    Loved the video, great information but I think you left a few things out like rushing your approach, your eyes drifting off of target or you are looking up at the pins to soon all these things can also cause you to pull the ball and even miss outside your intended target. I've found with my students that when they rush through their approach, they tend to pull the ball more times than not and every once in a while, they'll go outside their mark. I always tell them remember to take the time to get set on the approach and get fully focused in on your target before you start your approach. Next keeping your eyes on target, a lot of bowlers have a big problem with this. When I was young and our dad was teaching us to bowl, he would make us come back and write down where our ball hit on the lane (I make all my students do this today) i.e., were we one or two boards outside or inside our target or did we hit our target? If we couldn't tell him or write down where our ball hit on the lane that meant our eyes drifted or we looked up before we actually thew the ball. While practicing and even during league play or tournaments make it a thing to write down where your ball hit after each throw, after a while you'll be able to make note of it in your brain and you can correct your mistake from there. He taught us to keep our head down and eyes on our target until after we saw the ball get past it's intended target then we could look up to see how the ball shaped down the lane and where it hit or missed in the pocket, and we could adjust accordingly for the next shot. A lot of bowlers think they must look up quickly to see what their ball is doing down lane and where it is hitting in the pocket and that's just not the case. Keep up the great work and I hope this information helps someone who may come along and read these comments. Y'all have a good, safe and blessed weekend.

      I think aiming and focusing on hitting a specific mark leads to bad rolling balls. Looking down lanes helps keep the ball deep and right. Your teaching is basic and outdated.

    I'm a right handed bowler and a pretty big guy. I use the 5 step approach and my coach has me startng with me holding the ball more to my side instead of the ball over the target and with my hips in an open postion before I even take my first step. It has made a world of difference for me keeping the ball in the slot when I let the ball drop into my back swing and follow through. Watching this video, now I see why it's so important to have that room for the ball to swing in the slot freely so you're not rotating your right shoulder over. Thanks fot this video it's a big help.

      Same 4 step bowler here. I found out the hard way that this one bowling alley slide surface is so GD worn out that I pulled a muscle behind my left thigh. I doubt I'll be using those lanes much. Honestly, I can't even think how I'll be able to bowl if 'ALL" the lanes near here are worn out. What I did was buy these really expensive shoes that you can replace the underneath sole and heal if you want. Are you familiar with any of those shoes? I'm trying to get up enough practice to perhaps join a senior league in the summer or something. I have just bought all new equipment, I bowled back in the days of plastic and hard rubber balls, I was in the mid 180's avg. then. I'm way older these days and wanted to take up the sport again. I can't be falling at the foul line or fall forward, I don't know what to do other than these things. Any ideas? I'd love to hear them.

  • @johnwillock6787
    @johnwillock6787 Před 6 měsíci

    Isn’t early/late timing where the ball is when your slide stops? It’s one of the reasons you project the ball onto the lane or into the foul line. I notice of late Nate is quite late and can’t project the ball towards his target, and With Elise instead of getting the ball onto the lane, she releases it at the foul line. Both might be considered pulls. One other thing is that Brenna Clemmer has her off arm out at the side her whole delivery and it rarely gets in front of her, and she’s not bad.

    • @NateandElise
      @NateandElise  Před 6 měsíci

      Pulling the ball is correlated to targeting and if you hit your intended mark. This has nothing to do with how a person physically releases the ball since almost every bowler has their own characteristics to how they release the ball… and ALL can still hit a target. Both Nate and I physically throw it differently off our hand but can both hit a mark 9 times out of 10. All bowlers pull it at some point… these are just ways to fix it!

      Would have to disagree. Timing is merely where your foot is when you are releasing the ball. Unless it is extreme, whatever is natural to the bowler is fine. Suggest you watch Bob Ross video about this. He isd former team USA coach and a gold USBC coach.@@NateandElise
