How to Build the Greatest Sawhorses Ever Invented

  • I've been using the jackass sawhorse since late 2017 and love them. Ed Hunt invented them jackasssawhors...
You can purchase a kit from him, or do what I did and purchase the plans. I just buy the parts locally. The hinges and rope were about $15 and the rope will build 20 sets.
As a framer and sider I want to be able to really load up saw horses and these have performed really well. I know some finish carpenter how make them out of 1/2" sheathing to keep them light.
The tools I use and recommend acmetools.pxf....
Please remember that I'm not showing the best way to do anything, but just the method that works well for us. Thanks for watching!
Oh and another takeaway, if you use a drone for commercial work, you need to be part107 certified. Commercial work includes social media like CZcams if you plan to make an income off of that. I watched a video about this last May and then purchased the Part 107 Course sso.teachable.... I studied and learned for 1 month and then took my test. I scored a 95%, which is a testament to how good Greg and the crew over there teach. That link will save you $100 off the course and support this channel.

Drill the corners of the lightening hole/cutout. Much stronger and much less chance of splitting from the radius edges. Almost no extra time needed!

I think it is funny when people say they invented something that has been around for decades, my dad and his contractor friends used to make some VERY similar to these back in the 70's except they made them out of cabinet grade plywood. Good video, I had forgotten all about these.

Yep, used to make these all the time. If you don’t have hinges (who does?), just line up the top edges and drive a few 16ds all the way through. Then spread them back open to what ever width you want. Lastly, use the piece you cut out of the middle as the “stringer” to hold the legs in place. Makes a nice tool table underneath too.

Advantech Lifetime warranty. I have a lifetime of experience. Borkleboard products (any and all pressed particle, strand, chip board products) Now hear this,,, NONE of them have lasted a lifetime. None of them have held diagonal driven hardwood flooring pins or nails. If your total intent is to build for today,, and your 9intent is that all floors will be carpet or laminated type flooring,, or other. Then by all means,,, use borkleboard. You'll get what you pay for,,,,, you may be lucky,, and you may not. Sawhorses? You spend too much. Mine are scrap 2X stock or even new 2X4 2 and 1/3 8 footers needed per sawhorse. Screws are preferred but machine nails work well. They don't fold, but they do stack. Faster, cheaper, at least as strong, no metal hinge to miss, 1/3 the price, just the saw and a screw gun for manufacture.
