If remember correctly, IGN’s MW2 2009 review also marked down the game for the story and that had one of the most memorable single player campaigns of that generation

I'm glad they added more Clean House style missions. That was the most fun I'd had in a COD mission in a long time
I’ve played clean house probably 50 times on realism and even once recently after MWII campaign came out. Such a satisfying specop map.
Honestly for IGN standards this is surprising. From what I’ve heard this is one of the better campaigns.
It would have been one of the best campaigns if only infinity ward wasn't so obsessed with realism, crafting part was also unnecessary for a cod game.Still not as bad as a 6

It has it's moments, but overall it's kinda dumb with a "plot twist" that was done far worse than the original, the lows are really low, but the highs are really high, so being a 6 is really fair

This is the best campaign I've played from the series in long time. I've never finished a cod campaign after ghosts this fits in highly for me it felt and looked without a doubt an incredible fun game. Short yes but outstandingly done

This is one of the most compact, dope, campaigns I’ve ever played. Cinematics we’re crazy. Light, fun and short. Loved it. They found the right balance between campaign and multiplayer.
At this point IGN is a living meme when it comes to reviews .

This campaign was an 8 for me. IGN crossed the line with this review for me.
It’s so average. There’s some cool missions here and there but it’s mostly forgettable.

My only complaint is that the plot was given away from the start. If you're a gamer from 2009 you would know immediately that Shepherd is gonna betray you along with Graves' Shadow Company. But even after this the scene where he betrays you is hella badass.

Betrayal scene made no sense imo. Even if you didn’t play 2009 version. It’s so obvious Shephard is covering things up and being very shady from the minute he doesn’t want to get intel from the missiles and wants them destroyed you can tell he was the one who had something to do with them being sold.

WELL, CONGRATULATIONS IGN!
Welp. You guys lost all credibility with this one. Never has a modern shooter been such a polished visual and Audio experience with absolute INCREDIBLE voice acting, delivery and set pieces. I’ve had so much FUN and have been so IMMERSED. Think you guys forgot why people play games. Anyways. Disagree. One of the best FPS campaigns I’ve ever played and certainly some of the best visuals and audio in any game ever made. 9/10 at the very least.
Really enjoyed this campaign as someone who got tired by the same old same old Blockbuster explosion campaign from CoD. Especially the first missions are WAAAY MORE grounded and more about being a special force soldier. There is definitely some repetitive missions, but some of the missions are insanely awesome.
they should remake world at war campaign for next gen package it together with newly release cod next yr, nothing comes to world at war campaign best one out the series
You should try others games if you are tire of CoD campaigns. There are a lot of amazing single player games far better than any CoD.

8/10 for me. the armored folks and the constant steam crashes have taken me out of the immersion numerous times. the locations, graphics, and gun play are dope overall.

On ps5 it had some crashes too. Had to restart sin nombre mission because it wouldn't load after crash

This campaign is one of the best COD campaigns in years. This review has to be joking about that verdict score. Ain't no way this got a 6 and Vanguard campaign got a 7. This is easily an 8½/10 of not higher.

My only complaint so far is that in the ghillie suit sniping mission they accounted for bullet drop but not wind. It was a bit disappointing.
Reminded me of so many Action/Espionage/Thrillers I've watched before like Spooks and 24 etc.

This must be another universe, this is the first COD to catch my eye in a decade.
This is by far one of the best campaigns they have ever done. The realism compared to how special operations talks and operates is scary accurate(attitudes of the characters as well). IGN you were spot on with Gotham knights but are dead wrong here.

The campaign pays homage to everything COD. Only thing is your allies get in the way often times to your detriment.
Then the difficulty spikes are insane when it comes to stealth especially in the tank mission.

This campaign is phenomenal, don't let this review discourage you from playing it. The attention to detail is second to none and the love put into this game by the developers is very apparent. In every way, it lives up to the quality of its predecessor and even exceeds it in several aspects.

Campaign was pretty forgettable other than the awesome characters. The story itself just falls flat. Another Campaign like Cold War would be superb.
The story felt like a spinoff of the Sicario movie series. 9/10

In my opinion this is one of the better single player campaign since the previous game of the same name. Some want more of the same and some different causing a divide in opinion to such a game.

So you played this before Modern Warfare 2019 or the original modern warfare trilogy? Because you're missing a lot of stuff lore and emotion wise if you only played the latest game, for example you don't know what "no Russian" is or how big it was

Only thing from MW 2019 was Farah and she was just there for fan service, the no russian bit was fan service, the Shepard betrayal in this game is a sad shadow of the original twist, etc. If you ask me, not having played the previous games makes this one feel less generic

Yah, directing Ghost via a camera, driving and hijacking mechanics that feel a decade old, still trying to capture the AC 130 and all ghillied up magic from the original MW, armored enemies absorbing bullets, and forcing crafting mechanics into the final boss battle were all fire. Great take, bro

@@mace8704 Obviously being overly critical mate, MANY people cried out for similar missions to the old games, and when they try to do something different they get hate, despite it being a fun stealth challenge they haven’t done yet; and the crafting made the boss fight more enjoyable than a single hit or bullet sponge of an enemy. Haven't really played a COD campaign since COD2 (no, not the original MW2. COD2) so this campaign was mindblowing to me. Loved every minute of it.

Explain this to me. Every Call of duty before the reboot of Modern Warfare was just the best of the series with reused maps but every IGN review says its all fresh but when we get the best single player in the series and they decide now is the time to be over critical on it. Yeah armor enemies are still in my nightmares but past that, its a near perfect story that made me even more hyped for more.
