    Im from mn and its usually ok to pan unless its a state park

  • @DrFrankenFurterFilms
    @DrFrankenFurterFilms Před měsícem +4

    I want everyone who watches this to know, you cannot go to any stream in Minnesota to pan. You also CANNOT pan material that isn't under water. Taking from the bank like this is not allowed, per my emails with DNR: "Removing material from stream or river banks for gold panning is not allowed, due to erosion concerns and the disturbance to the natural river processes that shape the stream path, streambank size, and connection to flood plain. And when streams and rivers have bedrock or large boulders along their banks, the nooks and crannies that might trap gold and other heavy minerals are also a unique microhabitat to many important critters in the stream ecosystem."
    You also cannot pan any river. It must be Minnesota State land that isn't a state park. You *can* pan other rivers with permission from the land owner, but this doesn't seem like a legal location if I'm being honest. Also I can confirm that even a SMALL box is illegal. If you gold pan on private land, you CAN use a box, but only if none of the water reaches any source of river, and isnt a commercial operation. You cannot sell any gold you collect in Minnesota.
    I do applaud the effort of filling your holes, that is a good thing to do.

    • @GlacialGoldHunter

    If glaciers deposited gold into Minnesota's geologic nooks and crannies back in the day, then (thinking on a grand scale) might there be big chunks dropped up in the boundary waters and lakes regions? Like underwater? Would it make sense to dive for gold? Could the natural and limestone cave formations found in some places act as giant sluices? Thank you for your channel, interesting.

    • @GlacialGoldHunter
      @GlacialGoldHunter  Před 9 dny +1

      There is gold there but it’s not big gold so it’s probably not worth diving for. Not all gold deposits form big nuggets but there were and are producing gold mines in Ontario. At one time there was a gold rush around lake vermillion and rainy lake. It never produced much though.

    They word the laws/rules in mn like they’re writing clues for the mn winter carnival medallion hunt, and when you email them to get a straight answer you get another riddle as an answer

    I know this isn't a money making venture for you, You're doing it for fun and adventure. But non the less, I'm wondering how much that days intake might have weighed. How much is it worth by that days gold value?

      Hard to say without a scale but I’d guess like $4 worth. The gold is so thin and flat you can’t even feel it on the pan.
