When Oliver first sits down for dinner at Oxford sat opposite the crazy maths genius- you don't realise that Oliver is actually more unstable & psycho than him :)
So that's how vampires get their castles 🤔
Sir James snapping at Farleigh reminds me of the dinner scene in Hereditary, where they're all tensely polite and not talking about the death until Peter prods his mom to blow up.
Great reaction. As an elder gay, it's fun to watch some of you reacting. "I can sorta see the spunk, but not the grime". Ha!
ditto
For real. I can get into some raunch in the right mood, but tonguing bathtub drains is over the line.
So glad you liked this one lol easily one of my top 3 movies of 2023. I can see myself coming back to this one a lot 😂 and like you mentioned, the soundtrack is killer.
Such a great film. The dialog and direction were just wonderful. Elspeth was my favourite character by far😆
Completely agree, should be up for more awards imo
Her delivery was on point.
100 % with you. I practically reacted to the movie like you did. And for me it is a 10, The idea is not original and people are obssessed with Ripley, totally ignoring the French oldie A PLEIN SOLEIL and also not one mention to SOMETHING FOR EVERYONE (available for free here on CZcams) with young Angela Landsbury and Michael York. Fennell did her own version and I think it's superb. And although I've watched several scenes many times, the one I can't view is Ollie's reunion with his parents. That is the most disturbing scene for me. And my favorite is his dancing naked through the mansion. Totally uninhibited at last and showing a body no one suspected when we first saw him. A total triumph since he's even as atractive as Felix. WOW !.
So much same. Especially on the scenes. I can watch this movie over and over… but I still wanna crawl into the ceiling to avoid the birthday meeting.
35:18 the minotaur's shadow looks like it's reaching to grab Felix, just like the original minotaur would seize the young people sent into its maze for it to devour
When I first saw this movie, I knew I was in for twists. It did not disappoint. But so many references clued me in to the ending. Homage to the influences. Great Film! I hope it gets BAFTA recognition.
I love this movie so much, i hope he wins so many Oscars and the actor plays Oliver is also in kinky boots and Eternals
Saaaame, Barry Keoghan is so good, expect to see his career take off...
@@NottsLaad oh yes and thx for your reaction 🙏🏼 and by the way I'm a hugh fan of Sophie Ellis Baxter 🤩
You were absolutely adorable for the first hour or so of the movie and it’s only because I had seen it before your review that I thought you so.
And then, when your lights finally turned on, and the batteries were full speed ahead, you were brilliant
couldn’t agree with you more definitely a 10 out of 10
Great reaction Luke! Luv you & "Saltburn"! one of the best I've watched.
Wonderfully entertaining reaction!
Your reaction cheered me up and made me wanna see the film ! ❤
Great reaction…bravo❤️
Thanks, Luke! 🪙 I love this one. All hail to writer/director Emerald Fennell.
Same. I love this film. Gorgeous obsession. Watch it again and you'll get even more from it
Definitely true that you think you know where the film is going…only to be so massively surprised.
great reaction!
Yo I just wanted to let you know I really enjoyed the reaction and as someone from the states who has no idea about the culture and the stereotypes in UK. I appreciated your explanation of how the rich view the poor and the north in general. It gave me alot of insight on the subtle jokes in the movie that were going over my head lol.
Upon the first viewing of this film I was overwhelmed with the 'easter eggs' but with a repeated watch - I notice more and more. (First and foremost: Hands be praised to Evelyn Waugh). Countryhouse Society still exists. The Talented Mr.Ripley. Oliver Twist. Bright Young Things and Brideshead Revisted all come to mind. And then even Turing! But then the earlier Greek references got me hooked! Such a good film!
Definitely the Easter egg-heavy style is popular now, whether it's all the ill omens in Hereditary or the hard to spot ghosts in Haunting of Hill House.
@@user-os3oe3bi8j Can't believe it didn't get a nomination for an American Academy for Best Original Screenplay! Neither Nor, - it's a great societal piece of art.
Excellent piece of Art..
I have no words for this movie!
When I watched it, it was 4 in the morning, and I was like: what the heck am I doing here!? Why am I watching this!!????
So weird!!!
But the acting is awesome to be fair!
It’s terrific, right!!! ❤
I've an Art History Degree from B.U. I haven't used it once (....well I used it to get my foot into the door of my employer.... but I've yet to use it here...)
Throughout this movie I couldn't get over the impression Felix smelled overwhelmingly of old cigarette smoke, body odor and expensive aftershave.
Oh? Sounds like Brideshead revisited? Well, only one way to find out so let's check your reaction vid!
I don’t think that’s what it meant when they said “don’t throw the baby out with the bathwater”.
This reaction was so fun!!! lol you hating Farleigh was too funny x🤣💚
Literally the boy vexxed me 😂
@@NottsLaad yeah he was a bit stuck up wasn’t he🤣💚
@@NottsLaad Same, Farleigh had his own issues for sure. It was interesting how at the end he was the only one with real emotions though
@@NottsLaad He has a big fan base on the reddit board for the movie but I'm not one of them. I think Archie is more handsome when he has the hair cut shorter on the sides, not so much the "Sideshow Bob" hair.
@@Hannahbond10No he’s not a stuck up person. He knew what was going on with his family and Oliver. He was distraught when he was framed and booted out for the false plate selling attempt, therefore Farleigh threatened him for stealing their dreams to become real and especially infiltrating the family wealth. Farleigh was really angry, pissed, and mistrustful to Oliver one time at the birthday party because Farleigh was afraid to be disposed by Oliver’s sudden replacement. He seems to be very annoying in a silly way but he’s showing respect and care towards his people. Knowing that he’s been well behaved. 😊
36:55 Yes, Luke, he did kind of "dig the grave up" but not quite like Heathcliff 🤭. On a more serious note, what I loved about this movie is the way it played like a modern day Gothic Fairytale. Like you I went to see the movie without knowing what it was about & I so glad that I hadn't seen any spoilers... I was expecting a kind of modern-day Brideshead Revisited or Maurice style love story & instead we get a modern day Brothers Grimm style piece. I LOVED this movie. Now I want to see Barry Keoghan play my fave Brother's Grimm character - The Pied Piper🤣. I could not take my eyes off Barry Keoghan from beginning to end. He's an amazing actor. Absolutely loved him in The Killing Of A Sacred Deer & now he's definitely one of my faves. Thanks again for another great review, Luke 😊
I thought of Maurice too, with the initial setting on an elite campus and then the unrequited feelings for Clive and ending up in love with someone across the class divide.
Can’t believe this guy also played the Joker in The Batman 2022
Emerald also mentioned the Joaquin Joker's stairs dance as one of the inspirations for Saltburn's final number.
You are so good ❤❤
The growing desperation of Oliver that becomes increasingly cringey up to his decision to poison Felix! Reminded me of an odd movie that may be a bit hard to find nowadays, Chuck and Buck. Also Love and Death on Long Island with the late great John Hurt.
"I've done it again. I've watched another fucked film." Of every reaction of yours throughout this entire film, I think that was my favourite line!
I confess I found the plot a trifle cliched - it's essentially a mash-up of The Talented Mr Ripley and Brideshead Revisited, and I also found its critique of class politics a trifle muddled (is the writer/director (who is upper class herself) sending up the upper class, or commenting on the fear the rich have of the poor and middle class stealing their wealth?) But your reactions and commentary certainly made me enjoy the film more than I did on the first viewing, so thanks!.
Also, if you want to see more of Barry Keoghan (not that we didn't see a LOT of him in this film!) check out THE BANSHEES OF INISHERRIN - it's superb.
👍🏿
❤✌🏻❤️
Yes. Jagger bombs are a thing here.
Unfortunately.
Damn what rich person hurt you
You didn't comment on Oliver's ****at the end. Ha.
14:18 ITS SUPERBAD LUKEEEEE how do you not know Superbad!? Its a film btw💜
Not everyone knows every movie ever....relax
@@Rash23215 Me and Luke are friends. Don’t worry I’m not being mean😅😂
Oh that's what it was!!! i sussed it was 21 Jump Street but hey ho
@@NottsLaad No☺️🤣💜
You are so handsome ❤
You are too cute
He is though, isn't he. His other vids of 'Percy Jackson' and 'Interview With the Vampire' are plus entertaining.
He is, isnt' he though? A little bit sloppy, around the edges. But he's not a git.
You have me very confused?… Upset? Not really sure how to put it into words. At the beginning when the film started you said, and I’m paraphrasing here, “Not a gay… queer movie. I’ve been trying to stay away from them.” If you’re gay, then why would you say that and use the Q word? I loved your reaction. I always do because I think you’re funny when you’re embarrassed and you’re damn good looking. Why are you trying to stay away from gay films? I can suggest a whole world of films to you that have absolutely nothing to do with being gay. What kind of films do you like or want to see? I used to be an actor, so I have a wide range of genre’s.
I’m glad it turned out that you love this film. I give it 10 out of 10, as well.
Why have you got a problem with the word queer? My generation reclaimed it in the 1990s and it’s been used as an umbrella term for the LGBTQIA+ community for years.
@@767wattsy I hear what you are saying, but when you’re being beat and raped while everyone is watching saying “fucking queer”, it’s not a term of endearment. So since then, I’ve had to fight that word to make sure no one that came after me would be called that again. It’s a visceral reaction due to its implementation. Frankly, it hurts. All I have fought and suffered for the next generations, is being thrown away by those very same next generations I tried to protect. Also the words, “squirrelly”, “candy ass” and “faggot.”
