Edit: It’s been four years since I wrote this comment. I just wanted to come back and say, I am no longer suicidal/ deeply depressed. I still struggle, but I made it through. For those who are still going through it, you CAN get better. I swear. Happiness doesn’t even seem like a real thing that exists, but it is. I’ve seen a glimpse of it. Just hold on, and get help. You CAN do it.❤️

There is so much that I love about this song, but here's an interesting fact that many of you may not know. This version was the FIRST version Jessie recorded in studio, and she liked it so much that she kept it, even though there is a mistake in the beginning where you can hear one of her producers talking in the background (0:06ish). It really is an amazing song which has saved so many lives.

No better names It's given a lot of people the courage to be themselves and know that it's okay. They might otherwise have gone the route that a lot of other people have when they felt completely different from everyone else and that that was a bad thing.

At first, she gained a lot of recognition from her song “do it like a dude” which was heavily supported by the lgbtq+ community. She also said that she was bisexual. After she became famous though, she claimed that it was all for show, which honestly wasn’t the best move what with bi-erasure etc.. So along with her style changing, yes she has a great voice, but it was pretty horrible the way she handled the whole thing and I believe she lost a lot of fans due to that as well.
She probably found it difficult to sell herself out, hence the trend we see with certain artists that "blow up" for a period of time then fall into the darkness. If you wanna make it to the "top" and stay there, the music industry is will make sure you don't stay true to who you are

I’m a 29 year ago guy from Hong Kong, and right now I’m on a bus alone in a foreign country,listening to this song, crying by myself. I have been wearing a wig for five years because of my balding and last night it was kinda broken. I didn’t bring a hat with me unfortunately. It’s been so long since I go out with my real hair showing to the public. At first, I was so frustrated and losing my mind because of this. I couldn’t even breathe when I looked at the hotel mirror. But then I told myself I couldn’t let it defeat me, there’s still a long way for me to go. The next day I still wore the broken wig but everybody would instantly notice I’m wearing one when they look at me. I felt vulnerable, insecure, and yet I also felt relieved. It was when I start letting the facade go away that I could finally feel like myself. And then I thought of this song, came here, listening to it, and it is the first time the lyrics hit so deep, every word, every line of this song goes straight into my heart.
And I just wanna say thank you Jessie for putting this song out. It enlightened me 10 years ago, and it gives me strength and comfort I needed today.

When I was 14 this was my favorite song. I went through a deep depression alongside battling with insecurities and self-consciousness and at that tender age you're just so confused about everything and you're so susceptible to anything and everything, you know how it is. I remember coming across Jessie's music before she was so well-known and she always put a smile on my face with her goofy personality and wonderful music & messages and her glorious voice.. she just made things better for me. The message this song sends is so important and powerful and I'm so thankful that it exists. I'm 21 now and this remains one of my favorite songs ever :') Thank you Jessica for giving me that, I always feel nostalgic about that time in my life, the time where I first discovered you and you were just our little secret ❤ I love you

Its not supposed to get you in a depressed mode, its supposed to give you the insight of what you are going thru, but then we as people have too much relation to our mind as that we were our minds and therefor we keep overthinking until it feels like all you think on is a reality but in fact its just thoughts being manifested to be real because of belief. We are all the same, going thru the same things, its just a question of how much distance you have to what your mind brings up. With a little complentation, you should get a big space in yourself. Year 2020 when i almost succumb to depression then i heard this song, i ugly cried for the longest time.
"It's ok not to be ok" hit really HARD. I really needed to hear those exact words. Those times where everything was so wrong, i found comfort in a song. I was able to pull myself through and played this song on repeat for God knows how long, just to keep myself reminded that it is ok not to be ok.
As cliché as it sounds but this song saved me from attempting again to end all my suffering. Thank you Jessie J for this song. This was my glimpse of light during my darkest hours.

Damn. This song speaks so much for someone who has anxiety. To the point wherein you think you got nothin better to do in life and you started to think about the standards that the people set about you, but you can't do it because what you want is different and you can't do anythin eitherway.
This song made me understand that there's nothin wrong being "not okay".
Also, this made me feel that I am not alone, that there are lots of people who understand me, I maybe just being surrounded by wrong people.
Your anxiety sometimes even show you what you really truly want in life. It can show you truths inside you. You're literally made of stars. That's crazy to think about. We are all special and you can literally change the world just by being yourself.
Btw I have anxiety too. But it can get better. You just have to master it. If that makes sense. Anyways sending you love.
