    You picked the best divers watch. This is the best constructed watch with the most accurate movement. It is a big watch but the titanium makes it feel like you are not wearing a watch.

      Bro., considering you are in a highly advanced stage at your watch collecting journey I think you are waaay past the ORIENT MAKO/SKX category.
      I suggest you keep pushing the envelope with high-end SEIKO the SLA Models. I think that's your nich'e and you are good at it.
      Bring us some Golden TUNA 600M and the 1000M.
      Everybody is doing the MAKO and SKX/TURTLE - Keep doing what you doing and who knows, SEIKO might reach out to you and endorse you.
      I also like the Popping veins on your Arms - you look Bad Ass with a 44mm Seiko Diver and freaky veins. Am American and 90% of our population is Obese.

    I have the green dial version of the watch you have and believe it is not top heavy in general. It really wraps around my wrist and is super comfortable. But I have never compared it to a Grand Seiko diver. I like the GS diver you showed but it’s “only” 200meters water resistance vs 300 meters for the Seiko LX. That makes me think the Seiko is more rugged. I want to like the GS more but at least based on pictures and specs, I do not. Maybe if I try it on in person.

    • @KirbyYoung
      @KirbyYoung Před 4 měsíci +1

      Sounds like you have the limited edition. Nice watch! I saw and tried the GS in person with the LX. The GS diver is underwhelming, maybe because I was spoiled by the LX. And yeah the rugged look of the LX is overall better than the sporty(submariner-ish) design of the GS.

    Maybe some me day i will get a sd diver. I have a sla 049 Naomi umuera. Super nice willard. A sla 043. Tough vintage style watch. Handsome! A sla 055 blue dial. The case is amazing, blue dial also . And last. My only high beat watch. Sla039, chunky boy! I have it on a bright orange rubber strap. Perfect for me. This one has magic for me.

    I went to the Seiko dealer here in Taipei over the weekend and they had a brand new SNR029 for sale. The store manager said this is the last new old stock from Seiko and he was willing to sell it to me for 160,000 NTD which is roughly $5000 USD even. I put the watch on but could not see all the intricate details as the wrapper on still on there. The store manager also showed off his personal collection of Grand Seikos to me. He had several divers and a GMT one. All in all, I passed on his offer (for now) as I will be making a trip to Tokyo soon. And given the weak yen I might be able to find this watch for cheaper than what the Seiko Taiwan dealer was offering. I'm also looking at the marine master 600M. As long as the diver is titanium and spring drive, I'm all game.

  • @lockhandle8276
    @lockhandle8276 Před rokem +7

    Don't sell all your Japanese watches to get the Tudor Black Bay 54!!! That is what the Swiss Mafia wants you to do! On a serious note, I personally think that the 62MAS and its iterations are a much more beautiful design compared to the Tudor Black Bay. The reason is that the 62MAS has the aggressive looks which are characteristic of Japanese design philosophy. For instance, we often see that Toyota and Lexus make cars with very beautiful geometries, which are aggressive and universally elegant. On the other hand, European designs are sleek and posh. They attract you with their posh-ness coupled with all the hype surrounding the brand. The novelty of such Swiss "mid-tier holy grails" wears off quite quickly, as the person starts looking up towards things that are better than the Tudor Black Bay, for example. For that reason, people who keep enjoying the exquisite quality of Japanese offerings, are always content with their collection. In my opinion, I think that a person who has a Seiko Marine Master SLA021, or the Seiko LX, should not go for a less exciting (but posh) Tudor. Something more exciting for you could be a Tissot PRX Powermatic 80 with the Ice Blue dial, or maybe a Rado Captain Cook black dial with the 3-link bracelet: czcams.com/video/uNVD-KnkHbw/video.html
    Tudor has become boring in my opinion :/

      @KirbyYoung Před rokem +1

      Excellent point. Yes my friend. I have said in the video that i wont let go of my sla021 and lx no matter what watch that may be. They are just the best Seiko watches money can buy. The problem with popular Omega (or Rolex) watches is that you're likely paying more than msrp for a 2nd hand grey market watch. But Seikos including Grand Seikos are like majority of brand new cars. As soon as you drive it off the lot, the value and prices tank. Buy a Seiko on the secondary market for a great deal and you can resell it for around the same as you bought it for at least.

    • @WristWatcher

      Factor in $1000 for an full service on an Omega movement, compared to less than $400 for a SLA Seiko or $600 for spring drive. 🤔 😊

      1) omega doesn't have a spring drive movement
      2) omega has unnecessary (to some, unsightly) HEV
      3) omega is not made out of titanium
      4) omega let's anyone you meet know you spent thousands of dollars on a watch
      these are all subjective points, but you said you had a hard time understanding maybe this helps

  • @antigravitytea
    @antigravitytea Před 7 měsíci +1

    I have nothing profound to add to a subjective conversation. Swiss vs Japan blah blah. I have the LX SNR029. I could list the reasons why, and at this price, it is not about an inability to afford a more expensive watch. More $ ≠ better watch. Full stop. All of your alternates are wonderful. However, the crown at 3 o'clock is a no go for me. The LX is the only one on your list with the crown at 4. I work with my hands. The crown being at the 4 position is one of the top reasons I got the LX over Grand Seiko and all the others.

    • @KirbyYoung
      @KirbyYoung Před 7 měsíci

      Your comment got me interested. I have yet to see a topic about crown positions in a watch and their significance. Forgive my ignorance about the crown part. May I ask you to expound on the crown being at 4 as opposed to the 3? I mean in terms of advantage and what kind of work for example that it would be advantageous.

    • @antigravitytea
      @antigravitytea Před 7 měsíci

      No problem. I am a painter and do quite a bit of carpentry. The crown at the 3 o'clock position has a tendency to dig into the back of my hand when it is flexed back. The crown at the 4 o'clock position is just out of the way enough to not be an issue, even the crown on the sn4029. Secondly, the 4 o'clock position protects the crown somewhat when your wrist is flexed downward, especially for a watch with no crown guard. I have heard about the position being better for pulling on wet suits, but I have no experience with that. @@KirbyYoung
