When I was a teen these guys were my favourite band. I remember taking the bus about an hour away on a friday to go see a girlfriend at the time. Coming down a long winding hill, the sun setting and I have Arctic Monkeys playing on one of the first ipods to come out. Utter bliss.

millezenith I respectfully disagree. The Strokes paved the way for 2000's Indie and Garage Rock. Without them, we probably wouldn't have the Arctic Monkeys. Alex Turner even said how important The Strokes were to their music.

I just found these guys like a week ago. But I just was like lightning struck. Alex Turner blew my mind away. The way he brought poetry and messages about the shit society we live in to popular music. It's just amazing! Jam and the Smiths had beautiful offspring. Let's hope they don't break up like those bands.

This does it for me. Can't stop wanting to listen to it. I''m 49. I've had to mature with the years but it just reminds me of a very much younger me. Looking back at the burst of good music that (at last) emerged in the past 10 years (and sadly is now fading) this band could be seen as the Joy Division of this era.

If you listened to the demo version you can easily understand what I'm saying. I have a theory about the song. I think Alex's had a group of friends. They were underage but drinking. Cops were trying to catch them because of little crimes they commited. But they didn't give a fuck and were having fun. At the end of the song, cops caught one of them. I think he was Alex. In demo version the story continues. His other friends managed to run away with a van. But they lost control and died. It makes sense..
