I like your t-shirt; the scoop is a little low for me, but if I have a try at making it, I will use the tutorial that you mentioned to adjust it. I am learning how to sew my own clothes and have just finished my first knit garment. It worked out better than I expected, and it actually fits. I am not sure if it would be suitable for you, but I used the free pattern by Itch to Stitch called the Lago Tank.
