Just installed a Pioneer MVH-390BT using a Connects2 CTSPG007.2 Steering Wheel Stalk Adapter (came with a free Connects2 CTMULTILEAD.2 patch lead, £36-odd from Dynamic Sounds on eBay). It was all plug and play. I can confirm through following the steps in the product instructions I have access to the menus on the main display (in the centre of the dashboard) via the original stalk control and can adjust the time, rear wiper, daylight running lights etc. Hope this might help someone - it's bothered me for ages!

    Do you know anything about the speaker wiring? As I when I took out the original speakers; the left side had yellow and white and the right red and pink. This confused me somewhat.
    By deduction I assumed the white was positive and the yellow negative as the white wire had a little black symbol on the sheath.
    I also assumed for the right that red was positive and pink negative and the wire supplied with the new speakers the black and white was positive.
    The speakers work fine but there seems to be a flat bass and I now have to turn the unit up to maximum to hear a full sound. I also have my phone up to maximum when playing Deezer through blue tooth.
    Have I wired correctly or are the new speakers now showing up the shortcomings of the Partners factory fitted head unit?
    Any pointers would be a great help. Thank you.

    • @PJsprojects
      @PJsprojects  Před 5 lety

      The simple way to check would be to look at the cable that comes with the aftermarket radio,it will have two grey,two white,two green & two purple for the speakers. The fronts are the white and grey ones and the ones with a black stripe on either the white or grey will be the negative so just follow this through to see what colour it connects with in the iso plug.

    • @grahamd4764
      @grahamd4764 Před 5 lety

      @@PJsprojects Thanks for reply. I am not changing the head unit.
      I forgot to say. I had to cut the original connectors from the old speakers. They were the harness type and the new ones are spade connectors. That's why I got confused as had to connect the new speaker wire onto the existing.
      Thats why I wasn't sure about what was positive and negative because of the said colours I mentioned before. The new wire is ok because the bigger spade is positive and the smaller negative.
      It's the existing colours I am not sure about. I have never come across this before.
      To recap. The left existing speaker wire is White and yellow and the right is pink and red. I was not sure which way round to connect the new wire to them.
      What is positive out of yellow and white on the left speaker and vice versa for red and pink on the right?

      I sat in the car and tried the connection in different positions. When it sounded crappy i knew the wiring was wrong. If it is wired properly the soundwaves dont erase each other. So if you have agood soud everything is fine.

      Afraid not,you will need the additional power cable from the fuse box. You could connect both the yellow and red power cables(radio end) to just the red power cable,so sort of two in to one, this will make the radio powered all the time but if your son forgets to remove the face plate over night he will have a flat battery.

      If you have checked your fuse box to locate a accessory position ignition switched fuse and are certain it is not a main system fuse then I would look towards the wiring on the radio or maybe a faulty radio. It sounds like you have a power feed going back into the wiring harness and so you could be sending power back in to the car.

      Radio station display will be blank but it’s in your new radio.
      However normally you won’t be able to adjust the cars clock for daylight saving each year.

      All contact is via CZcams message so just pop the radio model below and I will list the items you need.

      Right I bought a stereo with a screen and plugged it myself with the videos I watched. It worked and was fine but then it went off and hasn't worked again. I plugged back the old stereo and it works so is not the the power connection from the car. I bought a new adapter thinking it could have gone broken but it didn't work either. I haven't changed the fuse in the new stereo because it looks okay. Do you think it could be that one? Wouldn't the stereo work if that fuse is gone? Thanks

    How you can set the time and date with aftermarket stereo?

    • @PJsprojects

      Not possible once an aftermarket radio is fitted sadly.

      What about the volume buttons near the steering wheel? Not working too right?

    • @PJsprojects
      @PJsprojects  Před 6 lety

      Correct they don't work on aftermarket radios unless you purchase the correct interface for what ever brand of radio you fitted.

      I have a Partner Tepee 2012.

    Do anyone know how to remove or locate the existing BS Bluetooth box.

    • @PJsprojects
      @PJsprojects  Před 6 lety

      All the ones I have worked on have had the module under the right hand side of the dash,either a black or white/cream plastic box.

      PJs projects Do you think swapping the mic would help, the aggressive noise cancelling make's it virtually impossible for the other person to hear you once you get over 50 mph.

    • @PJsprojects
      @PJsprojects  Před 6 lety

      You could try a new location for a mic,such as either on the steering cowling (in front of the speedo) or up on the top corner of the screen pillar.

    • @james684
      @james684 Před 6 lety

      PJs projects thanks for you're replies but I tried that even holding the mic in front of me, makes no difference when road noise gets louder, suppose my question is does the mic itself control the noise cancelling or is it the Bluetooth module, sorry for the questions. Just read somewhere that indeed I need to change the mic with a better quality 1, let's hope I can find the module, I have looked before and not found it.

      Mic does have a level of quality involved so worth a shot seeing as they are cheap. Good luck sorting it.

      @@peterrichardson9126 Peter, you are a legend. I have a Partner Tepee too so this was my main concern about updating my head unit. Can I ask, so you don't adjust the time etc. on the head unit like previously, you now access it through the stalk?

      Hi Perry, sorry to take so long to get back to you.
      That’s correct, you can access the menus to adjust time etc. by using the original stalk controls that control the stereo. It can be a bit fiddly but as it’s something you won’t be doing very often I find it’s acceptable. If I get a chance I’ll post a video of how to access the menus. Hope this helps.

The end they told me tough poo. I bought it and my tough luck.I did get a refund on the leads that did not work, they would not take the radio back or refund, not their problem it does not do as they said it would. but now I have the wrong date/ time flashing on the pugs screen, I’ll Never go to Hellfords again

      Sounds like they simply didn't know and only went on what limited info they would of had available. Most cars have whats called a display adaptor available that makes the factory fitted display work but these are pretty expensive (around £90).
