- Halo Master Chief Collection have updated all Halo games to run at 4K60 on Xbox One X........well this is the perfect opportunity to showcase one of my favourite Halo campaign of all time in sweet 4K60.
I absolutely love this game from the atmosphere to the odd unique weapons and of course wandering the night time streets, alone in the rain with unbelievable music.
If you are getting Master Chief Collection with xbox game pass, then I highly recommend checking ODST out, it is DLC but it unbelievably cheap - Hry

During the opening drop, as the Covenant carrier opens it's slipspace portal, you can see the UNSC In Amber Clad flying into the portal on the right side of the carrier.

@@isaacenduro5916 The spirits in Halo wars were the ones with two arm like infantry carriers. They had their name changed to that in Halo wars to stick with the ghost like aesthetic. Ghost, phantom, spirit, revenant, and so on.
To be honest they could have made this game dark as hell if you watched all your squad mates die in the flash backs and in the end the rookie had to finish the mission on his own.
Well that just sounds like Reach with extra steps

Bungie underestimated the workload of developing ODST and Reach at the same time. They should’ve completed one before starting on the other, even if it took a year or so longer.
Knowing Microsoft, Bungie probably didn't have a choice.

Also, they were making Reach, ODST and the early stages of Destiny. Bungie made ODST in a year to get out of their contract faster lmao. Microsoft wanted a small DLC sized Halo 3 expansion (even got the copywrite of the word Recon, Halo 3: Recon) and then Microsoft came in, and were like "damn, this is a entire game, not a DLC? Shit, nice job" and then Bungie looked stupid as they realised the game wasn't worth $60 but they really wanted out of the contract by 2010.
Eg, that's why they also released Reach beta and 3's map pack with ODST.
I can give the source for this btw, they said this themselves.

The article is a good read. Also, the idea's and development for ODST is a good read for sake of entertainment, they were def passionate about it. You see these cutscenes? One guy did them. The team was so small because it was a B team, (left overs) and also Bungie gave payouts depending on the project so therefore nobody wanted to work on ODST because less pay.
Sad really, ODST is easily the second best Halo game, and Reach is easily one of the worst.

Reach is extremely subjective I've noticed, with one end praising it and the other hating it. Personally, for me both are amazing games. Can never go wrong with (Bungie era) Halo.

This and Reach had the best stories

Playing as a human rather than a SUPER SOLDIER made the characters much more relatable and wanting to know more about them FUN FACT the audiobook of halo called: "New Blood" Buck talks about his experience through the UNSC and some of his ODST squads and talks all about the New Mombasa story all the way up to and past becoming a Spartan. I've listened to it maybe 25 times! It's so so good!!! 😁👏👏👏

I love this, the whole dynamic of the team. The reliance, i can’t begin to imagine how hurt Buck felt when Mickey did the thing. I mean… don’t get me wrong, I read both the books. He does not like him. But… must’ve stung harder than anything ever could.
Was it ever explained as to why he defected in the first place? And what happened to butch and Romeo?
@@Peter-os7nk Romeo defected because he didn’t like what the UNSC was doing to the outer colony worlds, Dutch retired to be with Gretchen(An old ODST squad mate who, they have a relationship). Dutch gets reinstated into the SIV after Gretchen was offered a position which would repair her battle wounds.

This really feels like a bygone era, where a franchise releasing a banger was practically expected.
Maybe it's the rose-tinted goggles of my childhood, but having Halo 1-3 release with what felt like the end of the story, then having 3 spin-off games release that expanded the lore (outside of the books) and gave us unique gameplay between all 3 spin-offs? It never felt like anything bad could happen.
Meanwhile, Gears of War also had nothing but bangers in its first trilogy, then Judgement, which i thought was a lot of fun and, again, expanded the lore and everything.
God of War too.
All these games releasing in the 00s were just... AWESOME. And then the 10s happened and every game started being a gamble, online communities shrunk, physical presentations became false promises.
I miss the era when it felt like companies understood that having a great relationship eith the fans was what MADE MONEY, rather than just believing we would lap up everything with a recognisable brand name on it.

The scene with the brute with the gravity hammer is like the scene in Halo Landfall, but in this the ODST is alive.
Honestly I knew I’d love this game as soon as the story in text popped up with the subtle and soft music. I love the main halo games but ODST just hit different.

They are a crappy company with crappy writers. They kill off a bunch of important characters off-screen they aren't capable of telling a good story.

We are NOT getting that, especially after the Disaster that is Infinite.

My very first halo game, I didn’t understand any of the lore, or pay attention to any of the story, but holy hell was it a fun one
Took me all this time to realize that the Engineer at the start wasn't trying to harm Buck. It was asking for help, and saying it knew where Veronica went. The gear on it's back wasn't him activating it, that's a covenant device, reacting to the live ODST.
I noticed how the first cutscene was from halo 2 from the mission metropolis after the scarab was destroyed and the covenant ship was leaving into slip space and blowing everything out
I love the pqrt were buck and voranica kiss in the elevator and the rookie and the engine look at eachother trying not to be awkward
One of the best stories in Halo, they should do something like this again. Like a Halo ODST or Marine part 2.
sorry to say my friend but the "Rookie" from Halo 3 ODST died in the novel halo new blood so it is unlikely they will release a sequel this game

Maybe the player could be the leader of Buck’s old ODST squad since Buck is a Spartan now? Last time I saw halo 3 odst was when I was a kid, I never realized it was halo 2 odst, the covenant ship that teleports along with miranda and the chief in halo 2 after killing the scarab caused all that mess, and the ships are opening the hole that appears in a mission in halo 3 after killing another scarab, intersting, the scarabs connect halo 2, 3 and odst
If you look super closely when the ship jumps you can see the In Amber Clad pull up along side it and jump with it.

8:54 I’ve always wondered, what does that beam do exactly? Outside of the cutscene, Engineers will only do it randomly when idle and won’t actually do it once they notice the player, so I doubt it’s for combat purposes. It also seems to be an ability given to them from their masks. Maybe it’s some sort of “scanner” for finding Forerunner technology?

So that was Sadie's dad. I just played ODST for the first time because I've played halos 1 through 5 and Sadie's side story was the best part I think. It was really compelling and really captivating.
He was a team leader of the large group of Kinsler's division of dirty cops they were basically a gang of bandits that took advantage of new mombasa's people during the Invasion just find all the audio logs it explains it his mission was to make sure Sadie's dad was actually dead and find the superintendent and lock down and secure the data center but they didn't expect an entire nest of buggers to be in the data center

I have to say, this odst soundtrack got me through some long nights after work.
I love this damn game. The story is so good, and the graphics were amazing at the time.
I love the story. It's enjoying, something a little bit dark and makes you think they should make this into a movie. I love some games has a great story you can relate on.

what was the monkey human all about? and what was the last scene with the engineers and Regret all about?
Monkey was a easter egg. Since this was built off of Halo 3, they reused the assets from there including the monkey family easter eggs on the first level. It's not canon, just a little goofing off, like having Chief's cryo pod in the hangar at the end of Halo Reach.
Regret showing up is basically the culmination of the parallels to Dante's Inferno taken to the conclusion. Throughout the entire game Rookie and the rest of the team descend through parallels to the different rings of Hell as described in that story. It all leads to coming across the Devil himself, in this case Truth.
In-universe it is Truth confirming the existence of the Ark Portal that we see in Halo 3.

The EMP knocked out their electronics, most couldn't deploy their chutes or deceleration measures. As a result, pretty much all of the ODSTs died above the carrier. Buck and his squad only lived because they were so far off course.
My head canon is a Normandy style scattered landing with small groups scattered around the city

How can SGT Johnson be in the last cutscene if he was onboard the In Amber Clad which jumped to the halo ring in the slip space cutscene?
It takes place a month after the events of ODST, so the cutscene had to take place just right before Halo 3 and by then Johnson was back from the ring
Johnson and Miranda made a truce with the Arbiter and presumably they used an Elite ship to fast jump to Earth.
