This was super helpful! Thanks for sharing.
I spent a few weeks section hiking around the passes in Oregon and Washington including an overnight from Timberline to Lolo Pass and back the next day and I have to say that a piece of my brain got stuck in a crack at the top of a ridge overlooking the canyons and alpine meadows and it took a month for me to get back to reality. I couldn’t focus on anything for more than 5 minutes before my mind started to wander. I can’t imagine the impact six months and 2600 miles must have had!
Glad to see forklift hikes is still going strong.
Have you thought about doing the ice age trail in Wisconsin?

That was a great update. It's good to hear you're doing well and moving forward.
I grew up in Cleveland (you might remember me telling you that on trail) and when I was young some of my favorite places to walk included:
-Metroparks, from the Polo fields along the Chagrin river and then Hawthorn Parkway down toward Shadow lake. It's surprisingly nice for an urban walk.
-Cuyahoga Valley Natl Park, of course
    -North Chagrin Reservation loops
    -Bedford Reservation, especially Tinker's Creek
-And about 2.5 hours away in the hills of western Pennsylvania there is a nice loop from Heart's Content campground in the Hickory Creek Wilderness, along with other nice trails in the Allegheny Nat'l Forest area.

Your re-integration comments and discussion about post-trail depression sound like the reverse culture shock I experience when I return home to the United States after long periods overseas in Asia for my work (I live abroad for three to five years at a time without any visits to the US). It's made more severe when others around you don't understand why from their point of view you seem to have changed in ways that they cannot easily comprehend. The good news is this is a process you will get through just like you were able to go through the process of adjusting to trail. Thank you for sharing your experiences and taking us along in your videos. It's been a pleasure and a priviledge. Good luck as you continue to work your way through your adjustments. Please keep in mind that no matter what happens:
The universe is right on time, and so are you.

Yes it’s definitely similar to reverse culture shock, which I experienced after studying abroad in South Africa as well. This felt a bit more intense than that previous experience since my study abroad was cut short due to covid but I agree it’s hard to really conceptualize how you’ve changed. It’s definitely hard but I’m glad I’ve changed for the better!

You're so lovely to share your experiences so honestly 😘
What a wonderful unique adventure and achievement that will always be part of how you live your life. May the inner strength and self confidence you've earned on trail continue to give you joy 💝🦘

    Great video!
This is a fairly common condition that is usually discussed too briefly. I think your evaluation of post trail depression is the best I’ve heard. Though it’s possible that your experiences resonate with me for similar reasons/feelings. Maybe another video (or two) would help future hikers. Maybe even a joint video with your hiking partner?

I agree! And I think my experience has evolved over the last couple months. I’d be happy to see if he has some input too! Thanks for the ideas :)

Being out in nature away from everything is so good for the soul.

Hey! I ended up finding out in June when we were in Bishop for our zero day, I talked to them on the phone and they agreed to push back my start to October!
