Join us on this great cook with the Dutch Oven. This is a Family Favorite from the old days. This can be made for very little money because you can use any kind of beef and it makes a little go a long way. I will show you all the steps to make this at camp, at home or you can also do it in the oven with your cast iron. I'm also going to do a first time review of the Southern Biscuit Formula L Mix.

Backwoods Gourmet Channel That looks amazing! Thanks for sharing, I’m definitely going to do this one.
Cold corn-pone, cold corn-beef, butter and buttermilk-that is what they had for me down there, and there ain’t nothing better that ever I’ve come across yet. Buck and his ma and all of them smoked cob pipes, except the hag woman, which was gone, and the two young women. They all smoked and talked, and I eat and talked. The young women had quilts around them, and their hair down their backs. They all asked me questions, and I told them how pap and me and all the family was living on a little farm down at the bottom of Arkansaw, and my sister Mary Ann run off and got married and never was heard of no more, and Bill went to hunt them and he warn’t heard of no more, and Tom and Mort died. This was in Arkansaw.
I really like your videos and the name of it,cause I'm from the backwoods of Louisiana.Keep it going.
Love the 8" CDO meals you cook, maybe gather them into a separate play list for knot heads like me.
What is as much fun as watching your prepare and cook the food is watching your enjoy it after it is done! I love cooking in a Dutch Oven over coals from the campfire or over charcoal. A lot of that fun went away when my late wife died five years ago. The motivation is just gone when there is nobody else to eat it but just me. So, now I get to enjoy it vicariously watching you. THANK YOU!!
Get yourself a 2 quart Dutch Oven and go out and cook for yourself. Something satisfing about it.
This looks awesomely delicious. My husband can make biscuits with that biscuit mix. You can make your own mix. Look it up. I love cooking on open fire and in cast iron. But when you get older the heavier it gets. Awesome videos. Thanks for making the videos. 🕊✌👍
Looks wonderf6,!
Trick for moving coals is used license plate made into mini dust pan about 4 to 5 inches across with handle. Metal only...
nice job make it look easy Take Care
Oh my gosh!!! 🤤 Saved!
In south Carolina we call your meal beef stew and we usually pour it over mashed potatoes or rice. However, you have done a great job.
Just started watching your channel. You really do a good job! Good work!!!!

I’ve always used Bisquik for biscuits, pancakes, etc. this recipe looks amazing.
Wonderful meal for two.
You hooked me in when you said a recipe for two in the Dutch , yay! Now I need a 8” oven. Looks like a good rainy day meal 👍

Loving the Backwoods Gormet. I'm here in England, UK, going out to camp with my mrs and kids this weekend, taking my Dutch oven. Thanks for some good inspiration. Jules Gray 😁👍

Great looking dish! I’m going to give it a go.
That looks amazingly good. I will be trying that.
Wow! Awesome rainy day hunting camp vittles, too. All I've got at this moment is Bisquick, and I'm going to make me some biscuits.
We have used that biscuit mix a long time it is consistently good. When making biscuits wetter dough has risen better for me. We always use more cheese than they call for.
Yay! a two person meal in the 2 quart...looks really good, need to find that biscuit mix
Looks absolutely delicious, I've seen the biscuit mix at our publix just haven't tried it, gonna pick some up next time I'm there. Great video👍👍
Fantastic video and recipe! Of course at our deer camp we'll be eating it on paper plates, so the presentation won't compare!
Nice. I’ve made a very similar dish using a pressure cooker but never used the cast-iron. I may have to give that a shot as well
Southern Biscuit is awesome been using it 25 plus years, great dish will try thanks for sharing BW.
Amazing recipe....
Southern Biscuit Mix = Bisquick =

I am definitely trying this. Your presentation is pro. It looked so amazing the whole way through.
Hay it's me again I some what pre bake the biscuits first not even 1/2 way then I put them in . But yours looks good enough to be in a 5 STAR RESTAURANT 👍👍👍👍👍🇺🇸
Wow, that dish looked fantastic. Gotta try that, thanks! 👍
Yummmmm, good morning to that!😋
Man that looks good. It looks like how we make homemade chicken pot pie in a casserole dish except with beef instead. Great video!
Looks really good! I’m gonna have to make up a bunch of that and as always, I never perfectly follow a recipe. It’s gotta be made your own.
You have outdone yourself once again! Dang that looks good.
Man that looks delicious man!!!! I'm going to try that with some leftover deer meat! I can't get that biscuits mix up here in Pennsylvania. I guess I could try Biscquik mix.
That looks so good.
Thank you for the recipe.
I'm a fan of root veggies & make my stews with potatoes, carrots, rutabagas, turnips, parsnips, brusselsprouts & mushrooms etc.
I love your use of swiss chard stalks to replace the celery. I think it would be good with some of the leaf in it also.
I don't have a dutch oven but I'll definitely be making it this week.
Thank you again.
Man I get hungry watching your videos.
Love It! Thanks so much for bringing joy to us all! Blessings.
Thanks for watching.
Looks awesome! I need to try that one.
Sounds and looks delicious. Going have to try this one soon.

I just discovered your channel recently, but dang man I'm waiting on my invitation to your house for breakfast! Everything you make looks fantastic
It absolutely looks delicious 😋
I’ve always used formula L biscuit mix. I keep winning blue ribbons.
As always another great video. Those look amazing
Hi BGC
Just recently found your channel thank you for taking the time to make these videos.
Im not a cook who uses Cast Iron, heck I'm not even a Cook.
But Im trying and constantly venturing out. Just wanted to tip my hat at ya and say thanks I enjoy your vids.
Russ
That's all I use is the southern biscuit mix
Would be a great cold winter day meal, Keep them coming. Happy New Year!
This looks amazing! Ever try doing an entire layer of biscuit over the top? We usually camp with 6-8 adults and have a #12 DU.
Can't wait to try this. Hope the biscuit mix will be available here in CO.
You can do the same thing, but with blueberries. Call it blueberry cobbler. Nonetheless, cool recipe! Thanks!
Outstanding recipe like the bay leaf ,need to get one of those 2 guarts , Happy New Year to you an your family 🔥🏕🖒🍗
This mix is OK,saves a step. If you can't find it just use sr flour and lard cut in ,add bmilk. If you aint got bmilk ,add one Tsp vinegar to 1 cup sweet milk. Nice recipe. Subbed.
Looks yummy! Going to have to try it soon!
Sounds and looks good.....
I think maybe I would use just a little less broth and make up for it with a little semi sweet red wine.
Looks great 💕💕💕💕🐊
