Wonderfully instructive thank you so much!!! I’ve been having trouble with these from the jump! Was cutting off the back side where you flipped it up then tried trimming and ugh it was just a pain! Now I know how to do this so much more effectively! Thank you muah thank you! Thank you!!! I do have a big question...I get pinholes quite a bit. It’s normally at least one or two pieces in each firing. What am I doing wrong!?

Pin holes could be caused for several reason but the most common can be resolved by putting 15 minute hold at the end of the firing. It gives time for the glaze to release what it needs to and not harden as fast. You might want to check out Washington Street on youtube. He has a video on glazing and solving problems like this. He’s my favorited resource.

I have wonderfully stumbled upon your soup and cracker bowl video. I was also noticing your blue trimming tool when you trimmed the base. What type of tool is that? I am also struggling with centering, I am going to try the method you have and lock my hands together. One additional l question is do you put a stamped signature on the bottom or just sign the pieces?
    Thanks for helping.

Thanks for watching! I got that tool at highwater clays in asheville. Mud shark Needle Knife is what it is called. On thrown pieces I prefer to sign my work but we have stamped also. Happy to help.
