What I wouldn’t give to be transported back to 1995 at a Tool concert- high off my ass just vibin the fuck out. Heartbreaking that my 21 and 17 yr old will never experience anything like this.
danny is bar far one of the best drummers of our times. enjoy it while you still can. they are coming to chicago this summer and tickets are expensive as shit but hell man, i cant miss this shit
I just don’t know what it is about Maynard’s voice- the technicality, vocal range, theatrics, dynamism, style, screams, belting, it’s like the dude has EVERYTHING in one voice. But the biggest factor is the enormous amount of empathy he communicates through his voice. Every single time I understand what he’s going through in the lyrics, and every time I go into that journey, I am transformed.
I keep watching this video and other Tool videos and I keep listening to this song again and again and again. I never imagined I would get so obsessed with it. Saw them in concert a month ago. It was phenomenal.
@0:51 in my mind that chord makes a blue background coupled with a sense of breaking through. Smooth and cool; an open and serene envelopes me every time I hear it. The first tool song I heard, this was.
Not even close. Search tool live new jersey 1997 if you want to here tool at it's best, through the best soundboard recording I've ever heard. Combined with Maynard up front. Crushes all this DVD stuff. I can't even finish most of these videos after hearing the one I've mentioned.
It’s is amazing how good these guys sound live. There are very few bands, I mean almost no one live sounds as good as their recorded version. Queensrÿche, Amarythe, Tom Petty, Damn Yankees, Depeche Mode, Nightwish, TSO, and Dream Theater are a few of the notables.
I never see maynard on stage i guess he wants people to pay more time looking at the instruments and rightfully so. Tool is about everyone, not one member is more important than the other
+Multi Podcast Maynard is standing behind Justin and Adam, next to Danny's drum set. The band's live video designer says that it's because a lot of Tool songs are very personal to Maynard and that he finds it difficult to recreate the emotions under the bright stage lights. Maynard feels more comfortable in the shadows.
@@Supervale111 Yep. He gives various reasons, I've noticed. "All you know about me is what I've sold ya." Recently he said the sound is better back there. But the eye problem seems plausible too, as he wears shades at shows sometimes.
Have you ever just thought of a song you wanted to see them do live back in the day, and find yourself digging through shit 4 hours later? That's where I'm at
Just sayin', but this should have 'bout 20 zillion views. Even a poor quality recording, of this band, performing this song, is hucking feaven. Lord, what a sick grove that will live forever.
If there was 'One song'..that challenged "ALL" religeons and made all people venture beyond ..their normal realms.. 'This song' would be it... so be strong.. be 'open'... and be Receptive to the 'otherside'
Literally, there are times when I hear music and I don't even have anything to say - cause... well, there it is!!! I just want to throw both hands up in the air like WHAAAAA?! Music is the shit guys!
Maynard's voice is fucking fantastic here!!
Caleb Bartlett Like a fine wine.....better with age...
+Just Me just like his wine?
+Caleb Bartlett True power is expressed subtly.
yeah, happy to see a quite fresh video with a good vocal. When I watch 1996 videos... jeez, what was he doin.
Artur Papryka being on drugs, i suppose. heh
I love how they have their own sound. You hear the music and you know it's TOOL. They've got their own stamp on a sound and that's timeless.
Bull Fall
sahi kuro.
"Frame by Frame" by King Crimson. That´s the Inspiration for the riff
Can tell System Of A Down took influence from this for Mr. Jack.
Not really timeless it’s very distinctly early 2000s
It makes me sad to think that these 4 men are mortal and will some day no longer be creating music. I’m savoring every previous album.
That’s one way to think but the best way to think is it’s amazing that they’re even here creating this exact sound to make us feel exactly like this.
Justin's bass is all about that treble...
Justin and Adam almost trade places on this song :P
and vicky versa mate
And those round wound strings
That wal bass, special preamp, I want one sooo bad
i was thinking that. way too much chorus too. I miss the old way but he must get bored.
Drums from 4:30 to 5:02 never cease to send chills up my spine...
This is the main reason why I look up a 46&2 live performance... Just skip straight to danny's solo and drool.
Saw your comment before it played, and by 4:50 my whole body was buzzin 👽
@@2morrowillcome lol same doesn't sound as sick on the studio version but still sick
That moment is like when a plane is falling hopelessly to the ground before exploding
I thought Maynard's voice was gone -- but he is completely fucking on point here.
Very happy to hear that.
46 and 2
Yeah man I saw aperfectcircle like 2 years ago. Didn’t sound any different. Only thing that was different was his anime Mickey Mouse buns lol
Wow, Maynard sounds great in this! Most people half his age can't sing like this.
he sounds so awesome ^^
still sounds awesome almost 20 years later, too bad he's always in the shadows.
must be for all the wine he drinks =)
Except at 2:00 where I was expecting it to be deeper.
JustJash I will explain this again ...the focus is on the music not him ...
..thats what he wants..
the vocals are insane, even though old MJK's voice is tired, the performance is impressive by how clear his voice sounds, amazing
4:31 Danny:"Okay its time for me to warm up? Alright time for my first exercise!"
Jesus H. Christ that vocal sounds insanely awesome.
Way better than those kids that covered it
ric ardo lol
@@ricardo-be4kn Yeah that must be why the kid's video has 27 million views compared to this one having just under 1 million 😊

Maynard was 50 years old here...And he nailed it
Tool wouldn’t be Tool without Maynard. Lyrical genius and a voice to match. Incredible band and amazing performance as always
This song will never get old
That's so Chancellor to have that much treble on a bass
I have probably listened to this song 150 times. And It still sounds as fresh as the first time
Step in through my shadow , 46 & 2 it's just ahead of me .
🔥

This CZcams channel made my life better.

Coming down from a dmt experience to this song is one of the most intense and beautifully overwhelming moments in my life.
greatest band ever
Just four masters at what they do. Amazing, unreal,
MJK, super clear vocals! Just great!!
anything tool does is FANTASTIC
This is just a master class on live performances. All 4 of them were so perfectly synced with one another and the lights. Flawless

Danny carey glowing like a celestial being during the drum breakdown? yeah, sounds about right
Even a god like Justin messes up every now and then.
This is song is just a musical masterpiece all around! Love it

My favorite song also.

WOW - great audio- I agree Maynard is insane.
2:12 Has Maynard done that vibrato before? It's breathtaking.
Fuck they're good
Sent chills up my spine
This is a total experience after having a joint or 2 lol😂😂😂
Maynard sounds so good in this and the other members all sounded great. This live version is better than what the originally recorded!
Let's not lie to ourselves
@@bigbowlowrong4694 Exactly.
This is absolutely fantastic! MJK with a stunning performance
Awesome Tool!!!! Amazing and chilling!! Great version.
Man, these are awesome! Every time I see a new video from you I get excited! This is, by far, the clearest, highest quality live Tool stuff on CZcams.

This is an all time great song and an all time great performance to boot.

So great!! Tool never ceases to make me rewind.ha
oh my... this is just pure bliss, such an amazing experience to watch and listen! especially to how they are progressing towards their older years :)
Wow! Amazing performance!!!!
I've seen them perform this song live twice now!! I'm waiting for the opportunity to arise to see them for a third time

FadingShad0ws Maynard James Keenan is very humble
I heard about an eye problem of Maynard

Has to be the most badass intense outro in history!!
shit makes me cry tears of happiness
Dear ToolArchive,
I once owned a Dodge *Shadow* back in 1998.🚗
I think of that whenever I hear this song. 😚
Thank you *so* much for posting. 💗

Holy Crap, that is AWESOME! Need more likes on this video. Wish I would have seen these guys in concert at some point in my life.
I just saw them live and Maynard sounds exactly the same aged 60. I have no idea what the hell he does but its working.
