What a great man....he was my Grandfathers Platoon commander in Tidworth whilst in The Rifle Brigade....and on a route March..my Grandfather and all being in full kit...and the Officers (Niven) running up the line of troops as they went up Tidworth hill (yes..I have been up it too...) stating
“...come on chaps...I would most certainly rather be going up Ginger Rogers than this fucking hill....”
True...and this is what makes him special....and a great man...especially in my Grandfathers eyes..

I just love a British gentleman! The witty humor, the style and polish, and when they're tall, its just the best ❤. Charles Dance, David Niven, Tom Hiddleston, just to name a few of my favorites

In love with the Gentleman since I was six years old .... David Niven has now departed this mortal coil .... I am , decades later , now 64, .... watching the Gentleman once more on this clip. Dare I say that I am still head over heels !?

absolutely yes - me too! Every time I see him in anything, I know that I adore him and wish I could tell him! A Matter Of Life And Death, or Candleshoe - or Separate Tables - or anything! Makes me wish for post-life reunions somewhere on the astral, if I could meet him ...

@@paulnolan4971 ah yes ... and at the end, the single tear as "proof", caught expertly on the petals of the rose ... and the immortal line about love ... which, as it is a favourite, I had written on the plaque on the back of a cinema seat I sponsored at my local art house cinema ... SO MUCH in that film which is just incredible - the colour vs/black & white, the staircase which was a feat of clever ingenuity and engineering - Absolutely tremendous stuff.

I could listen to this man telling stories for hours and days long.. love his
