Sometimes it’s about the pictures you take rather than obsessing over the optical quality of lenses. This lens would be great for street photography, especially stopped down.
yerp
Yep
I purchased this lens a couple of weeks back, and I'm loving the pictures coming out of it. There's a hint of swirl to the optical design output, love it ❤️
Thanks for the video! Does the lens hood help more against the flaring than the original hood?
The square hood link isn't working...could you update that for us please?
This lens has a really bad flaring issue, does the square hood helps? Because apparently the hood that comes with it doesn't do anything.
I recenlty just bought a TTartisian 50 f/1.2 and wow, that lens is awesome. It's full metal, glass elements are very clean and all my photos have turned out very sharp and the lens costed me $105
is it autofocus?
@@ilhamismail2908 it's manual focus
got a question, will the square hood of this one fit on x100?
Great lens sharp , edgy , nice internal contrast , low price , very usable ! Thanks for sharing .
wow i think im gonna get this lens, im new to fujifilm system
Dang, definitely wasn't expecting to see pictures from Tacoma on the slide show -- we're from the same city haha. Great vid!
I actually love the cats eye on this, and the swirl I've seen in the reviews and samples convinced me to order one.
To that end, I'm now obsessed with the idea of someone, perhaps TTArtisan, leaning into vintage character with autofocus lenses. If they did a 40mm f/2 lens with a Biotar design, trying to capture that Zeiss Jena/Helios 44 swirl, that'd be amazing. They almost surely can't keep up with Fuji in a technical sense, so making flawed but fascinating and unique lenses, combining vintage character with modern controls and autofocus, would be a sweet niche.
yep this lens has me excited for auto focus vintage style character lenses. If TTartisan could add auto focus to some of their existing lens designs I would probably sell all my Sony lenses.
Nice review.. The Fuji 18 f2 (on an X-E3) is my most used walk around/street combo.. but that can be too wide for my tastes sometimes.. which leaves me with the 18-55 or Viltrox 33.. which are a little big for what I want to walk around with.. This seems like an interesting option, I mean $150 is really nothing for a new photography toy
Street photography is one genre where you really don’t need to spent thousands on equipment and can still take really great photographs.
The square hood link you have goes to the one for the fuji 27mm, does it fit the TTArtisan aswell does it?
Yup
The 40mm FF equivalent is my favorite 'one lens' option. If TTArtisans had really wanted to do something special they'd had made this with a bigger aperture like they've done with many other lenses.
And because of physics you couldnt keep such a compact size. Simple as that. Want a faster lens? The lens will be bigger. You can't have a small and fast lens.
@@venom2k2 I'd take that in a heartbeat. I have Fuji's 27mm so I have small now.
@@venom2k2unless you use less elements and use a lot of coating if that would work. I would love to see a compact f/2.0 as an edc lens from third party
what camera strap is that?
Focus by wire in manual?
Is the af noisy like the Fuji one?? Been looking at this the last few days so thanks for sharing review.
Good question, I haven’t noticed any. It has an STM motor.
would the lens hood of the 27mm of TT or Fuji fit with the Fujinon 35mm f/1.4???
Nah, the filter thread of that lens is probably somewhere in the 52mm range? And this is 39mm
I’ve been really eyeing this lens since it was announced. I desperately want it but then I saw there are only two reviews on Amazon both saying they don’t work at all. And then I took a look at the site and it looks like you can’t update this lens using a Mac and I have a Mac. Anyway I’ve been wondering if you’ve had any of those issues at all.
I have a Mac as well, no issues so far
Music to my ears. Definitely gonna get it
Can you use that same square hood on both the ttartisan and the Fuji 27mm?
Yes
The question of all questions, does it sound like the fuji 27mm like a printer from the 90s? :D
silent
Where did you purchase the square lens hood for the TTARTISAN 27mm lens?
Directly from squarehood
How does it compare to the 27mm f2.8? I have the mk1.
I talk a bit, about the mkII. but it's very different optically.
Hi, where did you get the square lens hood and the brand name? Thanks
geni.us/squarehood :)
That vignetting is huge
Got this lens last week just for the reasons you mentioned. Like the lens hood shown. Funny it is half the price of the lens.
right? haha
If they make an equivalent 18/19mm i'd be interested, fuji has a big gap there for street photography imo
agreed, hopefully success in this brings more innovation from them
Not a pancake but the 16mm 2.8 is pretty darned small and could somewhat play that roll.
@@halfalligator6518 not really, 18(28 equivalent) is really the widest you can go before encountering distortion, which is what makes it such a popular focal length for street shooting
@@CianMcsweeney Except I was talking about the 27mm (40mm equiv). It's sitting between 35mm (great) & 50mm (great) but apparently in the middle and it's "awkward". That's just silly. The only factor at work here is the 40mm was not mass produced over the last 50 years so people are not used to it. It's not more "boring".
We need more pancake lenses
Soo...nobody should feel ashamed for buying one??🤭 In that price range, for me and for a casual "ride" this lens is a valid option! 🤗
If you are going for the whole analog experience a flawed lens like this is pretty much adding to the experience as old lenses really aren't that good compared to modern glass.
Lander Coffee better start sponsoring you soon
haha!
I don't know. Cool Lens but I would rather add like 50$ and buy a used Fuji 27mm instead. You'd miss the aperture ring but I would rather have the real deal than a third party lens.
i legit don't understand what a "wow" focal length means. This common narrative that some focal lengths are boring is pretty crazy to me. How could 35mm be great, 50mm great... but 40mm not???
@halfalligator6518 Never understood this either. It's the composition and subject matter that makes an image 'wow' not a focal length. 40mm is a decent everyday focal length for when you're not sure where the day may take you.
In the UK you can buy an X-E4 with the Fujifilm 27mm for £150 more than the body only, which is way cheaper than buying them separately and means the lens costs about the same as the TTArtisan. I assume this applies in other countries.
Personally I wouldn't buy the TTArtisan lens because if I wanted a 27mm lens it would be my main lens for frequent use over a long period of time. Still, if someone wants to try this focal length I think it's worth buying.
The 7artisans 25mm f1.8 manual lens is like 70.00 dollars....may be better choice for some.
we also need a zoom lens for x100v.
a zoom lens on a fixed lens camera???
Am I the only one who gets a dump load of vignette on this lens? Not even wide open. Even at f/4
Yeah, it vignettes pretty hard. The price you pay for small/cheap ;)
You're at least half a stop too light.
in the sample photos or the talking head video?
Fuji film? Um ok...
Why would you buy that…I think you answered, you wouldn’t.
Lots of people love that focal length combo. I wouldn’t spend $400, but I’d buy it for &150
Not to be a party pooper, but with with China not condemning the war in Ukraine (amongst many other things), I think it’s time to start considering where to buy from. Personally, I’m trying to avoid made in China products.
Well said. It’s very difficult, but I think it is entirely appropriate. Respect ! (‘Guess I go on China’s List Now, if I’m not ther3 already ! )
I just want to provide some further information. China is not only refusing to condemn Russia, but they also provide military aids such as winter warfare provisions and necessary goods.
China helps Russian invade Ukraine in many ways.
Thats right. But how to avoid chinese products. You cant buy Smartphones anymore (except samsung). You cant buy different zechnology because the materials come from china
As a hongkonger,I really appreciate what you did mate! Not everyone can act like this and though the action stand with Hong Kong and Ukraine
Doesn't matter... All chinaaa GO!
