I remember that scene at the funeral and found it overwhelmingly emotional. I thought Daniel did it justice. Beautifully played.

Came here to say this. I think we need to see Lan's skepticism and disdain for Rands immaturity, which will make the eventual mentor role he takes on so much more meaningful to the audience as he invests in Rands growth in martial skill and character.

Daniel Was a perfect casting for Lan, although I would have preferred he and Nynaeve kept the tension building longer before giving in. He fits the role just as I imagined Lan, a king is his own right. Delighted and looking forward to seeing this character development.
In the book it felt like forever.
that platonic, electrifying chemistry between Lan & Morraine is perfectly played by Rosamund and Daniel. Just perfect. the ceremony for Stepin was so intimate and heartbreaking. you could FEEL their pain, such a brilliant scene for all involved, esp the way Daniel portrayed that grief.
Book reader. Daniel is perfect casting, and Lan is my fav character. People new to the story, you ain't seen nothing yet from Lan Mandragoran.
I'm a show-only viewer, and Lan is also my fav character.

The part where he cried and screamed cause another warder died was so Lan.

They’ve changed the story so much it’s pointless to try to guard the story with spoiler free predictions.

@@48navinn24 Yeah, 5 wasn't great, most of the Stepin plotline should've been cut or shortened to give the other more important plotlines more time to play out (Perrin, Egwene & the Whitecloaks) but I really enjoyed episode 6, it was really good except for Mat staying behind, but they couldn't do anything about that, with the actor leaving the production and all.

I watched Wheel of Time just because of Daniel Henney, and he was really superb. He's a total hunk and terrific in action scenes, so the fantasy genre really suits him. The settings and costumes were like icing on the cake. I'm so glad to see an uptick in fantasy shows on Prime, and it's even more amazing to have them featuring my favorite actors!

I really like the actors on the characters. Even with some changes done, I don't mind. Everything important for me was that there is a Wheel of Time TV show. Now after season 1 ends and waiting for season 2 to be even more and better. High expectations --> high rewards.
This show is awesome! I am a big fan of the books and it is a real pleasure for me to see them delivered to the screen like that. Rosamund Pike, Daniel Henney and the rest of the cast they are all gorgeous!

@Cole Johnson the character was built up to show the devastating affect of losing an Aes Sedai for a warder. It wasn't just to kill him off.
I can't wait for episodes seven and eight.
I adore it. My partner read the stories when he was younger and loved them, mentioned them to me and now I've started to read them. But I'm loving the way the show is playing out, and the representation. Not only for LGBT, but people of colour, different relationships (poly, platonic etc) it's amazing to be able to watch such incredible people on screen and feel connected to them
I have not read the books (yet!), But I am loving the show so far! And Daniel, your Lan is my favorite character, by far, this far! So well done, sir 👌

Although I kind of enjoy watching an adaptation with little familiarity, I can just take it in and enjoy it for what it is without anything to compare it to. 😊 So I'm not in a big hurry.

Emotional telepathy is something very real and is only possible among people who have reached certain emotional and mental maturity. Empaths are usually the best at understanding this. The actors who can convey such feelings and transfer them to others are masters in their ways.
Love the show and loved the books!
I enjoyed Episode 6. My only problem is how they have changed the appearance, location and working of the Waygates as that will have an impact in later series.
1. Appearance and location. Sure these ones look cool, but they are meant to be hidden and just outside where steadings are/were (and most major cities were built around steadings). That could have been partly resolved if there had been a line from one of the Two Rivers characters saying "Oh, there's something like this in the Mountains of Mist" (which might have given Moiraine and Lan a clue as to how the trollocs and fade reached the Two Rivers unseen). Now instead of finding them through an Ogier sensing their presence, one can simply draw a sketch and ask if anyone has seen something like it nearby.
2. How they are opened/closed. Having them opened by the One Power is problematic - in the books they could be opened that way, but it would leave that gate permanently open. If they need a channeler to open/close them then how could they be used by anyone else? It also begs the question of how Moiraine knows the weave to open them.
3. Not being able to take horses through the Ways. A change from the books, but a reasonable one - I imagine that they couldn't take the horses into the studio where they film the scenes in the Ways. Although it then begs the question of how the Fade had one in Eps 1 & 2.
Alvaro Morte is absolutely nailing it as Logain.
These questions are very true. There have been inconsistencies all throughout the filming. But am really glad that it is being filmed.
@@Ngarascrafts Yup. The other obvious ones are:
1. Female Aes Sedai who appear to be very strong in Earth weaves (Liandrin in the cold open for Ep1; several in Ep4 when Logain's followers attack the camp). Female channelers are rarely strong in Earth weaves in the books, unless "forced" in training.
2. The location of the Two Rivers against a cliff in the middle of a forest, rather than surrounded by farmland. Although with the village burned down, they could rebuild in a more open location - important for a story in I'm guessing Season 3.
They might still have keys. The Tar Valon gate might be only accessible by the power.
@@Heidelmann True, they could still have keys. But as the Ways and Waygates were grown and built by the Ogier, how would they have made one which can only be opened using the One Power?
WRT #3, that also creates problems in the later books.

I 100% knew the dagger was what was messing with Matt... like literally the warder said don't touch anything period... so the fact that he was having issues was very apparent it was from the dagger

From what I understand, Matt was supposed to go through the way gate with everyone else. This was when Barney Harris had to leave the show and they did the best they could to cover that.

Ditto... HUGE fan of the books... read them as they were published... own hardcovers ...then read again × 8... then discovered the unabridged audio books with Kate Reading & Michael Kramer... have listened to the entire series over 20 times.
Have not viewed anything other than the teasers, interviews, and shared clips... waiting until I have regular access.

I think Daniel Greene said it best with Representation that isn't forced. I never had a problem with much of what "Hollywood" has tried to do with progressiveness, just that it has been forced and poorly executed. Now we are getting amazing quality progressive everything....I fricken love it!

When I see Daniel Henney in an interview I still think he is too good looking to be Lan, then I see him on the show and I know he is Lan. Weird
He looks almost exactly like I pictured him in my head. Even Asian because Sheinar has Asian sounding names and malkier is next door.

I am enjoying the tv series .. It does take me into the series. While throwing in a few changes that allow it to be condensed onto film.

As a person who has not read the books i love this show. The locations are really cool looking and i love the characters and the actors (considering many of them don't have big acting profile) are killing it. Not once i felt that is an actor portraying a role but i feel like i am watching the characters from the story.
I hope this show does well and gets more seasons i am ready to be invested and obsessed with it, just don't crush my heart and soul by cancelling it.
I hope that Loial is going to open waygates in the future...not just Moiraine and other Aes Sedai

I doubted that Moiraine used traveling to meet Siuan Sanche. Instead I assumed that she used a ter'angreal to enter tel'aran'rhiod and met Siuan there.

I can see why some people are upset. I’m a little over halfway thru Eye of the World, and it does seem like the story in there would be better. So far this seems like Eye of the World: The B Side.

Despite that, I am enjoying it (and thinking of it as a separate entity from the books) and I too am a big fan of the series, read it in the 90s.

awesome #6 is really good episode.
I thought the exile scene was overdone. Just the night before, they were all "if anyone knew what we are about (both regarding their search, and that they actually DON'T hate one another), we'd be stilled". And here they wear their emotions on their faces, and Moiraine adding lines to the oath should have been a red flag for a bunch of women that will read something into every twitch of an eye lash. Aes Sedai aren't known for openly showing emotions, really. I get what the intent was, but it seemed out of character for them.
That said, enjoying this ride so far for the most part. I have some issues with ~some~ of the changes, but the actors are doing a wonderful job in bringing the soul of the books to life!
I've seen a number of reviews by non book readers who thought or suspected the dagger to be Mat's problem.
Can you start uploading in 4K? It's 2021, it's time to upgrade.
Daniel was the total opposite of my head canon for Lan... but he is perfect! My head canon now only sees Daniel as Lan.
(My head canon was was a hulking Micheal Dorn)

@@dassadec Bela got ditched all the way back in Shadar Logoth. She's either found her way back to Two Rivers, got stuck on the other side of Taren's Ferry without a boat to carry her across, or ended up as Trolloc stew. Then again, she is the Creator so anything is possible.
