Considering that there's already NEO GEO CVS for the Switch, Terry & Mai being guest characters for SF 6, & the MVC Collection announcement, a CVS Collection is all but inevitable at this point.
I would honestly be shocked & baffled why that wouldn't be the case, especially since there's no way it would be harder to negotiate with SNK than it is with Marvel & Disney.
CvS is likely already being discussed considering how many places SNK and Capcom characters are appearing together.
After MvC, CvS is the only other crossover I want!

@@Voltan Who's lying? I like MVCI (and I actually played it unlike the people who praise its gameplay but have less than 10 hours on it) but its definitely not no MVC4, it's that simple. I don't care what you or anyone else thinks. And to further explain my original comment:
It just pisses me off when people think of MVCI as MVC4 and I always make sure to remind people that its definitely not MVC4 in the hopes that we get an actual MVC4 worthy of its name.
Marvel Ultimate Alliance 3, a Switch exclusive, sold over 1.5 million. It would be shocking if MVC Collection doesn't cross that number.

Dragon ball fighterz was so amazing. Just the way it played offline and how easy to learn it is and hard to master. It's so deep.

Realistically speaking, the highest we’ll be approaching is around 2.6M, if lucky, 3M, especially with not only Capcom’s track record, but how Marvel also seems to be heavily promoting X-Men content again.
With this also being on the switch, I think it could hit 3 mil easy with how popular the MCU has become. I'll be buying the Steam version and hopefully, a physical Collectors edition with figures. I'll pay $200 easy for it!
I’m like X-files, I want to believe 😂. Hopefully, all those supposed die hard fans put their money where their mouth is. If the casuals show up and I hope they do, then yea, the game can sale over a million copies.
With the huge Switch player base, I'd be surprised if it doesn't reach 3 million in the first 6 months across all platforms

Doubt it. 20 year old games don't sell like they used to. For a while, retro collections sold pretty well as a novelty. But now people expect remakes and reboots.

If there's a collection I'd like to see, hopefully down the line, is Capcom Fighting Collection Volume 2. The 3D fighting games. I think 9 games would be added:
. Star Gladiator and its sequel, Plasma Sword;
. Rival Schools, including the update PS1 version that only came out in Japan, and Project Justice;
. Tech Romancer;
. Power Stone 1 & 2
. Final Fight Revenge
I'd like to see other Capcom fighting games also get rereleased in a collection:
Capcom Fighting Evolution (I know people don't like that game, but they should bring it back at least).
Sengoku Basara X (only released in Japan).
Ring of Destruction: Slam Masters II.
And of course, Capcom vs SNK and their versions.

So one thing I wanted to mention, Street Fighter 30th anniversary sold 3.1 Million copies. MvC Collection has the added benefit of coming out while the nostalgia wave for X-Men 97 is still going very strong, I can see a lot of people getting it because of that so I think 2 million copies is honestly a doable goal

I really think people are underestimating the scarcity of these games. Not to mention these are the arcade versions which even with the emulation its hard to get a 1:1 experience. MAME doesn't like the rom set so you have to use a Sega arcade NAOMI emulator which not a lot of gamers even know how to setup are wanna to take the time to figure out. Emulating Dreamcast games can be a hassle too.

Yeah, finding roms is easy, but figuring out how to configure BIOS files and directories is not exactly user friendly, though I do understand why its like that

It's a loss, but something to remember is that this is releasing on old systems with massive install bases that are still buying games at a healthy rate, which I don't think has happened with mvc before
I think it "blowing" past 3 mil is a bit optimistic, but I can see it breaking the 2 mil line with ease. Not only that, but the general fighting game audience has grown. I'd say MvC is primed for a healthy success with this collection

That's the reason to keep on buying physical video games. But like he said, "Disc rot". Thankfully more people will likely get it on Switch and with cartridges, the game is safe and the cartridge won't rot.
@@kevinramirez3134 Disc rot is a thing, but your fine if you take even a little bit care of your games. These are Blu-ray discs, not CDR discs from the early 2000s lol. Dreamcast/Saturn games are at the most risk than PS4 anyways. Besides, modern game discs will outlive us anyway for disc rot to even be a thing.
Now if you want to pass your game collection down to your kids. Then MAYBE you can consider disc rot.
Disc rot is typically caused by manufacturing defects and/or extremely poor care/storage in extreme temperatures, it is -not- inevitable, at least not in our lifetimes. Blu-ray has especially high longevity. I see this FUD about disc rot everywhere and it's annoying.
I'm with you. I own PS2 and DVD movies as well PS3, PS4, and blu-ray movies for years but none of them have disc rot. If we taking good care by cleaning and keep them in the case regulary, the disc will be fine for decades.

Another thing to consider, MVCI came out during basically the peak era of the MCU. And whether the fgc liked it or not, the inclusion of more movie characters and a story mode definitely helped it, even with it not selling as much as it should have. If MVCI has more appealing graphics, and had a better story mode, it probably would have sold even more considering it had opened up to the MCU audience. But poor ratings prevented more sales.
Now, a MVC4 can return back to the inclusion of x men etc characters with how they’re starting to make a theatrical come back.
Somewhere around 3-5 million copies for them to contact and negotiate with insomniac Games to work out a deal with Disney and Capcom for this to work.

The thing is, Marvel needs to be HANDS OFF with MVC4 and just let Capcom cook. Marvel was being a pain to work with when it came to MVC3 and especially with MVCi. So I'd rather them just not be as involved and just sit back and take credit. It'd be better to not include too many influences from the MCU too. Source the comics and cartoons, maybe even keep it within that 90s era. Like how Xmen 97 is a thing.
I think the biggest reason why marvel infinite is the best selling mvc game (outside of the many price deals it had) is because it has a story mode.
Because UMVC3 was on markets months before MVCI and it was already priced at around 20 dollars and it still sold less than MVCI, because it does not have a story mode that can attract a casual audience.
Valid points on mvci having a story mode plus MCU was at its peak in film industry… umvc3 was day purchase on both consoles… hopefully the fanbase shows up and the casual game market follows we have a big chance of MVC4 especially with how huge X-Men 97 success of lately got everyone craving those characters in games

I don't know, it'll be on three highly accessible platforms and there's some real mystique around it. I've seen people on Nintendo forums who aren't FG fans saying they're intrigued by the backstory and want it just because of that.

People need to put their money where their mouth is, and buy this, physical and digital if needed. Or bother ps4 and switch.
It goes without saying but everyone PLEASE secure your own physical copy so we can show them that interest for a new MVC entry is still there. And in the event their relationship goes south again we won't ever run into the issue where you can't find a copy in the wild again at an affordable price.
I've never been able to play these games (Nintendo Fan) and I'm probably going to buy this game twice(Switch and Steam). I'm sure there are going to be people like me with the same idea.
I’m double dipping on this collection. I already pre ordered a switch copy but I’m also buying the digital version on ps5. I’m assuming it’s getting a ps5 digital release I haven’t looked into.
I am so happy that Capcom Fighting Collection sold well enough that this is now a series. Marvel vs. Capcom is such a beloved franchise that I have 0 doubts this is going to sell very very well. My hope is that when this sells well the remainder of Capcom's library of fighting games gets ported over to modern platforms. Maybe a Capcom vs. SNK Collection, a Street Fighter EX collection, and what I'd personally love is a Capcom 3D Fighting collection with games like Power Stone, Rival Schools, Star Gladiator, Tech Romancer, and maybe even an actual release of Capcom Fighting All-Stars.
It will sale a lot. Preorders are looking great. And we didn’t get to the special editions yet.
I’ll be getting 4 copies…..
1 on PS4 to play online and with family and friends at home.
1 on Switch to play in portable mode.
And a spare copy on the Switch & PS4 to keep in plastic as collectors items since these games will balloon in price in a few years.

Any game that is on disc is doomed to rot regardles im afraid☹️. Reasons ot happens or what triggers it is still not certain, however it still happens and for those that collect its kind of a big deal. I got some gc games that started to rot but they still work for now.

@@Drout The reason disc rot happens are absolutely known. ALL plastic degrades over time PERIOD. There is nothing that can stop that, now how fast or slow it can happen all depend on the materials that were used to actually make the discs. Some companies use cheaper materials and the disc rots and becomes unreadable faster.

Capcom are probably already planning a new marvel vs Capcom game thus the licencing with the addition of the punisher. I am guessing he'll be in the new game too. They'll probably use the sales of mvc collection to fund the development of the new game.
I have all the marvel vs capcom games in physical format 😅… it is crucial to show up to buy this physical if possible and if you have pc getting it on steam… the switch has huge base and should hit a million sales alone

I want to buy the game to support the Vs. Capcom series, but I also REALLY DON'T want another Marvel vs. Not only has Bob Iger's usage of the Albert Wesker Method of Business Growth made me just SICK of Marvel now, but I also want Vs to be more than just "Marvel featuring Capcom" cause you know that's how the casual sees it. Plus, if you look at box office numbers, the casuals are starting to get sick of Marvel as well. I think the real future of Vs, of Capcom's answer to Smash, is to finally pull the trigger on that damn Tezuka vs. Capcom concept they keep teasing us with with art galleries, of all things.
For a typical game launch the breakdown of how much people pay is like 1/3 pay full price, 1/3 pay medium, 1/3 pay the cheapest. It varies based on the game quality or other circumstances.
at $50~ 1st month selling price, 1.4 mil sales will be quite a bit of profit for redoing games to emulator. I feel like half of that would be fine. Anything else is just icing. Personally I'd be surprised they'll have a million in sales by next year. I'm also sure Marvel is looking at this closely, they need some wins. I think they realize the power of nostalgia from xmen 97 and when they saw that as their best D+ show for the last couple of years they probably said to Capcom, "remember that Max Dood? Let him have his cake".
19:51. I own PS2 games and DVD movies for years but there's no sign of Disc Rot. The same for my PS3, PS4, and blu-ray movies collection that i owned for years. On the other hand, Nintendo cartridge pins can get rusty. The thing is...If you're taking good care of your physical collection by cleaning up and keep them in their case either that cartridge, CD, DVD, or bluray then i think all of them will be fine for years.
As for how many MvC Collection will sell, i'm personally don't care because i'm not a Marvel Versus fans. But i will buy a PS4 copy to help Marvel fans get what they want. Beside, i really enjoyed The Punisher and X-Men COTA so the collection will be worth it for those two games alone.

It might sell well, because X-men vs. SF, Marvel Superheroes vs. Streetfighter, and Marvel vs. Capcom: Clash of Superheroes is included in the collection too. Alot of gamers like those games more than MvC2, so that is alot of added sales for capcom. If it was just MvC2 being sold, it would sell good enough, but alot less. Having those first 3 cross over games that people love a bit more, and the marvel fighting games, and beat em ups, is alot of added sales.👍😄
I’m buying this digitally and later on if I find a physical copy I’m copping that one too because I don’t feel safe buying licensed games digitally. I’m in Lebanon so idk if I can easily find a physical copy but here’s to hoping.

I't never ceases to amaze me how out of touch the fgc is with the tourney scene still being a startlingly small minority of the overall collective customer base.

Im definitely gonna get it, though MvC2 is probably at the bottom of my excitement. Ive got a bigger nostalgic connection for the other 3 VS games in the collection, and always wanted to try MSH and COTA. Punisher I also heard is a hidden gem so that should be fun too.

Well I guess we all know now that the issue with the Xbox version is with MT Framework. Not much angbody can do about. It will take a hit but it being on the Switch guarantees it will get a million alone from that.

I don’t wanna hype up the Switch, mainly due to how its successor is more or less coming next year, but 3rd party games do sell well on that system, I ain’t saying it’ll sell 1 million, but it will add a significant number to the total sales because people travel a lot and having the collection on Switch (and Steam Deck) will boost its sales a good healthy amount.
read an event hubs interview that these are on MT framework which doesn't natively work on the next gen consoles which is fine for playstation but for xbone I think there is like some policy that series version needs to be the best version in terms of performance but since capcom has moved on to RE engine they probably don't feel it's worth it to make updates to the engine to try and make it native to current gen. Might also explain crossplay not being a thing but not too sure about that one. Edit: Also I'm buying all versions baybeee

It's gonna be uphill but the amount of hype and free advertising I've seen on Twitter is kinda staggering. I don't know if all those people doing fan art will be buying copies but it's a start. Ive got mine pre-ordered on ps4 thought preservation statement with switch does give me pause
My theory is that MVC 4 is already in development. To get a game like Mvc collection going, they still have to get all the licenses to the characters, and to go through those hoops just for a collection seems odd. The collection is to drum up hype for 4
And they resurrected the official MvC you tube and X/twitter accounts that were dormant for 6 years. A lot of effort for a "one-and-done" retro collection

I think 1.3-1.5 million will happen in the first FY for Capcom. Lack of crossplay will give it a shorter tail, but I imagine it's a tech issue like with Xbox to not have it. If it were on RE Engine, it'd 100% have it.

Say things land somewhere in the middle between 2.5M or 3.3M. Let's say we land at 2.8, do you think MvC4 would still get signed off on asap, or would it still be like "steamy talks happen" ?
above 2.5 would still be all time series best, so it would pretty much be a guarantee at that point. These companies are not expecting collections of old titles to surpass the series best new entries. They assume a new title will sell at least as much as the collection + a percentage more like 50%-100%. So if this outsells MVC 3 and MVCI lifetime best, a new one will be guaranteed unless something foul happens behind the scenes.

One other question I had just to pick your brain: given the business practices that Microsoft/Xbox have had, like rejecting certain titles, do you think it's possible they may have been approached for inclusion for release and said no again?
So you're telling me that this game comes out later this year, then we have to wait even longer to see if it even sold well, and then if it does they start development which could take what 6 years? I hope they have already started development because I dont want to wait years for it to come out.
What’s interesting is that the further you go back, the less clear the numbers get because we were still culturally (in the US) going to arcades for a lot of gameplay because everyone couldn’t afford consoles/games outright. Most of my logged gameplay on the collection was rentals and arcade cabs
I'm 100% getting this on at LEAST 1 platform, whether it be Switch or Steam. If it's affordable enough for me, and I've got enough to spare, then I'm getting both.
And I think that's an important thing to note is that there WILL be people who buy two or even all three versions of the game, whether it be just to have access to or just to support it that bit extra. I can imagine a lot of double dipping with Steam and Switch, simply because the Switch is SO good for portability, and I'm sure Steam Deck will be too. Between that and the IMMENSE amount of art and hype I've seen online, I'd say 2M is very likely for this collection.
I don't think there's much chance of a commercially-pressed PS4 blu-ray experiencing disc rot in the lifetime of anyone who buys this game at release. Disc rot is much more of a concern with CDR/DVDR/BDR than with pressed discs, so unless you're regularly leaving the disc in the sun on the dashboard of your car, there shouldn't be a difference in long-term durability between Switch and PS4 physical versions. (I would actually argue that the portability of a Switch makes that physical version more risky.)
With marvel about to re launch the MCU with x-men soon, i wont be surprised if MvC4 could be discussed if this collection sells well. Less roster restriction from marvel could be one key factor, and letting capcom build the gameplay

I plan on getting both, physical and digital. The physical release, I'll keep as a collector's item. I'll download the game digitally and play it. I'm sure tons of people have the same idea. With that said, I can see the collection selling over 3 million units.
You know imho I feel like MUGEN held the MVC 2 provable torch for quite some time its time for the King to return and lets see if they still got it since online and rollback is in the mix the real question is would Mugen promote interest or simply surpass Marvel 2 with it's namesake potential although requires technical effort to make each Mugen/Ikamen screen pack to work?

Im so glad i have the physical copy of MVC3 on PS4. It's a rare game and costs $100 used, so it is time for a rerelease for that game as well.
The first Capcom Fighting Collecton sold 800k, and their goal was to sell 500k. So it was above expectations (thats why they kept the name for this collection too).So it doesn't take much for this game to be a success.
