As an italian I'm always baffled by your love for cupholders.
Basically no italian driver would allow drinking in his Alfa anyway, so those are just for sport :D
We spend so long in traffic jams they are essential!
My 2015 Renault Megane GT Line lacks cup holders too. Only one half hidden in front of the gear stick. The French must like to drink their beverages before they drive too.
They are slanted to remind you what Alfas are made for - driving pleasure. :D

I’ve got a the QV model, that cup holder in the back is a circular air vent with a tiny draw under it in mine.
I have the 150 bhp Bravo Tjet, tuned to 172 bhp. Although I like the looks of the Giulietta way more I recognise a lot of this video in my Bravo. Love the fact that it's a bit of a sleeper too. Although I don't have the dna button I fitted it with a stainless steel custom made end damper with dual pipes and when you rev it you really hear a great bleeerp somewhere from the back. Great cars and utterly reliable too. Thanks for your great video!

Good review. Looks like this sprint is a basic turismo version with a few cosmetic add-ons because the rear "ashtray" is actually a blanking plate for what is a rear air vent on plusher models.
do you mean the 45° cup holder (the ashtray is below it)? Because that would make sense as its the most ridiculous cup holder for storing liquids at an angle!
Yeah sorry, that's what I meant. I've got a lusso which has the air vent instead. I thought they all had one until I saw your video.
I think my 159 had the vent as well, it was only when I was really looking at this car I noticed that and the owner said he'd always been puzzled by it, I think you're right it must be the easiest way of blanking it and not making it look blanked, but at the same time almost useless-very Alfa! I love them but...

@@Sammie551 I was searching for long time for a Brera 2.2 JTS, but ended up buying a 159 2.2 JTS instead. It a great car.
Metal gear shifters are great if you dont live in Australia with our 40c summers. Had one once and used to have to have a thick rag handy to hold it with for when I'd forget to put on the windscreen sunshade lol
not to clever in the winter here either when you freeze to it!

Hi there, great video. I'm thinking about buying one of these 1.4 manual but never driven a Alpha before. Just wanted to know if you found the foot pedals were too close to each other as that would bug me? Also if the gear changes/clutch is smooth like; Ford, Honda, Audi? or is it tough like BMW manual gearboxes (which i do not like) as I find the clutch too heavy. (I'm not able to go & test drive due to Covid19 lockdown). would appreciate a reply, Thanks.

Great review! I agonized over getting one of these or a 159 a few months ago... ended up falling for the looks of the 159 even though I’m sure this drives better!
At some point my old 156 V6 will die or become un-affordable. I've thought about the 159 vs the Giulietta. Whilst the 159 is definitely prettier the Giulietta seems like the more well rounded package, it isn't huge like the 159 and I refuse to go Diesel. This 1.4 MA seems to be what I'd be after, especially a 170bhp one. It's either another Alfa Romeo or a mk5 Golf GTi, and I don't want a boring VW!
The only car to tempt me form 8 years of alfa 159ti is the Giulia veloce but still holding its money, but im very happy.
@@Negativvv Hope you didn't went with the Golf. I've owned a Giulia and got a Seat Leon FR (Which is basically a prettier Golf) as a cheaper to run car since I don't really use a car that much. 4 months later, I'm looking to sell it and get a Giulietta or 159. VAG cars are just so boring and uninspired.
@@gabrielmaria2762 the 156 went and got replaced with an old 8th gen Honda Civic. Which has been solidly reliable and cheap but very dull....

Fabulous review! I recently drove a 2011 Chrysler Delta with the same basic platform and 1.4 Multiair engine (detuned to 140 bhp), and so it would be interesting to drive the two back to back and see how they compare. Nice little review, thanks. Been an unyielding Alfisti since the 70’s so any new Alfa is a big deal for me. My brother in law has the 1.6 jtdm and I rib him about it not being a true Alfa! Joking of course, but, like you, had the bigger petrols and was initially a bit sniffy about a diesel under the bonnet. You are so right....nothing quite like an older Alfa and A.R. have had to swim in the dumbed-down river with all manufacturers, losing some raw appeal along the way. But credit to them, they still have the panache for us petrolheads and they know that to lose their sporting DNA would end the marque - Fiat ownership nearly did that! Anyway, back to the Giulietta; is it worthy of consideration? Of course, I’m tempted to get the missus one to sit next to my GT Q2.
I think I remember the Portuguese guy from Alfa Romeo? No problem youtube channel, who used to work for the Alfa dealer as a technician, said that Alfa changed about 90% of the parts on Giulietta (compared to the standard platfrom).
I do like these, looking at one recently, 6k options 8 years old for £3.5k.
How reliable are they?

I know I know, I had one chance to drive another car this week then storm gareth dumped all over us the rest of the week...really couldn't face getting under it in the tipping rain...hopefully it'll be dry at the weekend. At least the ramps look nice and bright
Such a cheap basic looking interior cheap dials etc. The radio looks like a Playmobil unit.
