"Make the acquaintance of two of New Orleans’ most beloved hosts and concert pianists, Michael and Quinn, who sure do know their shindigs.
From seasonal celebrations to iconic book clubs to lavish parties for friends, family, and charities (both local and national), Michael and Quinn have seen, done, and decorated it all.
Enjoy the pair's authentic sense of style and design in their lush home and garden while exploring the joys of throwing unique and personal events. The pages are filled with hundreds of delightful photographs captured by twelve renowned Southern photographers that showcase the abundance of Michael and Quinn’s New Orleans Garden District home. Come away with hosting, interior design, and entertaining tips and tricks that even an amateur can execute.
Classical Shindig: Amateur Artistry from the Simple to the Sublime is complete with thirty recipes for every occasion, QR codes for recorded movements of their concertos given in support of community causes, illustrations by acclaimed artists Paul Cox and Tug Rice, and delightful stories all the way from Mississippi County, Arkansas, to the oak-lined streets of New Orleans. Between adventures in piano concerti with orchestras and entertaining New Orleans’ natives, the British monarchy, and everyone in between-there’s nothing these two won’t do to celebrate their love of food, music, and people."

Lovely program, I enjoyed watching and remember Harrods so differently from many years ago .. perhaps it’s time to return.. thank you for sharing..
Harrods was a shoppers paradise. London, in general, could fit that description. Thanks for watching.
Hello Mary, I too loved this book!! I had the pleasure of touring this charming couple's home on (I believe) the "Homeworthy" channel! They are a delight and so interesting! Thank you for taking us along to England. I would bring back every bit of fine china that would fit in my suitcase!!! Have a wonderful week! Hugs! :)
Love the story of Harrods it’s awesome to see how these started and still going on. Loved the rest of the video as well. Thank you for sharing.
I bought this book when it was first published and have loved it ever since. In fact, when I first bought it, I only allowed myself to read one chapter a night, so the pleasure of delightful discovery could last as long as possible. i have gone back to it time and again even though I have owned it only a short time. Michael and Quinn have created a true treasure!
That is funny you do that. I have done the same thing, with both coffee table books and novels. Yes, this book is a treasure.
Mary your channel is refreshing. Your idea of reviewing books is absolutely brilliant. I enjoy it so much. I have learned so much about the various decorators, designers and their styles through these beautiful books you bring to us each week. Thank you for the little tour of Harrods and its History. You have a glorious home and as summer will soon open its doors to welcome us, I look forward to all that you have in store for us. 🌺 Have a lovely week.
Thank you so much. I appreciate your kind encouragement, you have a lovely week as well.
Conyac for frazzled nerves and a ride to the top of the moving staircase. What a hoot! Hahaha
Thank you again Mary for a great book review but also for sharing your London trip! I felt like I was shopping with you! 😄 Wow, I hope to visit London!
See you on the next video! Have a great week!
HI Mary ~~ I had to giggle them saying they are just amateurs.. more like over achieving ! I have been to Harrods it is amazing, and I kid you not I know it was Victoria Beckman that walked past me! I truly enjoyed the history you shared about Harrods too. Your pool area looks wonderful, and the topiaries love !! To early here yet for outdoor plants, however I will be looking for those ! have a joyful weekend ,, hugs Paula .. love your bracelets :)
I thought it humorous as well. White collar professionals who dabble in design, cooking, and playing musical instruments.
Welcome back from London, Mary & thanks for letting us tag along!
Thank you! 💗
Wonderful book review! I watched the Homeworthy video tour of their home which was incredible. Thank you for looking at the porcelain in Harrods (and the prices Yikes!) I’ve been to both Harrods and Fortnum and Mason and personally prefer the later. Over the years, F&M has, according to my British friends taken over. You’ll have to take another trip and make a similar video so your thousands of followers can opine. There’s something about “Just Looking” that is so fun, thank you for allowing us on your trip.
One of your best videos so far! Looks like you had a glorious adventure.
Such an interesting video again and beautifully presented by you Mary .
I appreciate that, thanks for watching.
Greetings to you Mary and thank you for the book review...it is a lot of pages for the money. Goodness Harrods is magnificent and would take me days to finish (not to mention, lost!). I appreciate you sharing your trip to London with all of us. You were missed ~ always look forward to your channel each week. Love their dress code/Harrods. Till next Friday.
This book was large and full of great photographs. The text was informative and cleverly written. I also appreciated Harrod's dress code. Shopping there was very pleasant.
What a find that book is! Will definitely be purchasing this one! Just wish the purchase garnered an invite to one of their shindigs.
Now I have to go back and see what you found at Harrods. See you next week!
I was shocked that they did not sell Herend China, but I did manage to find an Hermes throw blanket that I have been wanting for a while. That store is a consumers paradise. London really does have it all.
Great book review again Mary. I’ve seen these guys on Homeworthy and have now ordered the book now (while watching your review). I’m going to need more bookcases in my home if I keep this up.
So enjoyed this, it has been many years since I was in Harrod's. Look forward to the book next week !🌸🌺🌼
I'm glad you enjoyed it. Thanks for watching!
Lovely presentation
Thank you!
I loved both parts of this video. Amazing
Thank you, I appreciate that!
This looks like a wonderful book. Thanks
I really love your book reviews. Thanks for sharing!
Thanks for watching!
Thank you Mary! This is one of my favorite Homeworthy home tours ever. And this book is up at the top of my book wish list. 😊💕
This was so interesting. Their book looks delicious. I had never heard these details about Harrods. We live in a fascinating world. As long as there is creativity and art, we will forever be elevated. Who now owns Harrods? And, I have wondered who currently owns Selfridges?
Thank you for introducing a very nice book.🌹
My pleasure, thanks for watching!
Love looking at Harrods what a beautiful department store amazing thank you Mary for taking me places that I would never get to go.
Welcome home, Mary and thank you for highlighting Classical Shindig! I became enamored with Michael and Quinn as I watched a tour of their home some time ago…Quinn loves to needlepoint and has his finished work displayed throughout their breathtaking home. I was not aware of their book and will be ordering it today!♥Especially pleased their recipes are included!🌟
I saw the home tour also. These gentlemen are priceless. The book is so much fun to read and look at. I think I will be making one their recipes soon. I'll share it on the channel when I do. Thanks for watching!
Don’t you just love these two? I stumbled on this book several months ago and have enjoyed it so much. Thank you for sharing it with your wide audience. And Harrods! I loved seeing it, and hearing all your historical tidbits - they make it even more interesting. The child in me never outgrew Pooh or Peter Rabbit! (So I studied your jewelry. Is the pink bracelet from London?!)
Very good- Yes, the design on my bracelet is a copy of the ironwork on the door of St. George’s Chapel at Windsor. This scrolled design was introduced by Henry III in 1247. I think it was my favorite purchase while in London.
I kept racking my brain on how I heard of these gentleman,I had seen them on Home worthy, excited to know about the book! You did a review on Spencer Churchill’s book last year also because I bought it ♥️ I can’t imagine living in a city that had a Harrods even though I can’t afford a lot (most) of the things,I so appreciate just seeing them , Did the Azaleas bloom early this spring,a friend was down there and said they were past peak, everything here is early this year but lasting longer because we have had some cooler weather for the last 10 days but next week the heat returns. Thanks Mary 🌿🍃
The azaleas did seem to peak a little early this year. We did have a few still in bloom for the festival. I think the heat came back today. I wore shorts for the first time and the ceiling fans are all running. Thanks for watching!
Thanx for sharing. 😍Hope you had a wonderfull time in London. ❤ love your channel a lot🥰looking forward to next week.
I'm so glad! Thank you so much for your kind comments. I always appreciate your encouragement!
Love walking g through Harrods with you. I was there in 1989. Like you new intro to what book is next.
Thank you very much!
Thank you for the trip to Harrods and the history. Hope I get to visit one day!
You are very welcome, thanks for watching!
Thank you for showing us such beautiful porcelain works of art ❤
Can’t wait till you visit Francia 🇫🇷
Love the book.
See you next week ❤
Dulce- you're not going to believe this, but our original itinerary had 2 days in Paris. We changed it so we could spend all week in London (there was so much to see). Next year, God willing, we'll do Paris.

I used to fly, but I had an experience about 40 years ago and ever since then I’ve not been able to hop on a plane:(
I see all of Europe has one big museum of art.
Am I the only one that was driven crazy by the honeycomb candle that was leaning? I have issues 😅
That is too funny! I noticed it immediately. I read once that Mario Buatta, Robert Kime and others, did things like that on purpose to add a bit of visual friction.
😊
Love these guys.
Would love for you to take a look at my book Bohemian Soul. Thanks, Valorie Hart
I would love to look at it!
