WE569. How wonderful to see her again. I flew her for many years in the eighties and nineties with the Military Auster Flight. I hope you have as much fun with her as I did. She was restored by Ross Skingley who regularly flew her with MAF. Many long nights at Bassingbourn restoring the Mk 7 rear canopy and re-painting her. Glider towing too.

Good to meet you at Yeovilton this summer and get some more background on WE569...

Excellent. My first flight, in the early 70s, was in an Auster doing glider tows. Sadly, I never thought to log it.

Thank you for all your replies. Trevor thought I was just taking stills at the time!! It was only afterwards I decided to put the clips together in the way I did!! 🤣

Splendid show chaps! They just don't make films like that anymore.

Used Austers for glider towing at Meir, Staffordshire and Keevil, Wiltshire in the 1970's.
Great aircraft, only surpassed by the iconic Tiger Moth.

“Talking to someone in a tower somewhere”... I’ll have you know Coventry is home to a fine fleet of AFISOs!

Still love this. Particularly the landing! Hope you don't mind me adding it to the LAA archive.

Quintessential PFA - except for SkyDemon ruining the illusion ;) Definitely a Keeper for the archives!

"Note the missing dial." Yes but - rather more captivating was Lt. Generator Warning shining bright most of the flight, apparently. Was that SOP during the war? ;)

Spiffing! It was an awfully good plane for £500. I actually own a part of the old Auster factory.......about 50 yards of corrugated iron from a hangar makes up my garden fence!

Wizard show chaps. Managed to avoid the Ack Ack over GCHQ. Smoke me a kipper for Breakfast Ginger...
