- Bottom bracket is a place where mud from your seatpost likes to collect.It's always a good habit to clean it after heavy riding. In this clip I'll show you how to maintain your bb by:
- removing shimano hollowtech system
- unscrewing bottom bracket
- cleaning bottom bracket
- lubing bottom bracket
- reinstalling bottom bracket

CLEAN the bike first...just sayin'
Even if it says not to dissesamble on the shell it's no problem removing the plastic cover to get access to the ball bearings. Just gently pry with a flathead screw driver. That way you can flush it clean and regrease properly.
Would doing this resolve any play?
@@ashab1 Not sure about that. I've never had play in the bearings. Have you checked so the crank is properly seated with the special tightening tool?
@@janbovin mine is a bit different than the one in the video if I put the crank side in as far as possible there is still slight movement but when I go to put the other arm on it’s not going on all the way I think I need a new crank, 👍
@@ashab1 Might be worth leaving it with your local bike mechanic before you buy new.

Step one clean it, property with water and a suitable cleaning solution. All you did here was contaminate some fresh grease and cause some extra wear on your bike. It would go probably been better and lasted longer if you hadn’t done this at all.

Siemka :D Tu Marcin, spotkaliśmy się w lesie miejskim. Szary Bop Stonebreaker z białym Domainem 302 na przodzie :) Na pewno pamiętasz. Tak więc, jakbyś podważył te plastiki nożem, to by wyskoczyły i miałbyś dostęp do łożysk, które ja osobiście czyszczę w benzynie, suszę, /nakładam smar, zakładam uszczelnienia i wpycham plastik/ x 2-3. Smar się przepycha przez całe łożysko, aż wychodzi z drugiej strony. Polecam, szczególnie jak suport umiera, a nie ma luzów, zawsze jeszcze trochę pokręci :)
Zgadza się ;) osobiście wole łożyska wybić i wymienić na nowe bo kosztują kilka złotych, ale dzięki za info!
No, no :) ale jak dopada zimowa depresja to już lepiej ten smar po przepychać przez te łożyska :D
On my Bottom bracket it says "do not dissassemble", but you need to remove the hard plastic covers to really access the bearings, hard to do without breaking, they crack like egg shells. I see you apply grease from the inside, I'm not sure how well it gets to the actual bearing. It might work with pressurized grease spray.
I'm thinking just run the bearings until they are ready for the trash, then replace.
