Rocket jumping is a great idea, it was a cool mechanic in 2000's FPS and people did crazy speedruns in Half-Life and Return to Castle Wolfenstein with it, it's also cool you're open to people suggestions. Another mechanic you might want to test: pushing walls to discover secret areas like in Wolfenstein 3D, it's really funny, especially when it's done correctly, meaning with some brightness difference of textures or simply another texture like a painting. Because I've just played to Wolfenstein 3D, and anytime I discovered a secret area while the wall looked like the others, I feel frustrated: you definitely don't want to check all walls 🤨
@@christhegamedev Nice ! I was thinking about climbing earlier but forget to mention it 😆 Push = 90's destroy = 00's ( even if Catacomb 3D... ) climb = 10's 😁 Both decade brought something to the table 😎
I think the rocket jumping formula should be the direction of the explosion to you multiplied by the inverse distance between you and the explosion multiplied by a fixed strength value. That way, the explosion is the thing giving you impulse, not the recoil, and the player can get creative with explosion distance and direction!
I was thinking about something, I don't think it's especially easy to do, but, what if one weapon was so powerful it had recoil, and its recoil made you crack the wall behind you ? Meaning speed*weight having an impact like in real life ?

This is the launcher effect I was most looking for right now!
Yes it will be fun!!!

There will be hidden things in the game but instead of pushing walls you will need to climb things or destroy walls

I've already done something like that I have an updated video in the works showing it!

I have some wacky ideas for some new weapons :) stay tuned
