  • I was having issues with my Tahoe not starting and it was turning off while I was driving and all the lights/locks would go crazy. I looked it up online and most people said that it was a ground issue or the battery cables. I tried cleaning the grounds but that didn’t fix the issue. So I changed the 175 amp and the negative battery cable. I drove almost 300 miles this weekend and no issues so I think that fixed my problem!

Thanks Mike. I'm going to try replacing my Neg. cable. Yesterday, it died on me as I was turning a corner. No interior lights, NOTHING ! It was like there was no battery in the truck. (2014 Silverado). Jiggled the neg. cable, then all of a sudden, full power. Never seen anything like this. Could have been a very dangerous situation on the intestate, no 4 ways, brake light etc. ! Not the first time this has left me "stranded". BTW, BEAUTIFUL Impala in your driveway, CLEAN !!!

@@CarolinaMikeGarage Good morning, Mike. I recently brought the truck into a GM dealership to have the neg. cable replaced. I attempted to, but, it really needed to be put up on a lift. What the hell was GM thinking when they grounded this cable ?? Had the cable and the "fuse block" junction box attached to the top of the battery replaced also, as suggested. The reason I'd brought it into a dealership (which I never do), is because the repair is now noted by GM ! IF there should ever be a recall due to this problem, I may be reimbursed for the repairs. Found out that if these repairs were done by a neighborhood garage, GM would never be made aware of this condition. Thanks again and hopefully this issue is resolved.

I just changed my bcm they are notorious on these SUV’s for going out had to have it replaced and reprogrammed. One more for you look by your passenger tire where the door is and find your ac line that drips water ok and there will be a Coolant line that runs to the back you will see a strap that holds wires in place remove the metal strap it will make a small hole on the coolant line and it will make you think it’s you ac dripping and you will wonder why you truck is overheating just trying to help like you help others stay blessed thanks🙏

Hey all, I have a 14 Tahoe that was having a similar issue. Occasional no start and turned into no power in the truck at all. Completely dead. Turned out to be the main power connection into the underhood fuse box. It's basically a large spade terminal that overtime loosened up and add to that a little corrosion caused major head aches. Search how to split the fuse box and once it's open you can't miss the connection. A little sandpaper and pinch the female side a little tighter with a pair of pliers. That's what worked for me.

I have watched every video and read every article I could find and my final analysis is that GM should be embarrassed to build with this quality and should stand behind their product.

If u see on the right side of the engine (opposite of the battery side) there is an open braided Mickey mouse ground cable connecting to the back of the engine, unreachable..... to the chassis frame. Wow…. Ya I have one acting up right now intermittently. 2015 similar symptoms but add 50 no com codes and a bizarre radio on and off. Runs and drives great.

Here's a test to everyone's electrical knowledge. 2005 Tahoe. New battery. Starter is good.
Turn the key and everything comes on, but the starter doesn't turn over.
Try connecting a wire from the 87 pin on the relay to the positive on the battery with the key in the run position and nothing. Tried it for hours.
Put the key in the on position and tried to straighten the wheel but it wouldn't turn, and I tried it one more time and it started right up.
Parked it with a straight wheel, shut it off but it wouldn't turn over. Wiggled the wheel and it still wouldn't turn over.
The ground at the back of the engine "Feels" tight but couldn't climb back there to check for sure.
    Anybody experience something like this?
