I can so relate to this mom. I also lost my mom to medical error/malpractice, and have been diagnosed with cancer. I lost my health insurance as a result of losing my jobs during the pandemic and as a result of taking time off to care for my mom. I have let my living space go. I just throw things on the floor because I am too overwhelmed by adversity to simply walk over to the trash can to throw trash away, Starbucks cups, etc. You give me hope. And watching you work, I realize that I just need to START.
Hi @gj1695. I lost my little brother in a hit and run in 2012. I had been suffering from depression on and off and his loss was devastating. We lost him in the same month that we lost my dad and father-in-law, but all in different years. My advice is to just start with one thing. Every day do one thing, like get dressed and make your bed. Make a list and your goal is to do just one thing on the list. If you don't do anything else, be proud that you have done one thing. My daughter told me to just do one thing and our home is slowly getting better and better. Don't be too hard on yourself and remember to live and not just exist. I have a hobby of knitting and hand embroidery and reward myself with time off once I've done something I dislike e.g. ironing. Wishing you well. Love, hugs and prayers from South Africa.
@@wendyduwe3995 Oh I am so very sorry for your devastating loss. I like the advice to do one thing. I haven't made my bed in months. And I even throw my purse and coat at the foot of the bed, not bothering to hang them on the coat rack before I go to bed. I have slept that way, kicking my purse on my floor during the night 😉 for over six months! Ya know... I have been wanting to learn to knit, again. I haven't knit since I was little. I bought some pretty yarn and a beginners pattern for a scarf. Everyone tells me to breathe deeply and to meditate. But I can't breathe deeply because I KNOW the flood gates will open and won't be able to control the PAIN that may release with one deep breath. But walking meditation, gardening meditation (I love my succulents!) and knitting meditation appeal to me. Cleaning meditation, not so much! 😜 Thank you so much for the advice, encouragement -- and for your compassion. 🙏

@@gj1695 thank you for the answer. You take good care of yourself now. Take things slowly. I use my hand embroidery, quilting and knitting time as my thinking and prayer time. I also have a journal to vent into. That way I don't take things out on my hubby, kids and grandchild. Thinking of you.
@@wendyduwe3995 Aw thank you. UCLA offers counseling at a reduced rate/sliding scale by students in the Dept. of Psychology. I had my very first session, last week. Because of the demand following the pandemic... I was on the wait list for nine months. I haven't been sleeping and the student recommended I write in a journal. I haven't yet, but I will try that. Thank you for your kindness. You take good care, as well. Cherish those kids and your first grandbaby! And the hubby, too. He's a lucky man, obviously married to a kind-hearted woman. 😊

I am 75 years-old. My 2 sons, got many gifts from me. All my love that will never die. They both clean, cook, and love my grand children excessively. Teaching, with out yelling some times does not work. Hugs, kisses, and explaining why got us through many years. I'm so proud of them.

I went through stage 3 ovarian cancer. I don't suffer from depression or have children. It was bad enough for me, I can't imagine the level this woman is going through. So much worse than me. Hopefully she is seeing the other side of it and recovers soon.

@@Tammy8823 It was my husband who had cancer and me who ended up with depression, but thank you. And thank you for caring about those who are suffering through it.
You just have to keep moving. My husband was one of the first COVID patients which almost took him then he got cancer and surgery and chemo and colostomy. I have gone from wife to caretaker. And the house yard cars cooking.........everything. Just keep moving, keep finding a reason to get up and function every day. It's so hard. I don't have time to be depressed. I just keep moving.
@@tamaraschaeffer971 Yes, I was his caretaker for 8 years. It’s a hard job so my heart goes out to you. I never had a moment to be depressed when he was here. I had to work and take care of everything. It was after I lost him a few months ago that it all set in. He was gone and everything stopped. I didn’t know what to do with myself and didn’t care anymore. 😢
I can’t imagine the relief this lady must have felt no one especially with cancer should have to live in such a dirty messy space thank you so much for doing a great job of her out ❤

Roaches eat book binding glue (any glue to be honest), candle wax, cat poop, spilled food, always on the lookout for moisture, they are opportunistic little critters. I think if the landlord doesn't have a scheduled bug service, you'll never be totally rid of them in an apartment building. I worked in a high-rise on the 22nd floor and yes there were ants and roaches there too. The building I worked in had scheduled bug service and it still didn't rid the building of roaches entirely.
Because it's New York. Trash bags awaiting pick-up line the streets like a roach buffet every day of the week. All buildings in NY are prone.
