I will say this much about the chikorita line, chikorita very fragile (Considering the first two gyms are flying and bug), Bayleef is decent (Especially for whitney, her rollout can't do shit), And Meganium has the best all around defense stats out of all of the starter's final evolution for generation 2
The reason why Mr. Stake never dies is because, while everyone else does not miss the fallen, he does. He loved every last one of them so much that he made it his job to miss them because no one else will. That gives him the iron will to live no matter what
Say what you will about deaths in this series, but I like how they had a real reaction when fleecity, Ivan Ooze, Slowmara, pinchy, Luke and like more major members died. That's the point of the nuzlocke, to get an emotional bond with your cast of characters
Ironically, I think the best illustration of that in this nuzlocke is the one who would not, _could_ not die, Mr. Stake. They kept him on the team just to make fun of him, then they grew to love him as much as they loved Slowmara (they could never love ANY of the team as much as they loved Ivan). That's not only a great illustration of the emotional bond one forms with their Pokemon in a nuzlocke, but also another major aspect: developing a new appreciation for Pokemon you once overlooked or even disliked. MyEx was another example; I believe one of them straight up said that he never imagined getting so attached to a freaking Swalot.
Similarly, everytime I see "Slowmara came back!" upon rewatch, I picture Tantor walking away from her grave only for her to grab him by the ankle, rise up from the ground and hiss "I'm not going _anywhere!_"
Technically, Mancrobat saw the underworld everytime he opened his mouth. That said, Slowmara saw the underworld by...existing pretty much so there's that too.
I remember Lani's epic "Nooooooooooooooooooooooooo!" scaring the shit out of me when I saw it Live, I had another Tab opened to another Website and my Volume was pretty loud.

see that's the thing about chikorita's if you take the time to raise it properly and give it the right type of move that thing can tank anything including it's weakness that's how i got past most of them with my Chikorita even Faulkner
@@youreokayboah2128 There's a good moveset I made for Meganium. Have it hold light clay. EV train in special defense and defense. Light screen, reflect, synthesis, and energy ball. It'll tank legendaries. Very useful for double battles especially but it's also good for single battles.
Marilyn Negron You can say the same about any other grass stater, hell even any Pokémon for competitive, Meganium is NOT good in the competitive scene btw, in fact the best grass starter is sceptile, which was only In Ou because of its mega evolution.
People are complaining that there are no deaths so far in Moon but at this point it's mainly that they either don't do stupid avoidable shit, the RNG doesn't completely fuck them over, or they're actually appropreatley levelled and type diverse.
SpiderGamer Budge had Earthquake. (S)He could have easily killed Electrode. But they decided to experiment with Gyro ball at the wrong time. Also, accidentally picking Bug bite gave Electrode the chance to strengthen his already good Sp. Attack stat. Add to the mix Budge's average Sp. Defense and the fact that Electric attacks inflict neutral damage to Steel types, and here you go. Also, they could have easily used CoolHandLuke to one shot Electrode without any sort of repercussion. Long story short, they had no excuse for losing Budge

Honestly the Soul Silver Nuzlocke was probably the most and fun and most interesting one to watch. The best character background and character establishment. The best story and ending. And also the best and most heart-wrenching deaths.

I have started like 20 Nuzlockes by now, won a few of them, the rest still going. I know now that Haunter has good special attack, but because the pause when Slowmara's HP reached 0 seemed a bit long, I thought it meant there was an unseen "A critical hit!" Also, I know Slowbro has better Def. than Sp. Def, but I don't think the Sp. Def is THAT bad, and even though Haunter has good Sp. Atk, I still am surprised that it would take out Slowmara in one hit without a stat drop or crit. That said, I did end up maxing my own Slowbro's HP and Sp. Def EVs to make it as bulky as possible and make it take hits equally on both defenses.
I like to imagine that soup spoon saw that the thunderbolt didn't take Wanda down, turned to TANTOR and said "this is the only way" and jumped into Wanda's mouth with his poison tip horn ripping through the top of her head.

I love how the vast majority of deaths in this run were via critical hits, its as if TANTOR's enemies know that the only chance of winning is by luck.

Mr. Stake: Actually, Slowmara didn't die by crit, Haunter just has good Special Attack. Also, you must be new to Nuzlocke, crits are incredibly common in them.
@@heinzdoofenshmirtz8643 My comment was 2 years ago, I am NOT new to Nuzlockes anymore lmao I have experienced many a crits in my own Nuzlockes, lost Pokémon to a bunch of them.
I have started like 20 Nuzlockes by now, won a few of them, the rest still going.
I know now that Haunter has good special attack, but because the pause when Slowmara's HP reached 0 seemed a bit long, I thought it meant there was an unseen "A critical hit!"
Also, I know Slowbro has better Def. than Sp. Def, but I don't think the Sp. Def is THAT bad, and even though Haunter has good Sp. Atk, I still am surprised that it would take out Slowmara in one hit without a stat drop or crit.
That said, I did end up maxing my own Slowbro's HP and Sp. Def EVs to make it as bulky as possible and make it take hits equally on both defenses.
