You guys do realize that he won 7 golds at World Championships last year right? He's proven himself in long course. I think he has a good shot taking down the 50,100 free and 100 fly WR's. He definitely has the talent to take down the 200IM WR but we haven't seen him in a race longer than 100m yet.

In terms of swimming as a whole, yes phelps is the GOAT for now, but Dressel still has a shot. regardless dressel is the best scy swimming ever, no competition.

Dressel is doing the same thing off the walls, doing a very quick body dolphin. Yes, his underwaters are amazing, but there's a reason. I'm not a troll either. Dressel will break MP's WR in the 100 LCM fly and always beat Schooling.

Jalen Stimes he hasn't even closed to 'mastered' breaststroke. He spent more than 70% of this race underwater. He wouldn't even be in the ball park of the world class guys in LCM.
I don't think he can beat Phelps 8 golds, especially if you don't count the mixed medley. 50, 1 free, 1 fly, 400 medley and free relays, maybe 2 IM and 800 free relay if he does those. That's 7 and with the mixed medley 8, but phelps didn't have that. No way he beats peaty long course
We all need to consider the fact that some swimmers are motivated more when the 'other fastest swimmer' is in the pool with them. Dressel may be that kind of swimmer who goes even faster in the lane next to Peaty??
