonna play out of those is it. So might as well just use Google assistant on my phone or watch to play it in the first place!
For more complex things; booking a whole international trip etc, is anyone seriously going to rely on one sentence to book a trip worth thousands. Surely everyone would want to look through hotels and flights and make an informed decision and ensure they're getting a good deal. Also how would you pay for it, I bet this device won't play nicely with my Google pay info!
Actually if they designed this same concept in a watch it might get more take up than another pocket sized device that looks like it was designed by Fisher Price!
This is very interesting, this device will definitely evolve into a smartphone form factor but with build in AI systems.
Yeah, i really like this concept.
But what this device probably needs are more visuals output so people are not confused.

The problem with Siri, Alexa, Bixby becoming more ai relevant is they will be hindered by their own operating systems and their ability to access all the applications across different ecosystems. This is why they created the R1 hardware, to prevent the roadblocks that would come with apple or android os firewalling their ai software.

Where is this supposedly possible on your phone? I can't say, "Hey google, purchase this shopping list from Walmart." Or, "hey Google, edit this document and send it to my boss." Why do people think this is redundant hardware other than cynicism, just not actually looking into or understanding all the features, or just plain resistance??

Why did they choose the guy with the thickest accent to present this?
I can understand every word. And the "guy" is the brains behind the project.
Does it still function as my phone? Can I link it to my Bluetooth helmet?
Finally, an AI assistant that fits in my pocket! But is the Mediatek chip powerful enough for all the cool features they're advertising? Gotta see some reviews!
Enhance your communication experience with the Rabbit R1's mediatek chipset and customizable channels, allowing users to personalize their radio frequencies for group-specific conversations
You’ve *got* to be kidding me. People are buying this thing?
Before, we were so mesmerized by "having things done at the click of a button" but now it's too much effort for us?!! Humans smh

I missed the groundbreaking part.
Imagine a device where instead of a large language model, it has a "large action model" of every action one can take on a smartphone. Now, it can string together actions and complete tasks in the real world.
