As a producer/artist. Sound selection and keeping things simple is the greatest thing for artists to jump on. As a producer you put your foot in a beat but it doesn't matter. Boi 1da depends on the artists and flow. A beat shouldn't be clustered.

I agree with the alchemist. Sometimes the entire beat is either completely trash or just doesn't grab me. But there will be something in the intro and/or outro that might not be in the body of the beat at all that makes you like the beat. Been plenty of times i either listened to the intro and turned the shvt off or ffw to the end and keep rewinding that to hear that unique sound that gave me ear orgasm.
I agree with metro. I've made some pretty nice work by starting with the drums first. Its fun to experiment with that idea sometimes.

Agree with Hitboy too. Simplicity. A lot of times producers forget that the artist still has to put their talent on your work.. gotta leave headroom. That means not pouring too many sounds into one project. Today i let a local artist hear a project i put together last night. Very simple beat. He wants exclusive ownership asap. So I'm waiting on copyright approval as we speak.
