Second season has so much love put into it. The reason that the episodes are long is that the creator studio (WhiteFox) decided to not give ad breaks after the episodes so that they could give more content even though it meant less money.

@@lite4998honestly for a light novel adaptation of an extremely long arc, the way they managed to keep it coherent despite cutting alot of content, sacrificing profit in favour of creating a good product, especially with kenichiro suehiro continuing to make some of the greatest ost in anime history, a bit of animation inconsistencies are a price I will happily pay. This is definetly the best timeline for re:zero anime adaptation when you think about it.

Luke, the reason why re:zero episodes are longer than usual anime is because the studio paid the TV to air extra anime content, instead of commercials in the middle of the episode, not only does this mean longer episode, but the immersion is also not lost because of commercials. And as you can see, they also dont do recaps. And many times they dont include the opening//ending into the episode, just to air more episode content. Sometimes they just add the song on top of whats happening. This is the true manifestation of fan service in my eyes

The part where Lye Batenkaitos eats Rems Name and Memories (18:50) you can see quick flashes of a future. This is actually a What If the Tappei Nagatsuki wrote called Sloth IF, which is an alternate ending to ep 18 where Rem and Subaru run away to Kagaragi and have a family abandoning everyone.
There's actually a bunch of IF stories. Each IF story is written on April 1st (Subaru's birthday) and each of them shows a diffrent path Subaru could've taken at certain points in the story.
If you are interested here are the best times to read them. (Currently the anime is on arc 4 aka Season 2 and Season 3 will be arc 5 and 6)
Sloth IF: Read whenever after S1 BUT has a minor arc 5 spoiler, and also has a character you will not see in the anime for a WHILE (we talking probably season 5 of Re:Zero)
Greed IF: Best to read after season 3 (contains some arc 5 and 6 spoilers)
Wrath IF: Read whenever after S1 BUT again contains 2 characters you will not see until season 4 and 5 (but you can read about one of them in Re Zero EX 4)
Pride IF: Best to read after season 3 (after arc 5)
Gluttony IF: Read after season 3 (after arc 6)
Lust IF: Read whenever after S1
Aganau IF: Watch whenever after S1 (it's from a mobile game)
Or instead of reading them there are some summary videos on youtube. It's not the same as reading them since its just a summary but hey if you don't like to read then that's an option

If stories aren't exactly alternative endings. They are simply explanations of what could have cannonicaly happened if subaru had made a different choice. The events of the if stories never really happened tho.

The If stories themselves don't make much sense, so i would recommend you to not take it too seriously.
The IFs stories aren't alternative endings, is it exactly a "What If", what could have happened if Subaru was pushed to make a different choice, but the stories don't actually happen even tho it is made by the author.
I would also may theorize that the IF stories is the point of the story where subaru gets the affinity with said sins. Im not getting into the details for no spoils but just remember the fact subaru wasn't able to see the hands of sloth before becoming "slothful"
After everything Subaru has went through to save everyone it still came to this, him breaking down and Emilia comforting him with the ost in the background just hits like a freight train but that’s what makes Re:Zero Re:Zero everything comes with a price there’s no complete victories

1:00 It’s because arc 4 is longer than arc 1-3 combined which season 1 adapted. White Fox even has bought up the commercial slot to give us 29 minute episodes for the whole 2nd cour and the opening barely plays while the ending plays in the actual episode. It’s really a passion project. Even tho still stuff had to be cut but that’s what you got the comment section for!
3:55 It wasn’t known if Re:Zero would get a second season, so to avoid a shit storm they ended the anime on a good note so the opening scene of this episode actually was the ending in the light novel which the anime adapts. That’s why it also took so long in between seasons. Unfortunately there’s also been production issues with Season 2, mostly bc a big chunk of staff went and created studio Bind for Mushoku Tensei as well as studio Nexus that animated 10 episodes of season 1 not being on board this season also covid hit in the final stages of production. Season 3 is probably gonna be after 4 years again when it airs because White Fox had to sort out their staff situation, they been on a constant hiring spree and moved to a bigger new studio there’s currently no release date but that’s a good thing. A credible leaker said the time frame they have set internally is very reasonable and we’ll get up to 43 episodes since season 3 adapts arc 5 & 6 arc 6 being hailed as peak Re:Zero and i must agree

I don't believe Crusch ever died to begin with. She was just badly wounded. Rem was healing her immediately after losing her arm and managed to stop the blood loss before fighting the cultists. Felix, being the best healer in the kingdom, was able to reattach the arm when he found her, but obviously was quite torn up at first having found her in that state.

Skipped content : MAJOR - Wilhelm in this episode also showed that subaru means much more to him than it seems in anime, something akin to family, he thinks of subaru as much as of Crush, which means hell die for subaru
Minor - the reason they showed the knife in rems room is because in WN, Subaru killed himself with that knife several times just to see if hell actually go further in his savepoint, thats why he was looking at it several times in anime
He kept eying the knive because in the novel, he killed himself with that knive over and over and over again just to return each time again in front of that bed.
They didn't put it in but acknowledged it for the readers by having those frames with the knives and with his statement "No matter how many times i die, i will never make it in time".

An important detail that you may have subconsciously realized, but it bears saying out loud: Subaru has so far demonstrated a level of immunity to TWO of the sin archbishops’ Authorities. First, Subaru was the only one unaffected by the “unseen” part of the Unseen Hands, and now Subaru is the only one who remembers Rem despite her name having been eaten by the Authority of Gluttony (which according to Puck should have caused all memory of her to vanish).
He’s not outright immune to the effects of the authorities, nor is he able to negate them in any fashion (e.g. Petelgeuse was still able to throw him around with the hands). But he does appear to have some form of resistance to some of their effects.

Betelguese said that were 6 Sin Archbishops, and of those 6, only Pride's "seat is vacated", implying that there were 6 in the past but Pride either disappeared or died.
So far, the Sin Archbishops that were mentioned up to now are Sloth, Pride, Greed, and Gluttony. Only 2 more left.
And there are 3 sins left, Lust, Wrath, and Envy. Of those 3, only 2 are Archbishops.

Can’t wait for this. Season 2 will drag you down to the lowest of lows but also raise you up to the highest of highs. The story can get pretty convoluted in this season compared to the last one so don’t be afraid to ask questions to better help understand what’s going on if you need to.
Can you explain why Puck said he is connected to Rem? And why did he not forget that this connection exist, after Rem's name got erased? And why does nobody questioning Subaru, why he still remember Rem?
I kinda dislike Season 2 because of stuff like this.
@@XpurkapiXPuck doesn’t remember Rem, he simply has a basic understanding of Gluttony. He just knows she’s supposed to be important to him. As for why nobody questions Subaru. It’s not really explained but it boils down to everyone trusting him. As well as knowing he’s different from everyone else, hope this helps.

no one questions him, or rather, he always says weird things "the whale will appear here because my metia says so". the whole point is.. the people close to him are so accustomed to him being weird that him "remembering someone that should not be remembered" isn't the weirdest thing about him. Plus, there are hits that he has "resistance" against this "sins powers" (him being able to see the unseeing hand, and spoiler spoiler blabla in the future).

a curious thing about the archbishops of the witch cult. is that each of her names corresponds to a constellation of our stars. Like Subaru's neck name is also that of the constellation of the Pleiades as he himself says in the Snow Memory OVA. and the reason why he became a fan of them!
Her loss of memory changed the way she spoke. But nothing about her integrity has changed.
Crusch is a truly fascinating character.
When you see white screen just when she was defeated if you slow video down you can see images of a "different story".
This is one of alternative stories for Re:Zero called IFs - what would happen if Subaru have chosen different path.
There are 6 of those in total (every represends different sin).
These are images of what would happen if Subaru had run with Rem called Sloth IF or Rem IF.

Everyone should watch the full(with lyrics) realize opening song after this episode because it shows Subaru's mindset due to losing Rem. People think it's about Emilia, but it's clearly about how Subaru is so determined not to lose anyone else because of this, and how much more aware of and afraid of the limits of return by death he is as well! For example, some people treat future episodes as if they will know exactly when a checkpoint changes and SURELY that person isn't gone for good!
But I'm not spoiling anything here, my point is just that whatever happened, after this Subaru was at this point MUCH more afraid of a checkpoint changing as it did with his suicide over Rem's body, so factor that into his mindset and reactions. He didn't give as much thought to whether checkpoints changed because he didn't die and it's even something which watchers get upset about in episodes 14 to 18, since while he inevitably did die in the bad ends he wasn't actively looking for it or was just plain insane(see episode 15 when he wanders through the village with Rem's body, he wasn't thinking straight at all and kept himself together with hatred for Petelgeuse).
Subaru from this point on is much more actively thinking about who he might lose by just happening to stay alive at the wrong moment. So the knife is a good signal for that, although he has reasons for it he's much more suicidal than before.
I am here just to say that Rem is the best girl. Ever.
PS: It is not shown in the anime but in novels, Subaru killed himself a lot of times trying to change the save point. It never happened. The knife is a reference to that.

The anime portrayed how the infamous encounter between Regulus and Lye had with Rem and Crusch quite differently than the novel did. The most startling difference was greed's attacks. In the novel, he didn't attack the carriage, but it simply ran into him, and the collision destroyed the carriage while Regulus was unharmed. In the anime it looks like Regulus did nothing to cut Crusch's arm off but in the novel he swung his hand up in the air, which severed her arm clean off. These are small but still notable details that were altered or left out

If you wanted to know about the knife it is from the Light Novel. Subaru killed himself in the bedroom with the knife instead of the yard with the sword like the anime adapted.

Fun fact: For a good chunck of episodes in Season 2. They went so above and beyond for the show that the runtime of the episodes not only ran through both the opening and the ending credits, But they paid to have the episodes run through Commercial time. I can't really think of any other show that was willing to do that...
If you look carefully at 18:51 when Gluttony "eat" Rem. You can see Rem and Subaru in the future being a family. Although, only a few frames 😅

The last scene from season 1 wasn't there in the original because at that time when the season ended the idea of dropping a second season wasn't a thing. I think season one ended around 2014 and season 2 came out around 2019 (or even later) if I'm not mistaken.
This episode hits harder when you realize the reason Ram attacked Subaru at the village for the blank letter was because Rem wrote it and she was erased and so was the letter. This was an imminent warning to Subaru that Rem was already gone and to reset but he missed the queue because he was so focused on Emilia
The funny thing about this series is that you can know the exact moment when Rem disappears from the first season. since although Subaru is the one who sends the warning letter to Roswal's mansion. he he he does not yet master the language of that world so it is Rem who writes it. So the letter does not disappear because it is a message from Subaru, but the words do since it was Rem who wrote them, just like what happened with all the objects in Rem's room. the first time she was erased by the white whale...
One problem with re zero is that nobody questions why Subaru remembers, or why he can see Petelgeuse's hands and say that Petelgeuse can possess him
I thought they didn't question why Subaru remembers was because they already knew about the "sleeping beauty's curse". I don't know about the Petelgeuse situation but maybe it was explained in the light novel instead?
@@haiphengar627the whole plot of season 2 doesn't exactly show Subaru's circumstances making him perfectly trusted by everyone, even at this point he had to get Rem not to kill him ages ago, Beatrice drained his mana when he arrived to check he wasn't dangerous, Puck can read the intentions /mood of a person so would know if Subaru meant anyone harm, Crusch's camp were very hard for him to avoid the suspicions of, Russel Fellow was happy to receive the phone in exchange for resources and as the head of a highly feared intelligence organisation will likely have been keeping an eye on him throughout the story but it's such a slow burn that we haven't reached it yet, Anastasia is spoilers, Priscilla just doesn't care enough to remember his name, Al is another suspicious guy, Ferris would have no reason to do anything since by healing his gate for a while Subaru would easily be killed by him if he did anything bad, and generally everyone in this world has secrets so they're perfectly fine with not outright asking why someone would say they can be trusted despite connections with the witch cult and just acting to test them or figure them out from the outside while never directly saying they don't trust him.
It's just Subaru's been saving everyone's lives from surprise attacks ever since they started being suspicious of him so what's the point in asking? They've mostly concluded that his connection might be as some sort of victim of theirs instead(and however willing they were, the cultists under Petelgeuse also seem a bit like victims once you realise he was possessing their bodies to escape death and also mutilating other people's bodies while eating fingers etc).
The cult has a bunch of people act like suicide bombers, it's not unbelievable that they might have tortured and experimented on Subaru(and in fact the light novel for episode 15 felt basically like that, their chanting/spells and the miasma in that hidden cave seemed to do something with his witch factor which was tormenting him, I think they were trying to really make him join the cult and maybe a gospel really was about to show up if things went their way).

I've been so hyped for you to see this episode introducing 2 of the coolest characters in re zero. Also the fact that greed was able to take a direct attack from crushe which managed to cleave the white whale shows a lot about his strength.
Also fun fact: The strength of a archbishop depends on how well they represent their sin. Sloth represented it pretty badly so he is one of the weaker archbishops. But greed and gluttony represent their sins near perfectly which gives them a ton of strength.
this is really sad but if you notice Rem said "soon enough a hero will appear before us to rid us of all of you." Meaning in that moment Rem knew she would lose yet she still fought.

Doesn't Regulus seem a lot more prideful than greedy? I know about some of the 'things' that he has which definitely contribute to greed, but I just mean his attitude makes me think of pride, and not greed.

In one of the alternate paths of Re Zero (The main one you are watching is Envy), Pride If, Subaru actually becomes the Sin Archbishop of Pride, but in the main path, that slot is vacant
season 2 will contained tons of information to catch up, me currently watching season 2 for the second time and still having a hard time processing every new problems and events, every single second feel like there are at least 3 events happening simultaneasly, plus 25 episodes for the whole season

I feel like there are some details you missed in season 1. Petelgeuse mentioned that there are 6 seats of Sin Archbishops. Of the 6, only one is vacant, that is pride. That is why he suspected Subaru of being pride
In terms of magic, you probably know a bit about this, but there are 3 different types of magic we know so far :
1-> Normal magic - This is the one we see most in the show. They say some incantation like Shamac or Goa and things happen. For this to work, they consume mana from themselves, a spirit they have a contract with or draw it directly from the atmosphere like Rem does with her horn.
2-> Blessings - These are magical abilities that people are born with. Not everyone gets it but people who do can be powerful. Examples for this are, Felt who did a supersonic dash in the first episode (It's a type of Wind blessing), Crusch's lie detection abilities (Another type of Wind Blessing). Some animals are also born with blessings. Like the ground dragons, or that Boss Ulgarm that caused a lot of land slides in the mansion arc (It has a type of Earth Blessing) etc.

- Made 2 episodes into one.
- Removed few background characters in the first 2-3 episodes (CG people, they were so funny to watch ^^)
- i think in 2 places the censoring shadow was removed.
- Pauses extended in a few conversations. (To make it easier to notice something wrong here)
- Added the OVA Memory Snow (at least on Crunchyroll)
- To the disadvantage, the music pieces were changed or removed in a few places. Has changed the emotional experience greatly.
- Because 2 episodes were merged, I don't think the endings always fit.
As I said, it's just my opinion. They did a good job, but what was most important to me were the last two points that bothered me.
It varies from person to person.
As a LN reader, I can only recommend reading this. Only then do you realize how much has been cut and changed.
Many things are explained better. So much more question and speculate about. aaah my brain trembles.
But the anime stands up well as it is and I'm happy with how White Fox did it.
Some book adaptations could take an example from this.
If they really wanted to get everything in, they would have to double the number of episodes.
S1 and S2. But White Fox really uses every minute they can squeeze out in S2. In theory there are already 35 episodes instead of 25.
In the LN version of this episode during her very short and one sided fight against Greed and Gluttony Rem thought to herself that she hopes when Subaru finds out she had died that it would send a small ripple through his heart since she thinks her death wouldn't bother him much given that he has Emilia. Very tragic that she never knew just how much she truly means to him 😢
Regarding your comment about the length of Re:ZERO episodes, that brings up an excellent point of this Anime's production, so hopefully this info helps you appreciate it! - Back when this season ended, I sat down and charted out precisely how much extra content those behind this series have given us all along. (Nerdy-math details are that I added up and averaged how much time "normal" Anime episodes run vs. how much of that is taken up by recaps, the OP song, and the ED song, then noted down and compared that to the runtime of every Re:ZERO episode, and noted when/if the episode used an OP or ED.) The results were as follows:
The TLDNR is, in Season 1, Re:ZERO gives the audience a total of 1 hour 10 minutes and 30 seconds of EXTRA story. Another way to view that is, they gave us the equivalent of an extra three whole 23:30 episodes with no OP, ED, or recap.
Season 2 Part 1 (which bear in mind is only 13 episodes) gave us 1h 3m 10s of extra air time, or if you like, three uninterrupted 21:03 long episodes.
Season 2 Part 2 (only 12 episodes) gave us... 1h 31m 34s of extra content. The equivalent of four extra 22:53 long episodes, with no padding.
This is ASTOUNDING, when you consider that from a production standpoint, they had OPs+EDs made (art, animation, and the songs), paid for them to be made, AND DIDN'T USE THEM every episode, on top of nearly every episode EXCEEDING the usual broadcast TV length of an Anime episode, meaning that while this aired live on broadcast TV, they _cut into commercial airtime_ in order to give the audience the story they wanted to tell.
Studio White Fox & their Producers (KADOKAWA among others) really went to bat with Re:ZERO, to ensure we got as much story as possible in this form of media.

I liked that you had a disturbed face as you saw that Subaru immediately held a knife to his throat as his first choice to save Rem. Usually reactors would have no reaction to this, but I like that you had a disgusted reaction. Cos it shows how much you have come to care for Subaru. As a person and not just a fictional character we can all pretend is a strong entity that can do no wrong and save everyone.
After everything, he's just gonna leave this world and start again by killing himself? He's just gonna leave behind this world, full of people who respect and care about him without a second thought? This will be a constant theme for this season.
Its made even worse that the new checkpoint is too late, meaning Subaru can't rely on dying anymore as his only option. We've already seen how low Subaru thinks of himself in season 1, so this new development may threaten to bring back those tendencies of self hatred and blaming himself for not being able to do anything. Its something I appreciate about the writing of Re:Zero. Changing as a person doesn't mean there's no possibility you won't regress back to old habits. This may be the same for Subaru. I hope with every fiber of my being that Subaru remembers the lesson he learnt from Rem, to not shoulder the burden alone.
Season 2 episodes are all longer than normal episodes and some of them have after credit scense or scenes playing in the credits so reacting to 2 of them in the same video would make the reactions even longer than the director's cut reactions so I think you made the right choice

I've been wondering why the sub uses "Felis" (what it sounds like when the Japanese VAs say it) instead of the characters actual name "Felix".
It's not even a direct phonetic translation of the character's name in Katakana フェリス "Ferisu". The name being in Katakana means it's foreign and thus is meant to be "Felix". It's a harder name for the Japanese since they don't have the X sound, and R and L sounds are combined. Pretty sure this is why "hello" tends to sound like "herro" and "run" ends up softer like "lun", you pick up the extra wrong sound which makes it sound more like the opposite.
The scene at the end of the season wasn't in the original because they weren't yet sure there was going to be a second season. They included the scene in the director's cut to tease the second season they now knew was coming.
Something I learned recently: Did you ever figure out why the letter that went to Emilia's camp was blank? Who wrote that letter? When you consider the time frame, Rem and Crusch left immediately after the white whale battle while Subaru was still organizing everyone, waiting on Julius, getting the plan ready and having everyone get into position. By the time it came to explaining the blank letter to Subaru, Rem's name and memories were eaten. Rem wrote the letter and it went blank when she was 'deleted' from history, hence why everyone remembers it that way.

Its true that there is supremacy of authorities over divine protections, but its not right to put them higher than physical combat.
Reinhard is the strongest only thanks to his pure stats, only thanks to physical combat (and, well, anomaly gates). Its stated that even without protections he'll remain the strongest, which just underlines the fact that he's the strongest thanks to pure physical capabilities.
Reid is third only thanks to physical combat. Yes, he is heavenly sword, but what makes him third is his speed and strength (combined with swordsmaship) alone.
People like Cecilus, Halibel, Óni god, Iris and many other top tiers are also take their places mostly thanks to their physical capabilities. There is no reason for user of authority or divine protection to overestimate himself, when there is literally people capable of decapitating him and throwing his head to space in timeframe so small that user won't be able to even get thought about using authority / protection

This season is a masterpiece, so many characters are developed beyond Subaru, obviously, there will be several surprises and certain breaks in expectations about a certain character who is present with us the entire time. And well, your favorite character will shine a lot too as the arc has a big focus on her.
An interesting point to highlight is that during the scene where Lye attacks Rem, scenes of her from Sloth If are shown (which is an alternative story where she and Subaru run away together in ep 18 and get married and even have children, it's not really a spoiler That's because it's literally just an alternative story). A few more points to consider, I don't know if you noticed but regulous (archbishop of greed) has a defensive ability similar to gojo from jujutsu kaisen, the attacks that were directed at him simply disappeared into thin air and the reason for this is very interesting ( make your theories to find out why).
Another interesting fact, in the novel after the fight against the whale, Rem suggests to Subaru about being his second wife (this was before Subaru went after the Petelgeuse), Subaru says that if Emilia accepted then everything would be fine and it was That's what he was trying to talk to Emilia at the beginning of the episode.

Season 2 goes nuts with its episodes. Like I've never seen so much effort put into a show by both the studio and publisher that they *extend* the episodes on top of often leaving out the OP. Take that in the context that it's difficult to change the 23min length because it has to air on TV and extra time has to be paid for because it removes space for ads and commercials, and even cuts into the time for other shows. Not to mention the Japanese are very strict when it comes to that, everything has to come together smoothly. So it really goes to show just how much of a passion project this series has become
The reason the directors cut added in the who is rem scene, is because when season 1 first released, they weren't sure they would make more seasons. And I presume they didn't want to leave people on that cliffhanger for (was it 3 years before season 2 came out?)

I really like how when crusch attacks regulus, you can see that he doesn't even really notice he has been attacked until like a full second after it's been neutralized. Regulus's defensive aspect kinda just happens to him, and he is even called out as clumsy and untrained in the web novel. this is a small detail that kinda points to this. Kinda a if you know you know moment.

So..., Puck is not one of the OG 4 Great spirits yet he rivals them in power. In his giant form, he needs to alot of mana to maintain it which he forceably drains it from the surroundings, causing the area to freeze. He is the 'Beast of the End' suggesting that he is the Beast that will bring about the end of the world or appear at the end of the world.
Ma-beast refers to the Magic/Demonic/Witch Beast. the word 'Ma' can be interpreted differently under different contexts; it can be magic/demon/monster... Usually paired with other words to bring out the context. Like Ma-hou = magic / demonic spell; Ma-jou = magic woman (aka witch); Ma-ju = magic/demonic beast; Ma-ou = Demon King or Magic King depending on context and setting; etc..
Puck has the same VA as Rudeus and Emilia has the same VA as Megumin and Ai Hoshino.

There is a lot more things that were cutted out, so after finishing the season you really should go to the witchculttranslation and read the cut content

Each episode is s2 is about 30 mins, when u get to part 2 u will see this, and some of them have no openings and endings in the episodes.

The after credits scene regarding Emilia asking about Rem is different in the manga and potentially light novel. In the manga they were sitting in a field when Emilia asks Subaru who Rem is.

The after credits scene wasn't in the original, it ended with Subaru smiling at Emilia. Re Zero readers were waiting for the big bombshell to go off to see the anime only reactions but we're very disappointed. After this a long time later we got a season 2 teaser showing everyone dead and Subaru seeing a new character. Then a few weeks before season 2 started they released the after credits scene that you saw in the directors cut version as a stand alone thing. This shocked and also hyped people up for season 2.

The only reason they had a chance in the series it's because Subaru has RBD and they've could lay an ambush.

The second half of season 1, Subaru is with Rem, one of his love interests, and his goal was to save Emilia. Beginning of season 2 he is with Emilia, his other love interest, and his goal is to save Rem. I like the switch and Emilia will get to shine again this season. Also, this thing with Rem has become a meme in the fandom: "Who's Rem?" jokes everywhere lol.
Season 2! Lots of questions you had before would be answered soon but since this is Re Zero, the answer isn't going to be fun lol. It'd be fun to watch your reaction to them though. I'm excited!

in terms of strength amongst the archbishops, Greed is pretty close to the top, Gluttony is just a few paces behind Greed, and Sloth is about average. There are other abilities slightly higher and slightly lower than sloth, but you haven't been introduced to them yet so we won't get there.

here we go season 2. Indeed Re-Zero is not merely rough because of the gore(although that exists) the emotional toll it takes is not nearly so superficial.
recommendation watch the openings and endings even when not required, specifically because they only sometimes appear, the fact they are frequently cut to make extra room for anime content, and even the add time is sometimes cut for more anime content is another way in which re-zero is truly unique
And then we were shown two more archbishops...pretty crazy isn't it? This guy in white just stood there and Crusch didn’t even leave a scratch on him. This is a pretty scary power scaling, considering how much damage she dealt to the White Whale.
It was also very hard for me to watch this, because Rem is one of my favorite characters. It seems to me that the author decided to remove Rem from the plot so that she would not fight with Emilia over Subaru and he did not want it to turn into THIS type of story.
However...I'm still upset about it. You just can't get a drop of happiness in this story without a bucket of misery.
For the 2nd season I waited for just over 4 years and in the first episode of 2nd season where Emilia asks "who is Rem?" And after seeing the flashbacks I immediately thought "Ah here we go again"

Now, the episode lengths are because the decision was made to focus on fitting as much story as possible in each episode. The OP and ED are only shown a couple of times with those minutes used for more plot and there is almost no recap so maybe keep a couple of notes about names and events.
The result is each Episode is packed with story and is so well paced each ep feels about 10 minutes long and every episode ends with well placed cliffhangers. People wanting you to keep watching double episodes are partially doing it because most of these episodes are very hard to stop after. Its is a very bingeable season.
So here is a run down on how this show was shown.
First run of the TV series aired in 2016 and ended on the good note. There was no hint of what happened to Rem. Four years later, the director's cut was broadcast with the 'Who's Rem' ending. Then everyone had to wait from March to September to see the first episode of Season 2 and what happened to Rem.
Season 2 has a few scenes that are brutal to watch. Several more horrific than season one... so yeah.
Some thing to remember. Half the villagers and Emilia were on their way to meet up with Crusch while the other half went with Ram and Roswaal to "The Sanctuary." So far, this is all we know about the place. It was said a couple of times in the last two episodes but it is easy to miss.
Just know the Sanctuary was where Roswaal claimed the villagers would be safe from the Witch Cult, but, nothing else has been said about it.
What Puck said about 'taking care of Amelia' is the most confusing thing. It will get explained, but it will take a while. Just know you don't have an answer yet. Just take the clues in and it will make sense eventually, there were some hints in Frozen Bonds but not enough to solve the puzzle.
World Building wise. Some serious questions from Season One get answers but it only opens the door to even bigger questions. It is not a 'standard fantasy world.'
Prepare for some serious character developments.
Lastly, on the 7 deadly sins trope, this show does not use just the modern 7 sins. It calls back to older sins a couple of these are melancholy/depression and vanity/glory.
Get ready for one hell of a ride.
