- The second part of the Aquarium Plants tutorial series is a very basic presentation of the aquatic plants in general. We're answering the most common beginner's questions about plants that can be used in nano tanks or in non-CO2 environments. We try to speak as little Latin as possible and trying to create an entry-level guide presenting as many freshwater aquarium plants as possible, without overwhelming you. Did we succeed?

My day doesn’t get complete until I hear the line
“Welcome to the beautiful world of Aquascaping “
Cheers, thanks for the kind comment. Stay Tubed then!
Couldn’t stop smiling while watching this video tonight! Fun commentary!
Never be afraid to say the right words the wrong way. It’s good conversation at least and a kind friend will then get the chance to help you say it better.
Haha, indeed, thanks for the comment Daniel. :)
Great work! By far the best aquatic channel on YT. And these guys actually respond if you ask a question. These people are focused on the best aquatic results, pushing the limits of the scape world and putting customers first!

Thanks for the tips!!!! Help me gain lot knowledge
Good to hear that, cheers, and thanks for the feedback.
Awesome video! Your channel is probably my favorite one, you guys always provide lots of information in a nice way! And your videos really helped me with setting up my first high tech tank! Greetings from Poland, whenever I’ll be passing by Budapest, i’ll make sure to visit you!
That is cool to hear, looking forward to have you over someday! Thanks for the kind comment!
Very nice video!! Thank you!!! Hello from Greece!!!😀
Thanks for the feedback, you're great. Cheers.
This channel is so good. Much tutorial and guide for us as a beginner aquascape haha and low tech non CO2 tank!! Thanks much
You're welcome, glad you find useful what we do. Cheers.
Love this video type! Please make more like this. I wish I can order plants from you to help support the channel but I live in USA. Great videos thanks for the info!
Thanks for that! You can support us by just watching and commenting. It means a lot, really! Cheers!
It is much easy to understand by watching you guys... Thanks, Green Aqua.
You're welcome, glad you liked this.
Another dope video. Thanx guys.
Cheers, thanks for the cool feedback!
Thanks to the green aqua for giving me more experience about plants, the video is great
Cheers, glad you found this useful.
Really glad that they touched on how setup can impact plants in ways other than 'it won't grow'. In particular, as a beginner doing low tech I was extremely frustrated trying to get reds into the tank because they just wouldn't do it. Lots of internet wisdom led me to trying to dose more iron, putting red potters clay in the substrate, and any number of other things all to no effect. I'd also never heard it called ARM- always "AR Mini" here in my local.
I’ve found that Staurogyne Repens works well for carpeting without CO2. Especially in a shallow tank. You can take trimmings and plant nearby and it fills in very nicely.
Yes stauro is a good low-tech plant, but you'll have to trim it often to keep it low. Some people just don't like that effort - including me, haha.
I love your style and content. Thanks
Thanks Jane 🙏
Very helpful, thanks! 😊
Glad to read this. :)
Thanks for watching us.
Good video! Thanks!🌱🌱🌱
Thanks for the feedback, cheers.
totally forgot this was Thursday! lol really love this video!!! so useful for people like me who don't have co2!
So glad to read this! Good thing that we reminded you, haha!
Ace video thank you for the inspiration to start my first ever tank
That is a cool project, so exciting. Good luck with it Matthew, and remember: you'll be better and better with every scape you do, so don't expect to be perfect with the first one. This a very nice learning process.
This was educational and a lot of fun! 😁👏🏼
Glad you found this useful!
جزاك اللهُ
Thank you
Another great video, lots of info - very helpful. I will be watching this a few more times as I get closer to a high tech set up.
Thanks guys - loving your work
Marc from uk
Thanks for the feedback mate, your support is much appreciated - as always. Cheers.
Another question... if I were to set up a low tech tank with only epiphyte plants would I still need to use an aqua soil base or would a sterile gravel/ pebble base be ok as I would be adding liquid fertilizers?
Thanks for your help
It is not necessary, and it would be more beautiful to use some decoration sand around the structure you build.
@@GreenAquaShop Thank you... Your a huge inspiration and help : )
Thank you very much
You're welcome. :)
Very informative. Thank you, as always! - Little Bobby
Cheers Bobby. :)
Thanks for the watching.
Hola, como siempre un video fantástico sobre plantas.
Saludos.

Wonderful lesson, Thank you both, yes start learning the Latin words for my friends who will visit my house. lol
LOL.
Another great clip guys ! I take pride in saying I’ve learned most of all i know from greenaqua Farmer and Jurijs videos ! I wish I could attach my tanks picture so you guys can see how much of an impact you guys make ! Love the videos guys
Thanks David, so glad we contributed to your enjoyment of the hobby. Mission accomplished, really.
This channel bring me back to this hoby :D
Mission accomplished, very cool to hear.
super nice quality video and awesome plants talk
Thanks for the kind comment, you're great!
I would love video about plants for higher water temperatures. Greetings from sizzling Arizona!
Quarantine. That's one word he wouldn't miss pronounce after 3 months of corvid. Great vid. Please do more of this you two.
Guess what, I said it and CZcams demonetized that video thinking I'm talking about the pandemic. I had to dispute that and it got released. Haha.
nice vid green aqua, quality delivered as expected :)
Cheers, thanks for watching Matej, as always.
Agree for dwarf hair-grass, no progress without of CO2
Thanks for supporting Tommy's experience. Cheers.
Amazing...
Cheers, thx!
EXCELENTE POR FIN LA TRADUCCUION BIEN SEÑORES SON LOS MEJORES
Thanks so much, glad you like the 'innovation' here. Sorry, that it is automatic subtitles only, but this is what we could do now.
very informative video again.. thanks
Thanks for watching, and thx for the feedback too. Cheers.
luminophila grows really well in low tech setups. its my favourite background plant
Thanks for sharing your experience with us, and thanks for watching too. Cheers.
you are amazing!!
Thanks a lot. :)
I see ''for beginners'',i share,i like!
Cheers, thanks for the support!
Love all your videos very informative on how to use different types of plants my favorite plant is the anubia nana petite in one the pet store near me had only one time albino anubia nana petite and I was wondering does Green Aqua carries this plant
Of course! :)
Oh my!!!! That many subtitles!!! Love your। videos. Thanks for helping us in this hobby . Love from Bangladesh
Welcome to our channel 😄Cheers to Bangladesh
Literally filling my brains with info everytime I watch one of your videos guys. I love how you all explain things, and how honest you guys are too. It really helps me (and I'm sure others) plan out their aquariums and maintain them afterwards. For example I planted hair grass (was told it wouldnt need co2) and it pretty much melted within four days, if only I watched this video before I bought the hair grass hahaha but I'll be adding co2 soon after hearing your advice. Thank you, you damn beautiful people
Cheers, thanks for the cool comment! Glad you found the info we provide useful! Really.
@@GreenAquaShop always!
Like. Спасибо огромное ребята за перевод. Видео стало смотреть намного комфортнее. Thanks from Russia.
Cheers, it's auto translate but that's what we could do in a short run. Will add that to our older videos too.
The only plant I got red color from in a low grade tank was Melon plant, and I had to add liquid iron daily. I love to listen to your accent and you do really well with English. Keep up the good work! WV USA
Thanks Jennifer, doing my best :) Yeah, Iron helps with the red colors too, but it's mainly the light...
good one guys.. 🎉
Green Aqua is my favourite channel on CZcams. I hope you guys post the videos a bit more frequently. 💚
Thanks for the support, glad you like what we do. Our production quality can only be ensured with weekly one video - on Thursday, with occasional cinematic short on Monday. We simply can't do more, we spend too much time with the production - more than you can imagine. Plus we're answering all comments, I don't know many youtubers who do that.
Thank you. For responding my comment . Lots of love to you people from Bangladesh . We love watching your videos . ❤❤❤❤❤
Thanks again for the support man!
I'm here waiting.

Cheers Tugger!
i really enjoy these types of Q&A videos. One of the commenters mentioned that you should do a video on specific plant species, which i completely agree with. A 3-4 min video outlining the pro's and cons of each plant and tips on how to use them in a scape would go a long way towards helping us rookies progress in this hobby. Maybe break it out into a separate mini series? Anyway, keep up the good work and thank you for putting out quality content.
Now that you backed up the idea I'm really starting to think on how to do this. Thanks!
I would love this!! It's hard to find videos on specific plant types some times and these guys would fill that void with a series on that
Cheers! Thanks for the vote!
Nice tutorial
Thanks, glad you liked it. Cheers.
i see those plants/moss are so happy =)
Yeah! They get everything they need.
Great tutorial Bala
Thanks! Cheers!
Really nice video 👍👊🏻
Cheers, thanks for watching! As always.
I just can’t decide whether to choose a cube, 20 or 30 l, but I will definitely have another aquarium soon, albeit a nano :-) thank you for this video!
The bigger the better - it's more stabile and you can keep more fish. 20 liter is very very small.
Great vid,fun with plants, keeping it short ,thanks guys. Lol
Lol Ed, there you go, you know if you want. Haha. Thanks mate.
That was pretty funny. ^^^ Well played, Ed. 🤣
Water temperature in planted tanks is often overlooked, good to see you guys mention it in your videos.
Yes, you are right. Very important!
Useful video
Need video above how to sink driftwood
Driftwood usually sinks. If not, you can tie it to a rock that you place it underneath (with cable ties) or you can just weigh it down with rocks initially. Check out our setup videos, all is explained there.
love your Videos :)))))))))))))))))))))
Cheers, mission accomplished then.
Thank you for your useful information...👌🙏hello from iran😍
Cheers, thanks for watching.
I love watching your videos because you teach a lot and it's not boring at all as you make fun of your fellow mates in the middle 😜.. can you teach us how to grow moss in detail as a single video ?
Moss is really easy to grow, I don't think that is a topic that should be covered separately. Most types are fine even without CO2.
Today, 3 months into my high tech nanoscape, I hate stem plants too. I never knew why you guys didn’t like it but now I know. Two bowls of trimmed plants was ridiculous lol.
See, this is a hard but beautiful hobby 👍
I really like lilaeopsis brasiliensis and it's one of the best plant for low tech. I even had a tank that I want to rescape and had those ant in a tank with 2 months light off and this plant was in a extremely good shape green and great.
Yepp, we just scaped a full-brasiliensis tank.
Always a great topic for discussion. I just stick with plants that are good for my water parameters, hard and acidic. I won't use co2 injection until I learn everything I can about low tech plants and everything relatable about it, lights, substrates etc. I will get into the beautiful world of co2 in the future thank to you guys, but no need to rush the learning process, I'm having a lot of fun with my tanks and watching green aqua every week.
Yeah, that's the proper way, take your time, and do things at your own pace. Much better than running forward like crazy, I agree.
Watching you guys is the perfect way to relax and learn in the same time. You are the best, thank you for making my day. 🙏👌👍😊😍
Once i used hair grass in non Co2 tank, and it didn't make it, totally melted, so Tamás was right about that : hair grass need Co2. This is my opinion. 😄😉
Thanks for the vote (against the hairgrass, haha).
@@GreenAquaShop 😂😂😂
I agree on the dwarf hair grass, I planted a lot of it in a non-co2 tank and it all died. I used liquid fertilizer but to no avail.
Thanks for the feedback. Did you use liquid carbon though?
Tq beo
Wow, Indonesian subtitles, thank you😎
Yeah, it's automatic, but better than nothing.
I love green aqua.... love from India ( Tamil Nadu)
We love you too, thanks for the support.
Thanks for your videos for beginners guys. Can u suggest plants for discus aquarium with high techs. (For 150x60x60)
Very helpful videos? Are you ever going to do live-streams? Or do you already and I just haven’t seen them yet, I am fairly new to the channel, only been watching for about one month. Thanks for all the help guys :)
We do some livestreams nowadays on instagram, but the quality of these will not meet our standards, so we usually stick to this format - it seams to be working fine.
I really like your videos I wish you guys were in the states
Me too, me too. :) Maybe with time. Thanks for the support!
I ♥️ Green Aqua
We love you too. Cheers.
Thank you so much for such a informative video.
And what about growing Monte Carlo without CO2 injection? There are a lot of videos about it. Some people say that it is complicated to grow plant, others stayed on easy to grow plant.
What is your opinion about Monte Carlo without CO2?
Not recommended. The fact that it might work for some it's not a guarantee.
Love the videos Green Aqua; any chance you want to share the "loved ones" as referenced at 15:23?
Staurogyne reppens is my FAVORITE plant, I have a nice carpet going in a low tech tank - I just call it "S" reppens
Good naming, might use that from now on if I may :) S reppens is a nice plant indeed.
@@GreenAquaShop - I believe I first heard that from our good friend George Farmer
Okey, it legit then. Haha.
Have you thought about the reverse osmosis video? Which type to choose, how to start using RO water, advantages, disadvantages. What to watch out for. thanks
I did a maintenance video and RO guide just last week Ladislav. Don't miss that. :)
Thanks for indonesia subtitle, i appreciated it
You're welcome!
Green Aqua, please upload a video about how to fertilize, lights intensity control, do water changes day by day right after a new setup. Thank you!
We have these, please check out our tutorials playlist.
Great video as always and lots of information and ideas! I keep throwing around the idea of CO2 but I guess i am afraid to try it. I have been running a low tech no CO2 from the very beginning but keep seeing and hearing about using Co2. I have a 56 column tank and wouldn't know where to start. Would it be worth looking into a kit?
You should definitely do it, there's nothing to be afraid of, it makes the world's difference.
Can you guys do a videos about the pests in the aquascape ? i had dragonfly fry in my tank, and lots of snails (which i never bought)
Snails do sometimes show up in a tank but their numbers stabilize if the tank is in balance and you remove as much as you can manually and suck them out during water changes. If the water quality is good you should not see any pests in the tank. Never seen dragonfly fry in any tanks before.
