In this video, I talk a bit about how I began mapping in the game Trackmania, and how I've improved throughout the months of my first year in the community. This video took over 100 hours to make in the span of a week as I downloaded premiere about a week ago, thought editing was kinda fun and decided to immediately make a video about my journey in this amazing game. I hope you guys enjoy watching it as much as I enjoyed making it.
I would like to especially thank Kubbi for letting me use their music, as it made the video more immersive than I ever imagined when I first started making it.
I would also like to thank Derpypirate, Eddiee0809, Bürd, Stoxenbawns, Tekky, Andi, Turtle and Eddysnowedin for being by my side in the making of this video, helping me out when I had questions or concerns.
And last but not least, Wirtual and all the other Trackmania content creators for inspiring me to make Trackmania videos in the first place.

I'm so impressed, that it only took you a year and a half to get this good at creating tracks. You have acquired so much knowledge about every single driving style, making you a very diverse mapper. That's also something I was striving towards, but took me twice as long to achieve... :D Great video
Dude your not wrong his style is so elegant and flowy and his scenery is so eye-catching. Honestly, if there's any mapper we should want to be like, it's Karlberg
Big video for a man with even more potential!
Suomi perkele

Kinda feels lika a wirtual video. xD
Very well made video and nice storyline :D
Haha i got some real deja vu :p but was a great video anyway
"...and then Karlberg... got this map."
@@TobiTheHuman nice one
@@olwstenberg1142 Wirtual's style isn't very unique in and of itself.
At the 11th minute, I thought:"Huh, he really stuck with that Karlberg map name pattern, kinda weird. Waaaaaait. It's probably just his username... Oh. Okay."
What a great video, was super interesting to watch :)
Thank you for being an inspiration to make tm videos^^
@@KarlbergTM this video gives me the urge to make maps in tmnf tbh.
WOAH didn't expect such a great video!
nice to see the comunity support each other
Instant sub, I love content like this, we need more mappers making narrated videos like this.
as I like to said omw ^^
"I'll show you my first ever map in TrackMania"
*shows a ESPORT map*
That was an interesting story. Very clean edit aswell. Looking forward to more kfs!
Hey,
First of all I want to say thank you for this amazing video.
I'm 14 years old and I've played the game for about 7month.
I'm an average player with the ability of getting decent times on maps if i grind them for a long time and rly learn the ins and outs of the track.
But one thing always made me enjoy the game even more was building the maps on my own.
I just build some weird ass maps with uncalculated corners not to mention gears.
But recently I've rly put huge effort into mapping.
The first ever try hard map i made was a grassy full speed map ...
Turns out it was calculated horrible but had quite cool scenery.
At the time i was still pretty inexperienced and didn't even know all of the features of the editor and so the only good thing about the map was that it looked decent.
A big mistake i made tho was that i build the scenery at the same time as the route, which eventually killed the map because all the ppl i gave it too said that stuff was calculated badly. After many hours of scenery building i couldn't be bothered to fix it so I moved on i stopped mapping for a while.
But then MTC June came and I wanted to submit a map and in the same moment add my first track to tmx.
I put a lot of effort into it and tried to improve what i did wrongly on the first map i created (and haven't released) and with some help by some friends i finished my map today. MTC blood rush. A dirt tech map with some eary, mars like scenery.
Btw Go Check it out on tmx if u like.
So why I'm writing this shit ass Long comment.
Basically i wanted to share my still short and small mapping story and express the inspiration I've gotten from this.
Also i wanted to motivate other ppl giving mapping a try.
It's really fun and often u can do better than u think. For me for example im rly happy with my scenery building already but my routes r still kinda meh one reason for it being that I'm still not that good of a player.
I will definitely rewatch this many times and try to improve not only my mapping but also my attitude in life in General.
Thank you very very much Karlberg
Thanks for sharing with us ! I will definitely put more efforts into mapping once I get more experience with the game.
You quickly became one of my favourite mappers, I still remember how much fun(and mald) I had hunting your TOTD Dirt map. Keep it up! :)
Trackmania has one of the best symbiotic relationships between skilled and artistic parts of the game. Its what keeps me coming back and playing for over a decade now.
This video is amazing, it's crazy to see how greatly you improved in such a short time, I now feel honored to play your maps, keep it up!
I need to say it directly to the mapper, your "very short" campaign was AMAZING !! after 8hrs of pure entertainment, I'm the first in italy !!
I am both surprised and happy that the algorithm has given me this video to watch. Surprised in a way that you don’t have much recognition on CZcams, but so much more within the TM2020 community itself. This video specifically should get more recognition IMO.
Instant heart from the creator: definitely should get more recognition
Wel, you’ll be going through the YT algorithm quite soon, this video is very high quality.
Keep em comming, king!
yes he did like and comment
Really nice video! btw 30:44 I was there :)
i absolutely love this video, not just for the production or story, but the fact that I can relate to a lot of what you said. I really love your work so far and know you have great things in store for us :)
Absolutely amazing video! really excited to see what videos and tracks you make in the future. Keep going!
What an inspiring video! It's awesome to see how far you've come, and so quickly too!
Can't wait to see the next maps you come to build, and it makes me want to try out the editor more too :D
i put this up on the family tv and i was put back in the will PogU
Played your tracks and they're just the right amount of challenge to keep me going for better times. Thank you!
great video man, took me on a journey and I learnt more about this game and community that I have just stumbled into, thank you.
This video is so inspiring to me. I've been a bit dormant in releasing maps and even building maps, and I haven't been improving as much as I'd want to. I will use similar things that you have to improve my mapping style and scenery style since I think my scenery is very plain. I am really impressed that you could get this far in just a year and a half. Good luck in your future maps bro! :D
As a person that has just started to map this was really motivating. There have been a lot of days of frustration. Seeing your journey has given further determination to stick it out. Thank you for your video, Great quality content :)
Nice documentary! Cool to see the journey and that you found your style and made into Waypoint academy. Will be interesting to see how the mapping and scenery style will involve as there is still a big potential. Keep it going. Also with the videos, nice to see the viewpoint from a fellow mapper.
I just started playing Trackmania NF ( after stumbling on Wirtual channel and because I wanted a new challenge ) and I appreciate the effort you put into mapping and into this video all together, wish you all the best and keep putting good content as we don't usually have an insight on how mappers think nor how do they evolve and I find it really interesting ( like watching a speedrun history video).
All the best You got my Sub
I don’t know nothing about TM(-NF) but your Video got me hooked up in an instant.
Seeing u progress as a mapper as well as a player was amazing. The comparison shows how much u have evolved, how u have dedicated to a certain topic that brought u this far. I love the style that u r following, a very simplistic but also detailed enough way to make it visually very appealing.
I’ve never supped some one this fast, hope to see more of u in the future and congrats on making it into the academy program!
Loved this video, looking forward to see you progress further both as a mapper and CZcamsr! Quality content, subbed!
Everyone of you guys taking your time to make content for this great game, deserves all the praise you can get.. Thank you..
Why is this so underrated, the narrating, detail, mapping skills and pure effort that went into this is incredible. Needless to say, you’ve earned yourself a subscriber :)
this is a very nice view from the other side of trackmanias community. really well done!
very intertaiming video and over all a awsome story. Really happy for you!! keep up the good work.
Great vid, insane quality - love the Runescape names
Wow, didn't think I'd like this as much as I did :D , great work man!
What a great video, you got yourself a new sub! I can’t wait to see what the future looks like for you as mapper and as a content creator. I’m really impressed with this video, wow!
I really hope you get bigger on youtube, you're content is amazing! I wish you good luck
I've played Trackmania for about 10-15 hours and has never made a single map for it, but that video really boosted my interest in the game and mapping particullary. I used to make maps for CS:GO, so I can see why that caught my interest. Thanks for the great content, keep it up!
Great video, i loved it so much i wish it lasted more than half an hour haha. Also congratulations and good luck on your mapping carreer, your maps are a pleasure to drive on.
Fantastic video. I love how much of Kubbi's soundtrack you used here.
I love this story and the editing is amazing! big props to you my fellow swede :)
Love the video! I will also be checking out your stream when you live!
Pog
this video is quite poggers ngl
"My first ever map: unnamed lol"
The way you said it was absolutely hilarious to me
Great video mate, great story! Keen to know what's next on your adventure
I love the editing style. I liked and subbed :)
Super interesting and very inspiring as a new mapper ! :)
amazing video karlberg glad to see you come this far
Your mapping improved as much as your naming scheme!
Great video :)
This video is insane! I want more of these ^^
This video inspires me everytime I watch it, ever since it was posted
when I'm watching this, it had 69k views. Pta, n o i c e. And, I'm a pretty bad mapper and since I don't make videos, I have no money. But, If I keep pushing, I might reach my goal. You inspired me to make new maps, and you guys should too. This has earned a subscription as he has worked on mapping for a long time. Keep the maps and videos up Kalberg! And look at how much support you have from the community! This video is amazing.
I don't even play TM. But as a mapper for other various games this was very inspiring and well put together video that Sparks motivation in me and very likely other mappers out there.
Gud va gött och grattis till vad du åstadkommit. Tack för videon.
very impressive video, I really enjoyed it, keep it up Karlberg
Very interesting video, i couldnt believe it when i saw you only have 3k subs like wth? Very good commentary and nice record of progression, good cuts etc.
Keep it up man :)
Great Video. You have a new sub :)
The intro makes an impression of wirtual types of videos xd And you did blow my mind by pronouncing "Karyen" instead of "Karjen" as i know it :D I didn't know that there is such a group of mappers - Waypoint, this is pretty cool. More content about map making/history as well as cool discoveries would be awesome. So, looking forward to more of your content. :)
Really enjoyed the video!!! Keep going man!!!
the pure quality of this video is amazing!
that outro made me cry
awesome vid would love more like this! :D
This is a very inspiring video! and it give me the urge to keep mapping!
Just a beautiful video. Well done for keeping my attention for over 30 minutes🔥
Crazy high production value right out of the gate, INSANE!
It's kind of rare to see this side of games, thank you for making this video!
Just one off those videos you just don’t want to end!
Kinda would like to get into mapping aswell, but ideas for routes have proven to be a big block for me personally.
Really respect the work of mappers ❤🇪🇪
This is really interesting and layed out in a really nice way :O
I'm watching your general tips portion of the video (20 minutes in) and I'd like to add something that frustrated me a lot as a beginner, something I've begun to call 'coinslots', where a turn or jump is coupled with a small gap between the road and the scenery, making you fall into it. Making it impossible to continue driving. As a beginner I would like to have the ability to continue driving my shitty attempt, knowing it will get bronze at best, but at least then I can finish my run
Dude you make the game for players. And you are making that game interesting and fun. Keep it up and well done!!!
I can relate the burn out thing. I work from 4 to 12 hours per day after regular work on a mod including mapping, coding, texturing and modeling and this since 6 years.
Take breaks when you feel the need to. Good luck.
Great video! love ur maps!
This is the kind of content that was missing in trackmania CZcams !
Spent many hours in the LOLmap server on tm² - Thanks Santa for keeping it running! Also - great video Karlberg
Really nice video idea, keep it up!
Really awesome vid you deserve more subs … keep up the good work
Great video, very interesting and inspiring!

2:02 i burst out lauging because I was hyped to find out what was the first map and you said “unamed lol” with such seriousness and I just died
Subscribed. Amazing video.
I was actually talking to raceta in his stream the other day while he was hunting map 10 and he was telling me to try out the VERY SHORT campaign. The clip of him hitting the world record actually clipped him talking about it. He said it was amazing for learning. This video was amazing I loved every second of it.
couldn't agree more, this is the Ultimate campaign to start with
Such and interesting and well edited video! It ddn't even feel like I just watched a 30 min video
i didn’t even know this Game existed today this just popped up in my recommendations and I like it
ive been beginning to make some maps in tm2020 after picking up the game last year, but as im new to the series, im worried that i dont have the physical skills to create tracks that are able to provide good transitions/gears etc.
great video!
Instant sub for mey your furst video i watched made me play tm again.
Thank you
You make me want to map again. Nice video^^
