I too live alone on a narrowboat. Well apart from the voices in my head of course......
My diesel hydronic heater pipes run under the floors which keeps them warm. It's a planar model. It's essentially a truck heater used by long haul truckers to heat their cab and engine. It's nice because it runs on a very efficient low power 12V system, that heats the air and hot water tank. It's lovely to be able to set it to come on at the coldest times and fill those fireplace gaps. If you install it yourself, it's very inexpensive (kit is $1,200 canadian plus $100 for each radiator). Also, it's about the size of a coffee thurmas.
Another lovely vlog. You always make me feel relaxed, youâve got a really calming voice. Your boat looks really cosy with the log burning fire. Take care Marina and Miles. X
I live in a country that no longer has mains electricity 24x7 so the Jackery is a must, it's a jolly good piece of kit, couldn't do without it. Nice video, thank you.
Thanks for the videoâŠIâm always enjoying your videosâŠstay safe and take care!!
Again another very calming vlog, itâs nice to see just normal life on the narrowboat. To expensive nowadays to waste old eh. Thanks Marina for the lovely vlog, stay safe guys and see you next week. đ
I always look forward to your videos ... so delicately arranged and quite fun x
I hope you're enjoying your time here in Henley and that you got to see the Christmas Market and the lights being turned on! I moved here in March 2020 and don't see myself going elsewhere anytime soon. Getting myself a boat is now on the agenda though.
Beautiful thank you! Your morning routine is so similar to mine! Thank you for sharing â€ïžđ
Ok, I found you and started with your first episode. Iâm around episode 60 now. Ok, girl, when are you doing a cookbook? You make some fabulous food. I am so enjoying your journeys.
Hi Elizabeth, thanks so much for your kind words! I would love to make a cook book! đ xx
There are some of those black and white tufted ducks that live next to me and they're my favourite. They've got lovely shaped heads and I love their colouring.
Did I hear Suid Afrika in your accent? I'm a sailor, not a canal boater... But get 5 veg a week, a steamer and steam it (13 mins - it's crunchy, but it keeps all it's goodness), say 2 or 3 times a week - then you can give up on eating all the weird stuff. I suggest (because it works) here in the UK - Cauliflower, carrots, onions and cabbage. Your 4 main essentials. Then I'd add broccoli as your 5th. It just seems to make everything work better. (In the steamer, layer it - carrots, cabbage, Cauliflower, broccoli (otherwise the broccoli tastes like raw fish if you don't put onions right above it), onions. I suffer from eczema now that I've moved to the UK? And this gets rid of it. I hate veg but I throw salt (very light on the salt, very, very - knock yourself out with everything else... but easy with the salt. Bare minimum. Or just don't use it at all.), pepper, vinegar (Balsamic vinegar if your going posh - and yeah it's a lot better), then Sriracha chilli sauce and finally, onion gravy. That way you can't taste the veg. (I hate the bloody stuff!) Eat whatever meat you like with it - doesn't matter. This is what cures my eczema. All that other fancy veggie food stuff? Man. It doesn't work. I've tried it. I've tried bloody everything. Nothing like an ailment to sort out what works and what don't. Best of luck!
Lovely vlog as usual Marina, that meal you made looked delicious. I was salivating đ. Loved the mad spell at the end â€
Hi just subscribed đ nice film I keep looking at the Jackery for caravaning like the Christmas đ tree .. enjoyed watching thanks Glyn
Awww welcome, welcome! We love our Jackery, its incredibly useful đ xx
Great Vlog Marina. Great to see Myles at the end. I have a Jackery also. They are really good. Have a great week. Take care.
That's interesting, word-for-word the same message and product plug as from @fp30e further down these comments. Surely not a commercial plant? Other portable power stations are available...
@@simonthorpe2199 Hi Simon, I must have been tired on that day. Certainly not a plant. I have now deleted of the the posts. Well spotted. All the best.
Nice video, you have a nice calming voice, perfect for these types of canal life videos, great to incorporate the wildlife into it aswell. Take care and good luck.
Thanks Marina that was a great vlog showing ur day on Alba, l thought Myles was away with work until he showed up when u were playing the mouth organ, the serenading of the ducks was funny l wonder how Myles explained it on his zoom callđ€Łđ€Ł.
Lovely vlog Marina.
Graceful
Brilliant
Nice to find the mushrooms. I find it still scary to get them out the woods:)
(12:20) quack, guacamole, goose formation trainingđ€. Your breakfast made me hangray! So I had , here in Nor Cal, an English đŹđ§ Fry Up. No baked beans!đ. Just extra bangers!
Brilliant đ€ââđ

The black and white ducks are tufted ducks
Hey-I'm watching Downie Live on CZcams now. He's a Canadian visiting the Canals now.
ĐŃĐ”ĐœŃ ĐČпДŃĐ°ŃĐ»ŃĐ”Ń!
Great video guys, thank you. The appeal of the Jackery, seems universal as so many people on CZcams use them, depend on them and swear by them, a truly great product it would seem. Food looked fantastic Marina. Re serenading the ducks, practice makes perfect Marina! đ Re new species of duck, they are Tufted Ducks. Take care the pair of you. đ
Your eyes đđ
That dinner you made looked so nice! I really want to make it! What is it called please?
Staying on the Thames over winter.... I hope you've got a flood proof mooring
Are you permitted to stay on those EA or council moorings during flood or can they become dangerous? Do you have experience with such?
So quiet in those visitor moorings. Assuming the council or EA leave you alone in the winter? Thanks for the videos
I live on a yacht alone with my dog . Depression plagues me especially in these crazy times . I have been lucky to avoid any jabs .
Fire and flames on a wooden boat, what could possibly go wrong?
Hey Marina, you mentioned you use the Jackery to power a projector - are you still using a viewsonic M1 (if I remember rightly!) just deciding to treat myself to one for movie nights on my narrow boat. Do you still get on with it?
Lovely video again. I always love watching your vlogs. But I love to know the recipe of your cocoa âŠ.
hello nice video as always i think the ducks are tufted ducks
Just be careful staying on the Thames over winter, the current gets very strong and will probably flood where you are!
Thanks Mark, it might flood but it might not. It doesnât flood every year. đxx
The solar panels Jackery looking very light , how they survive English autumn and winter ?? Iâm living in this country from 11 years and every year wind is that strong - is damaged even solid fence.
The solar panels are out for a few hours when itâs sunny during Autumn and Winter, they donât stay out all the time. I put a barge poll through the back of them to protect them in the wind, so they stay sturdy. There isnât much sun though in winter, only worth getting them out for a couple of hours here and there.
@@CruisingAlba Thanks for answer :) its make sense now :) have a lovely evening xxx
Where is the link for jackery pls
Hi Georgina, the links are in the video description đ xx
Hello did you enjoy your holiday with Mum
Are you well?
I don't understand the Jakery thing? Don't you just have a bank of domestic batteries and an inverter for mains appliance? That's what most people do. Can't see the point of the Jakery. I've been living onboard for more than 20 years. It's certainly not essential for me or anyone else I know living on boats.
Hi Michael, we find Jackery essential as it's based on lithium battery and has an inverter. We have led-acid batteries on boat and they are nowhere near as good, we can barely use them in the evenings. As two people working from home on laptops all day this is a game changer for us!
Are the africans in dinghys flooding the canals too? Or is the african rush of people in Britain a lie?
What's that thing your using to take the condensation off the windows?! I have that problem on my boat too, single pane windows.
Its a window vac, used for washing glass. Our is from Kartcher if im spelling it correctly đ xx
