I'm still so glad I was able to be here for this concert I almost couldn't get off of duty while stationed in Germany early enough to make it.. I had just bought my first few synthesizers and was starting to get involved in industrial music what a great time to be involved in industrial music and in Germany at the same time
Ex military?
You lucky soul. What a gig.
I am 67 yo and still listen to this band. They may be a little older like me but they still KICK ASS!!!
This film is a hidden gem!! Thank you for uploading it!😀😀❤❤👍👍👍
THIS IS THE BEST AND MOST HARDKICKING EBM KONSERT EVER BEEN MADE!
Nitzer at their very best.
false. look at DAF. the absolute creators of this sound and style. NE pretty duped it
Yes!
ebm? its industrial you douch
@@voodoodisco Who cares. Nitzer Ebb is better.
@@voodoodisco Also funny how you gloss over Severed Heads and Portion Control
Amazing someone had the brains to document this. Thanks a million!
seriously whoever has the camera is a hero, this is some of the best concert footage ive ever seen and its in fucking 1989
I love this comment!
Fuck yes I totally agree. I would do anything! To be there.
czcams.com/video/4fiZVsKKV7Q/video.html the original
This is Nitzer Ebb I miss and love.
I miss his old way of singing with the shouting.
Their first three albums❤️
@ Jae White....I absolutely agree !
100% Agree
I didn't like Big Hit at all
I concur
And with the drum kits!
I worked backstage security at the nitzer ebb Depeche mode concert in either 1988 or 1989 in Dallas, what a fricken killer concert !!!
I was at that show. I believe it was 1990 or 91. Starplex right? Nitzer Ebb opened for Depeche Mode. It was on the violator tour!
playing Blood Money twice? Fucking genius
I remember that there was a huge bass speaker system tube amp setup underneath the stage that just ripped your guts apart it was amazing
Ebb in their prime, love this band forever!
Cool, Nitzer Ebb was formed after a year (1982) that Front 242 was formed in 1981. Front 242 are the godfathers of EBM. And after all those years, both bands still exist
It only means front 242 started the race a year before them... Nitzer ebb are definitely pioneers of electronic music
The vocals are as energetic and raw as they are perfectly tight and controlled, wow!
A legendary live recording from the legendary Technoclub at Dorian Gray, Frankfurt. Miss you Dorian.
DG war echt gut.
my old band Pure Bunk had the pleasure of being their support act in Australia around 2006 I think....like a dream come true . Bon and Douglas were just great guys and I hope Douglas recovers to be well enough to delight us more on stage into the future .
this is ultimate! and great sound quality considering its from 89...good shit. i wish crowds were like that now
i was there... fuck i am old.. but still joining the chant
What an adventure
Best industrial band ever, much better than NIN in my opinion
is much better than NIN, because this is EBM not industrial.
+Alex H 2 totally different bands though, right?
This For sure
Their first 3 albums are sheer genius! I saw them on their Showtime club tour. Also when they opened for Depeche Mode on the Violator Tour.
Me too. Nothing like I had ever seen before.
I was born almost a decade after this show even happened and I’m so immeasurably thankful someone filmed it. The amount of times I’ve come back to this video over the past ten or so years has been ridiculous; an underrated gem of bootlegs. Such a perfect set from a band in their prime and a great crowd too. Fucking killer
are there any groups that still play music like this? i was born 1 year after this show... born too fucking late, this is what music should sound like
alienvomitsex Surprisingly YES! Industrial was and still is my favorite....I am now 48 and still listen to Ebb, KMFDM and Front 242. I didn’t think any one still made or made any decent music similar to this any more.
BUT....In my quest to find tracks for an Industrial mix that I want to do, I recently unearthed some artists with some tracks that are recent and that kick ass. Not a lot of vocals in the tracks that I have found so far though. Industrial just falls under the Techno, or EDM (ugh!) Umbrella now, so ya have to kind of dig here.. But, check out Broken English Club, Raudive, Tzusing (and be sure to check out his Boiler Room set here...trust me, it’s brutally awesome), Schwefelgelb, and Black Asteroid.
Hope this helps! Cheers!
I saw them in Paris during this tour. I remember the slap I received with the power of sound. Crazy energy group with Front 242.
Pure Energy in the good days
Best live EBM footage ever!!
even at this quality this might be the best version of Shame they ever did
The best hour, four minutes and fifty six seconds in my life happened right here. 29.03.24
I love Drive so much! My neighbour wants to move when i play this!
This is great piece of history. Thanks. I jam to this regularly.
Shit, I just realized that I am in the first rand. After 23 years I see myself in this video in Paris ... How does it feel funny. If I told myself that one day I would see in this concert .... wwwwaaaaahhhhhhh
Classic Nitzer Ebb!!!
OMFG!!!!!!!! it's 2022 and in 1989 i was only 14. i was barely getting into DM and had no idea NE even existed. Then DM rolls into town with the world violation tour and BOOM!!!! NE comes on stage and blows me away. DM who??? Gonna go see them this weekend with ministry and NIN in Ohio and my old ass is gonna go crazy! ;)
Thank god, someone recorded this! It is so 80ies! And… remember! This young lads created some real evergreens! And… noticed? The hair style, en vogue again.
Perfection.
Love this! Best EBM-band ever!
F love twa! Ty!
This was posted 13 yr ago and just came across my feed today. How did YT know I needed this. Man this brings me wayyy back
fucking perfect set.
found out about this band cause they opened for NIN at the Eden Project in Cornwall. long drive there so missed them. later found out they performed without Douglas McCarthy (main vocalist) that night, and I didn't know them that well at the time anyways so didn't care. but since then I've been listening to them a bunch. this shit is so cool and it hits hard. more people gotta hear it.
They’re incredible live, a must if you like NIN
Just drop me back in 1989 for this gig and bring me back afterwards (maybe:)
pure, raw energy
Oh! I was young once. Thanks!
Oh - genial! Danke!! Lift up your HEARTS!
The energy is relentless
Im freeking blown away by this amazing performance.. its flawless. Vocals are just raaawwwwww
Puré energy one of BEST converts ever
I WAS THERE !!!
So geil das hier zu finden 👍
Thanks for uploading !
Amazing! I saw them in Oslo on February 6th. 1989 on this tour! Such great memories!!! :D
Soooo good! I got to see them open for Depeche Mode on the Showtime tour in Chicago, and later got to see them again in Chicago at Cold Waves on the same night as Front 242 and Portion Control. Although the latter NE show felt a bit more like "Nitzer Lite" compared to shows from the era in this clip, it was still a great performance from these three legends (plus Light Asylum and two other more rock-leaning acts).
Thank you so much for this upload, sir!
Eye candy footage for old school rivetheads!
They sound so good live!
After that special night in Frankfurt we´ve never been to a concert with such an energy and power. We are still glad, that we had the chance to be part of this fantastic event. Don´t know how many people have squashed into this "fighting cage". Still getting goose bumps watching this clip.
I just love that 80's sound :) so sweet
the best live presentation!!
Saw them back then with my x girlfriend She screamed for him More than she ever did 2 me LOL!!
THATS WHY THEY ARE CALLED eXES
Saw them in April of the following year in Frankfurt, Germany @ a venue called Volksbildungsheim. A lot of great people of the time in the Frankfurt EBM scene were there as well. These were amazing times.
This is perfect EBM, if they are to be labeled at all… How about, just, Perfect. Yes, they make perfect music.
Wir waren auf diesem Konzert in Frankfurt Technoclub im Dorian Gray
I remember being around 16-17 years old and I bought Nitzer Ebb “Belief” white album it changed me forever!! It was deep, dark and haunting!! I still listen to that album more than any other album from them! TWA was my all time instrumental song ever!! Very deep! Thanks for sharing this and hearing them playing my favorite song in the beginning intro!
Love it! Great live! Amazing synths.
Thanks for sharing this! Never have seen them live, but love them.
Happy Bday Douglas!!!! You're still THE MAN!!!!!
These is great #backinthe80s
ID LOVE TO HEAR THEM IN THE ORIGINAL FORM ! IT REALLY SPEAKS VOLUMES , OR IT SPEAKS FOR US OLEDER LADS , THAT LIVED THROUGH THIS , a GOOD BAND !
the crazy guy in the front row is lovin him some nitzer ebb
fuck this is good.
French music producers never fail to dazzle the listener.. Plaisance is a gem of the early beginnings of the retrowave genre.. Snazzy, upscale hardware synthesizers, used the way they were meant to be showcased..
But popular mainstream hip hop and rap utilize synthesizers simply as a gimmick and the ultimate goal being to make money by cashing in on the commercial music scene.. no thank you!!
Synthwave/retrowave/chillwave and all related genres are WHY synthesizers were invented .... that's pure love!! I hate 99.9% of rap and hip hop...especially since 2000.. but 1995-1999 was the best time for hip hop and R&B..
In America, if you noticed or not.. and this is only for people who Generation X (1965-1977) and some Generation Y may remember the shift on FM radio in 1995... so anyone born 1977-1990 is Generation Y years i think...
I'd say 1995's album "Crazy Sexy Cool" by TLC (produced by Babyface) was the firing shot...
So anyone who doesn't remember or wasn't born or aware of music yet, from 1994 and before that to say... mid 1970s.. synthesizers were on a roll pushing into the great decade of the 1980s..
If you listened to Rock N Roll stations, it was British synth pop (early synthwave!) was on everyday... we had Wham!, ABC, Thompson Twins, Hall & Oates, A Flock Of Seagulls, Depeche Mode, etc!!
What a line up!
I own, according to websites with the most "Knowledge", every single one of their albums, records, CD's, recorded videos, shirts, and even an autopraphed Skin... From NITZER EBB, Hollywood, few years ago... YEAH!!!
Israel B please contact me then !
I,m a friend of Duc, hence we need to meet once !
I have all vinyls, cd’s and t,s
First time i saw them in 87, was not possible earlier here in Belgium

Israel B
I will be in January at the three day Scandinavian leg
Such a Violent Playground!
Two words: fucking good!!!
NITZER THANKS WE ARE THE EBB
I've watched this like 8 times in the past 5 days
Nitzer Ebb is great!
DUDE!! idk why I've never looked for NE live uploads on CZcams, considering I'm 51 and had begun listening to NE in high school, my 1st introduction was of course "That Total Age" and I was hooked on the blistering synths and macho basslines paired with Douglas over the top vocal style replete with his signature grunts and other noises..
So THANKS BIG to the channel, I subscribed to you.. you can really tell how energized the crowd was when "Violent Playground" started..
I'm also kicking myself for never having seen NE in concert and also never saw Depeche Mode.. Fuck I was class of 1990, I should have been at every cool band's concerts!!! There was great entertainment in the late 80s early 90s here in Florida, the old Power Station/The Asylum in Melbourne, Florida (not Australia) had so many great bands of that era grace the stage there.. also in Palm Bay at The Village Underground and Orlando's The Edge, as well as JJ Whispers/Six Feet Under/ Cyberzone..
I did manage to see all of these groups in that time: Skinny Puppy, Frontline Assembly, Pigface, The Cramps, The Jesus And Mary Chain, My Life With The Thrill Kill Kult, ChemLab, Nine Inch Nails, Cosmic Baby, CCCP, Cut Rate Box, Book Of Love, Gene Loves Jezebel, Lords Of Acid, A Split-Second, MC 900 Ft. Jesus, Severed Heads, Legendary Pinkdots, KMFDM, and several others.
Never got to see Front 242..
Thanks again for this blast from the past!
Thank God for you doing this. Wow. My shit right here. And Consolidated.... Kraftwerk led the way.
this is soooooo rad
Delicious . It was AWESOME coming up in these days :) Reynosa Mexico was my hangout on the weekends during high school. Best music has already been made
pure gold!
Just awesome.....must say...no wonder I plyed their music back in the 80's....in Japan.
I was hoping to see them live at m'era Luna this year, I hate the fact that it got cancelled.
thank god for youtube. this is how you reminisce the good ol days. thanx for the vid. keep rockin it steady yall.
another great show is MINISTRY , in case you didnt feel like showing up, live at Merriville!
Ich war auch live dabei! Best concert ever!
🙌🙌🙌🙌 will be seeing them in a couple of hours!!!
NINE INCH NAILS took a lot of their sounds from Nitzer Ebb.
and the rest they took from Skinny Puppy
In fairness everyone has their influences.
They all ripped off Roland.
Nitzer ebb took it from DAF and did it good
Great Show! ..wish I was there. Thanks for uploading this |m|
Murderous changed my life. hustle and hate
Great show! Yes, Technoclub. I loved those Friday evenings at the Dorian Grey.
Just perfect. Thank you.
KLASICOS DE KLASICOS .......................... PADRES DE LA INDUSTRIA}
thank you for posting this!
Interesting to see 'Getting Closer' played in the belief tour - I thought that wasn't played live until after the Showtime release
It takes a while for a record to hit the streets.
I was wondering the same. I saw them at the London Astoria during the Showtime tour and Getting Closer was the opening song for the concert. The place was in pandamonium when the song was played. Being from Los Angeles it was jaw dropping to witness a crowd (the ENTIRE crowd) bouncing in unison to the song. What a memory! I figured Getting Closer must have been released as a single at the time this concert took place but am not sure. What I am sure of was they were incredible to see live. But any of those types of bands were, such as Front 242 also. Wonderful stuff.
Getting Closer was the second single released from the Showtime album - the first being Lightening Man, this was well into 1990. I went to both the belief tour and Showtime tours - on the Showtime tours then and usually finished the set with Getting Closer. I cant remember them playing it in the Belief tour but it was so long ago now I could be wrong ... interesting. I do remember them playing an early version of Family Man at a Showtime gig at the Subterannia in Londond - this was before a while before it was released.
If I remember correctly the one song from the Showtime album they played at this concert was advertised as a "world premiere" back then.
they opened up for depeche mode in the forum in Montreal. epic
This is my 9th time watching this....
Great to hear, I have been a lot around in the FFM techno scene between 1986 and 1994, enjoying a lot of the weirdest techno, house, industrial, indie, rave and noise music of that time live there. Great times!
UN GROUPE DE OUFFF J ADORE
So...we probably met ;)
Been there too... Remember that this evening was one of the most awesome nights at technoclub. So many Technoheads! Great Sound on the parking area, everything was near perfect.
during Warsaw Ghetto they should of just let that guy rock out, he wasn't hurting anyone just boosting morale
Amazing, fucking Helllll!!!! What a performance! Energy.... pure.
To bad I was only born this year :/ great music
thank you
