I bet it has a great personality
💀
i’m also sure it’s a really nice guy
It's not about the size of the gameboy, it's how you play with it that matters.
it’s not the size of the buttons it’s the motion of the … I really hoped something clever that rhymes with ocean would come to me
@@javanboyd Frank Ocean can't save you now sweetheart
You can't even play with it because the buttons are too close together.
Are we still talking about the same thing here?
You should've just typed "it's not about size of the Gameboy, it's how long can you handle it being on your mouth"
Honestly, the best use case for this is to just be a novelty keychain you can sometimes whip out to play Tetris or something. That'd be cute
And then pair it with a sweet reading glasses keychain. The perfect setup.
Yeah but at that point get the funkey so you don't have to worry about your SHARP METAL KEYS whacking up your screen
@@s01itarygaming cough* screen protector
Its probably nice for jrpgs or anything you can play without needing fast reaction time
this would be sick as a dedicated one handed pokemon machine
This thing is so small that all I could focus on was the Dreamcast games playing in the back (and Dolphin Blue, that game is SICK)
I bought one _specifically_ for GameBoy, GameBoy Color and GameGear games. Everything else is merely a bonus.
Honestly if they just released something that was bigger than this but smaller than the original Miyoo Mini, that would be perfect for my commute!
Thank you. You sealed the deal for me. I almost bought this thing but if it can't play all of gba and snes library then it's a no go for me.
I love it. Ordering one after rent. I don't carry a bag, and by that nature, no Bluetooth controller either, thought I had been looking at a keychain one for my phone. A discrete emulator the size of a keychain controller is right up my alley.
I really liked my pocketsprite a lot back in the day, but lost it, this looks just the right size balance to avoid such troubles.
The PocketSprite has it licked in terms of size, but this is about as small as you'd want one to get while still remaining fully playable. Neat as it was, I gifted my PocketSprite because the buttons were too tiny for action games and the screen was too tiny for RPGs (text & numbers were illegible).
I know they were kind of a joke at the time, but I honestly think the PSP Go had an incredible form factor. Perfect combination of performance and portability.
In fact, I honestly regret having ever gotten rid of mine (back when I was a stupid kid who traded everything to gamestop for fund my destructive gaming habit).

Miyoo Mini in a metal shell would be better than this tiny Anbernic.
I feel that. I stupidly got rid of my PS2 and collection of Square Enix games for a PS3
This makes me want to go back to my v90. That thing's still one of my all-time favorites.
Haha - most awesome cover picture ever for a video on CZcams!
Great review. You outdid yourself @WulffDen playing on such tiny novelty device. The Miyoo Mini sound the best option. I have a hard time playing any Android games on my workhorse screen of 3.1" of 720x716 resolution. I wouldn't be able to play emulator games on something smaller than 2.5". At 1.54" that's only acceptable for my audiobooks mp3 player! 9:35 🐺
FunKey S and this Anbernic are micro consoles. Things you toss into your pocket/add to your keychain and literally forget you have them on you only to be reminded of them when you have 5-10 minutes (maybe even 15-20) of unforeseen downtime during any activity and you don't have or don't want to pick up other devices. In that sense, they're a great nice little gadget. Also, visibility and playability of games heavily depends on the system emulated games were thought for. Ideally, you want to play games for consoles with less than 4 face buttons, aspect ratio close to 1:1, zoomed in visuals, and possibly not fast-paced or at least forgiving gameplay.
It's a little modern VMU really, same size down the the screen.
Id love to see some mods and accessories for it. Also I already bought one before all these reviews lol. It's a good thing I would only ever play like 2 ps1 games on it. Most SNES or GBA games I'd rather just play on my switch, something like a NES or gameboy game that doesn't have saves works better on here.
Though if they are going to make a small metal device, I wish it was a Game and Watch shape, go for thin not small.
The list of games I most want to play on it are: Game and watch gallery series, smb 2, Space invaders on GBC, Balloon fight, and the Namco Classics.
There's lots of cool GB and GBC rgps (besides pokemon) that play great on this too if you're into the genre.
this is making me curious again about any emu devices that have the Game&Watch form factor. I still take my 35th Aniv Mario G&W with me to work because it's so got-dang pocketable, and I'm really starting to crave something more substantial, but doesn't take up the whole pocket or make a bulge. here's to hoping Bob puts out a tiny device showcase 🙏
I would absolutely love a more rugged version of this thing that you could put on a keychain
I love my rg35xx but strangely I only play games on rg280v lately. This is a device that is quite close to miyo mini size and is a perfect combination of power, build, ease of use (with AdamImage) and portability in my book.
I'm really glad that you did a review on this little anbernic hand held small system I was gonna buy one but after you did a review on it I realize now it's not worth the money and that I'm not going to get one now thankyou again for warning me
I just got mine and it is pure perfection!
thank you for sharing your time and your experience
Awesome! love that its metal that's a nice touch.
This thing reminded me of the old Game & Watch minis. That would be a cool use for this.
It's for sure not the best go-to solution in portable gaming but I still love this little device to death, perfect for in between Gameboy stuff.
I just picked up a miyoo mini plus and loved it so much I just had to get a miyoo mini. I got both off of Ali Express last month ($100 for the mm+ and $150 CAD for the mm)
Nice video!
Reminds me of the Thumby. You should review the Thumby!
The "Everything I said still stands..." being inception-ed was so clever XD
i feel like if I bought this, it would be on my keychain and solely play DMG, GBC, and Atari games, and more specifically just simple pickup and play style games nothing I would concern myself with when it comes to long story driven games requiring many hours to complete, but I DO WANT this in my collection lol
Came for the Gameboy Nano, stayed for the good ole pupper.
It’s how I always wanted the VMU to be
I cannot wait to play the underrated PlayStation Masterpiece "Battle Hunter" on this.
On the fun Key s you are able to access r2 and l2 by holding select I believe is that the same on here?
RG Nano to Game Boy Micro: "The future is now, old man."
If budget is not an issue. I would love to have this as a novelty unit / collection. Could be fun bringing it to your friends' or on a party~
THE RHYTHM HEAVEN IN THE BACKGROUND
The thumbnail makes me wish we had some kind of gameboy shaped gummies
How dare you steal that poor dogs gameboy...
I got carpal tunnel just watching this.
Gameboy screen magnifier mod? I think we need this
Yooo, goodnote guys 🤙🏼
I tried adding additional mame roms but they all play in landscape and I can't find anyway to correct it.
I'm still waiting on a newer gba layout device with no analog stick that looks as nice as the Miyoo Mini. Hopefully soon!
I bought one with a somewhat different use case in mind: playing Pico 8 games at any time where I have 3-15 minutes to kill. A long time ago, I used to have a Tetris keychain I did this with, and I figured this might be a bougie version of that.
Yes, the price tag was steep for what this was. I guess in my mind, if the total time I ever spend using this exceeded the time I would spend playing $80 worth of games on Steam, I'm breaking even. I just really like this form factor.
Considerations from my perspective:
1. The 1:1 aspect ratio is perfect for Pico 8. I'm honestly surprised more people haven't thought of this. What else actually runs natively on a square resolution?
2. The kinds of games that are on Pico 8 play just fine on this tiny form factor.
3. The firmware update made a HUGE difference for me. The 1.0.0 firmware only ships with the libretro emulator which is terrible. The 1.0.1 version added the fake-08 picoarch core, so now it runs about 80% of the games I threw at it just fine. Still not perfect, but good enough to bring me a sense of relief.
4. I hope I see a time when I can run the real Pico 8 executable on this thing. It's fun on the RG 351V, which I keep on my nightstand, and the CPU on the Nano should be capable of running it. It's just a matter of whether an OS will be developed that will support adding it in.
Me starting the video: Oh, I wanna put that on my key chain.
Bahb: It comes with a keychain, for some reason.
Me: 😮
How well does it fit in a Dreamcast controller?
Bobs hair looking fire here 👌🏻
It's not far off the Mac tini parody becomes real.
looks like they need to recreate the Gameboy magnifier too lol
In defense of super nintendo aspect ratios, the internal aspect ratio was 8:7, and back in the day that image was stretched across 4:3 screens. A 1:1 ratio is actually closer to 8:7 than 4:3 is, so it's arguably scaled more accurately than what you'd see by default on the miyoo mini for example.
We've unlocked Future Future Bob.
This uses the same OS. Funkey OS just anbernics twist. Drum78 is working to bring their changes over to the device which has actual updated emulators. I would wait till that get fixed before getting the device, unless you REALLY want something TINY.
Gee I think penguinz0 been in quarantine for way to long
you gonna make a video on that arcade cabinet?
Mr Wulff, what camera do you use for your videos? It looks so clean and cinematic, for fun lil emulation videos
Kind of reminds me of the game boy micro what is your opinion about that also how big is this device compared to the micro
anbernic after hearing this review: "it's morbin' time"
I noticed the arcade cabinet at around 0:45 , is that a custom cabinet? If so where could I find one myself?
As long as it plays Pokémon well id buy it.
Isn't the rg280v Anbernic's version of the Miyoo Mini?
My Anbernic RetroMini finally arrived just this morning, and it's about as small as I'm willing to comfortably go. I love it, its only flaw being how small and recessed the L and R buttons are on the thing (Makes me think they should have just had flat back buttons for L & R). The Nano is a cute novelty, but to be honest if I wanted a nano device, it would have to be the FunkeyS.
I just drop in the Funkey OS and all the emulation problems seem to be fixed for me, I love mine and im glad I got one, I have way more fun on it than even I expected and it fits somewhere on me anytime I gotta go out. Also I put a popsocket and a lanyard on mine
Imagine if you'd gone in there prepared to like it!
The dpad looks exactly the same as the 8bitdo Zero 2
i thought i was passing a kidney stone the otherday, fond out it was an ambernic mini retro nano
Might work better with a horizontal format. Shouldn’t be much bigger, but have somewhat better ergonomics and more room for battery and maybe L2/R2
Me and his mom got excited thinking he had finally eaten something.
Bob Wulff eats Game Boys the long way.
Love every review you make even if it is for something ridiculous like this
Man he needs to look into a minty pi
They need to make one that’s between the size of the Miyoo mini + and the RG nano then we’ll be talking
Bust out laughing at 1:23. It's so little.
Thanks. You saved me $100
What was that little clamshell he closed?
Wow, that's a surprising size
It's too expensive for a novelty device, everyone who buys this will come to regret it.
Still not sure but was Thinking of getting this only for old pokemon games doing the nuzlocke challenge well im waiting for somthing sounds cool especially with it being so small I could always have it with me and also the benefits of not draining my phone battery.
i think about putting the nano on my keychain
if you still wanted to play something with almost the same size as the RG Nano, you should check the Powkiddy Q36 Mini.
Yea but... look how CUTE it is!!!
Did the thumbnail/title change?
it reminds me of the small lcd keychain games like pacman that i used to get as a kid in the 90's. as a kid i'd want this, but now? nah i don't think so. maybe if it was like 10 dollars or something. i like that it's made out of metal though.
what affordable pocket portable emulator would you recommend?
the perfect emulator for Stuart Little
I might pick this up for fun if they release a cheaper plastic version (which I'm sure they will). If they were going to have that screen that can't do 360 x 240... then they should have dropped the buttons to 2 (and shoulder buttons) and focus the marketing on emulating handhelds (GB, GCB, GBA, GG, NGPC, etc), it would be easier with 2 face buttons instead of 4
I've been saying this on other videos about this device. I think two buttons would be better for the games I want to play on a device this small.
I too want to play my ps1 and snes games with a magnifying glass strapped to my eye.
If mame was on it I'd buy one just to have it
Just a correction: Blackseraph makes garlicOS as an onionOS clone for the 35xx, but he does not make onionOS for the miyoo mini or miyoo mini plus.
Also powkiddy makes a funkey clone as well called the q36 which is a little less portable but is much more ergonomic being a horizontal (can't play it one handed though) - the powkiddy one is actually 1:1 with the funkey for compatibility with CFW
How are the shoulder buttons on the q36?
I have a FunkeyS and I love that thing! Except that the shoulder buttons are too stiff and requires A LOT o force to press to the point of becoming kinda of useless
@@andremalerba5281 the shoulder buttons seem fine to me - a tiny bit clickier than ideal maybe
Maybe if your hands are as tiny as baby one, then you should consider buying this lol
It might actually be useful if it was landscape format.
I wonder if you could use it as a mp3, even without the headphone jack
Doggo: how did that get there?
I'm surprised Nintendo isn't doing an official one of these
Really think Bob needs glasses, me and all the other cool young people I know love the small screen
Hey! I still ise my pocket go! Its really pretty good yet. Im mean my 35xx and 351p are better but its like the size of a gameboy micro.
I feel like this is more done for the hell of the gimmick then for the usabilty 😂
Hey Zim was still using that!
Bless up fam.
Manh it would be so cool if smallest man on planet uses that smallest portable emulator
I want one! I'm NOT a stickler for emu quality, and I AM a sucker for tiny gadgets.
