I actually really enjoy roguelikes and didn't realize this was one even. Since you're review made it out to be pretty positive overall, I think I'm gonna pick it up...quick question tho: Since you mentioned the Assassin's Creed 3 remaster, I'm curious, it is still on for the late May release, right?? I preordered a physical copy back in January I think? and I'm just surprised that I haven't seen any mention of it from Nintendo on the eShop or News page.
Lol I’m 34 and this caught my eye and I’m still thinking on if I should buy it or not. It looks great and like a lot of fun. But looks can get you and then the game sucks. So is this game worth it. I mean it’s on sale for $8 right now. So it’s not a big lose. But to me seems kinda worth it. If I had a kid of my own I’d deff buy it no questions asked lol. Well I guess for that answer alone if I ever have kids I would like to play this with them. So think it’s a good idea to buy it now and then come back to it then. Seems like a good investment.
I love this game! My wife and I are playing it on relaxed setting and we love it. The load times are annoying but, I like the game so much I am willing to overlook it. I really like the stickers and toys implementation as it allows for differing loadouts between the players.
I’m having fun with this one so far. I adore the sounds especially the kazoo bus station. That game crashing bug on Mormo kind of scares me. Hope they put a patch in soon. Nice review and love that your daughter got to be part of the action.
Yeah it's really odd, I've not had any issues. I've had it a few times with these things where I don't get a supposedly unavoidable game breaking bug. Mark

Art style is amazing, I really like the design. How ever the rogue-like aspect is flaring up my Dead Cells PTSD even though Swords of ditto looks fairly forgiving. Regardless, another game on the wish-list and another smashing review
This is THE review I needed, Thanks Mark/SwitchUp. I may consider it on sale but looks like it ticks the right boxes: 1. More combat heavy compared to Ittle Dew 2+ 2. Beautiful animations 3. 2 player couch co-op I'll take that sale advise as a rogue lite and playing with my son can be a little... tiresome. P.S. I love watching your daughter play hitting those trees with the sword, I can see she had a great time playing. A+ for effort on her front

I just got Gato Roboto and never knew Devolver had so many great games undsr its belt! I gotta take advantage of that sell and get Katana Zero! It was a REAL TOUGH choice between all the other great games they have on sell for switch.
Is this game can play coop with split joycon? I just have 1 controller, recently buying minecraft for coop play, but the game need two controller to play coop..i hope this game can play coop with split joycon

This game is beautiful, but the roguelike aspect killed it for me (no pun intended). I hope the developers make a zelda-like game with these aesthetics in the future
I've had this on my phone from Google Play for about three or four years now. The art is amazing. The little touches like setting the grass on fire is great! But... It lacks focus and direction, and dying is a drag when you have to start from your home and have to go to far-reaching places on the map to carry on your quest. Haven't played this for a long while now.
Been looking forward to this one. I bought it on release with the discount. I feel like I'm really going to enjoy the game, but after the first hour I can't help but feel that the levelling and the loading times are both too slow. Regarding the levelling I realise that this might simply be because I don't know too much about the game yet, but if the loading times don't get resolved, I don't know if I'll play the game that much.

Got this game on Switch launch day. Played through absolutely loved everything about it. Got to mormo at the end and the game crashed so I reloaded got back to mormo and it crashed again. I don’t know if it’s a game killing bug but I’m angry. I feel like as if my gf got me almost to completion and then was like “We’re done here.”
I have the same exact problem. Aparently it was an issue on previews versions on PC (1.13 I believe), and this is the version we got on the switch. On a Steam forum one of the devs said that v. 1.14 fixed it, and supposedly next week there is going to be a "huge" patch for the game. Let's hope it's this one. I'm going to wait and if it doesn't fix it, I'll start it again. Cheers!
I just read on the Devs website that it is related to having the laser ring equipped when attacking Mormo’s crystals. They are aware of it however and are waiting for Nintendo to green-light the patch. It’s been fixed apparently Nintendo has to approve the update though. Thank you Mark.

I love this game i play it from the first day xD 😍 yes it has Zelda x Adventure time feel and the world is gorgeous and some side quest fun to do i didn't try it co op maybe soon. But overall thanks for the great review keep it up !!
One thing I wish the game had was more bosses. Having to fight the same bosses over and over does get a tad tiring, especially when the game revolves around playing the game multiple times. Still, a cute game, and I wouldn't mind a sequel.

I cant believe I'm seeing this now. 3 years later. I've been watching u guys religiously for years. I don't believe in God but I believe in switchup so im surprised. Just started this with my 4 year old and we have been loving it. It's like eastward and zelda links to the past had a baby. The writing is funny and there is a "regular" mode at this point so its easier then permideath only but it's been great. Wow be safe guys !😊

I was worried this would be a hard roguelike. I’m really over rogue elements in games. They artificially extend the length of a game when in reality I would rather just play a shorter game

Judging from the sounds of the review, it doesn’t seem like the rogue like and perms death aspects usually reserved for “true rogue likes” doesn’t appear that harsh when you say consider Dead Cells and other games more “traditional” of the genre. It seems a little bit more.... forgiving? Any game that’s not too “extreme” on the perma death and rogue like aspects. Still, I totally get your vibe on this. Games that are too hardcore on those aspects can make it break a great game.

The game has quite a bit of bugs on Switch. - slow load time between maps - characters stuck in frame - unreadable bug code after beating the game Most can be solved by restarting the game, but not the one after you finish the game.

I do love the art style a lot. Had this came out a few months ago I would have been all over it. Back then you could not release enough rogue lites... Now I run away from them.
I'm tired of rogulikes, it seems there are so many games that would be great if they hadn't decided to make it rogue. I like grinding in games and redoing the same stuff again and again if I feel like I'm still making progress towards something, (eg Diablo, paragon, items) Repeating the early steps in a rogue starts to feel tedious. I get the same feeling whenever I try to get back into Skyrim or something similar, I've played the early quests, and early hours so many times that I can't bear it. But if I want to play later content I have to slog through it. There are so many games with absolutely amazing mechanics and gameplay that I get no fun out of because it feels like this. It's good to see they made some sort of compromise for this game.
Amazing video guys. :) Now I know, that I'll not buy it. If it would have been a hand crafted story driven experience, I'd concider to buy it though, because of the visual style. :)
This is one I'm currently playing I am enjoying it mostly also when you die if you come back to the spot of your death all of your coins and such will be sitting there.

New updates have added a bit more story.. still repetitive in caves!. Haven't had desert areas spawn in yet.. entertaining until the caves get repetitive. It's not a bad game. Just gets so relative u get tempted to not 100% worlds
@@SwitchUpYt I've been surprised by certain games requiring that lately. Maybe it's just games on the cheaper end of the spectrum, but I've seen it a few times with new games or new ports.

That's exactly what I thought the whole time I was playing. Imagine a huge world with quests and a "proper" story

That laugh at the beginning reminded me of Bowser Jr. The graphics remind me of a mixture of Zelda and Earthbound.

I do love the art style a lot. Had this came out a few months ago I would have been all over it. Back then you could not release enough rogue lites... Now I run away from them.

I'm tired of rogulikes, it seems there are so many games that would be great if they hadn't decided to make it rogue.
I like grinding in games and redoing the same stuff again and again if I feel like I'm still making progress towards something, (eg Diablo, paragon, items)
Repeating the early steps in a rogue starts to feel tedious.
I get the same feeling whenever I try to get back into Skyrim or something similar, I've played the early quests, and early hours so many times that I can't bear it.
But if I want to play later content I have to slog through it.
There are so many games with absolutely amazing mechanics and gameplay that I get no fun out of because it feels like this.
It's good to see they made some sort of compromise for this game.
If you're tried of rouglikes may I suggest you play some metroidvanias with a more change of pace 😉

This is one I'm currently playing I am enjoying it mostly also when you die if you come back to the spot of your death all of your coins and such will be sitting there.
The art style looks identical to Cult of the Lamb

New updates have added a bit more story.. still repetitive in caves!. Haven't had desert areas spawn in yet.. entertaining until the caves get repetitive. It's not a bad game. Just gets so relative u get tempted to not 100% worlds
