As a female travelling alone, anywhere in this world. Be very very very careful. Who you talk to, associate with, where you go, what time of day and night and always be aware of your surroundings. Anywhere in the world, be careful. And always know, 'NO is a very good answer that requires no explanation.

Never give away ur bag to strangers. I know how i have to handle the africans in Nairobi and everywhere. Never give ur phonenumber away, never give money ander others, never show u where u are living
All the same i had trough and have a lot experience in all that 16 years. My best friend, a kenyan neighbor adviced me too a lot in my first year. All learned about.... Even matatus i use everytime if i need a travel to Nairobi or meru or other towns. Never i had a problem. All ur advice is all true and hope the whites believe it. Some tourists are very arrogant and think they know everything. Lol

I spent 5 months in DR Congo. Every time I left the hotel, I was crowded like Princess Diana. Everyone saw me as wealthy like Elon Musk. They saw me as the answer to all their dreams. Education for their child. Medical Care for their family. Like I had the power to fulfill all their dreams...like God. I finally had to leave because this treatment was so stressful. I really regret not tipping the rangers on my Gorilla Trek.

She mentioned in the video that you should tip the locals when they help you with directions but I think that’s wrong because they will expect it every time rather than doing it out of good faith. We don’t expect tips in the western world for pointing out directions so why should they in Africa expect it too!

When you ask for directions. Please don't behave like a damsel in distress. Don't allow someone to walk you somewhere. Just ask them 2 explain it and do the walking yourself. No tipping for that. And then you complain.

I have been robbed of phones in matatus but just to interject status are very safe.
    a) Never board a matatu where commuters are standing. Make sure their is an available sit.
b )Ensure that your back pack is on your chest or in front of you.(This applies to Tom Mboya Street also)
c)safe guard your handbag well when boarding a matatu
d)If sitted at the window avoid using your phone when the matatu stops in traffic or at a stage.
I disagree with you on the high fair price due to skin color,I leaved in Asia n all blacks we faced this problem.
The fact that you come from abroad, the assumption is always you have a lot of money ,thus the exploitation.

In a way, it is about color. The presumption is that white people in Nairobi are rich. So skin color is the main factor tbh. Especially the mat situations. However, these white low budget mzungu travellers are increasing and maybe Kenyans won't take that being white is equal to being rich.
