My high school foot ball coach was such a man, giving boys what they needed most, developing all of us into strong and confident men along the way. A lesson I've held onto my entire life through my military career and now through retirement. America needs these men of character now more than ever because what will happen to this great nation when the next war comes to our shores and there are none left.

As someone who served from 2013-2019 in the Marine Corps and now in the Army as an officer, I saw the complete deterioration of our youth. The marines I was in charge of were wimps. The soldiers are even worse. This nation is not ready for another war. We need to return masculinity to our schools or this country is living its last days.

@@buddybuythis3889 Exactly! And another part of the problem is he is based in Canada. Canadian actors, no matter how good they are, DO NOT get the same treatment in the U.S. Film industry as actors from Los Angeles or New York. It really sucks. Toronto has an amazing job market for actors, especially for TV, since so many shows film up there. But it also traps Canadian actors into a local market. It's tough for them to get into SAG, audition in Los Angeles, and break out in Los Angeles. It's not impossible, but not easy. Durand has been a quality actor for a LONG time, but like many great Canadian actors, has had trouble breaking out of the C and B lists.

Kevin is totally underrated as a character actor. He has an unusual look - not unhandsome - but he's not conventionally leading man material and I think that's why he may be overlooked. But I would put him against a Cruise or a Craig or a Pitt any day of the week (and I'm just listing off leading men, not necessarily good actors). He's done a couple of 'okay' (or maybe not so okay ) movies in 'Legion' and "Dark was the Night", but he made those roles so stand-out. Those movies are worth watching for him alone. In Legion, he's particularly engaging as Gabriel - tormented, dedicated. Now I have to go watch it again!

I work in a factory. When I started, everyone talked about the Plant Manager.
How tough he was, how at any moment he would just appear, seemly from nowhere.
You better be doing something productive, after all we are paying you.
Day or night, weekends, or holidays when we were closed, he may just show up.
After all, there was a couple of guys there to watch the boilers, and fire alarms.
They were getting paid. Holiday pay, and maybe overtime. You were not going to just sit around. Many talked bad about how tough he was, but I always felt I knew where I
stood, and what they expected of us. He was fair, and in the end, he has a lot of respect from many. He was a Korean War Veteran, who worked his way to an Engineering Degree, after the war on the G.I.Bill. The Colonel kinda reminds me of the old
    Plant Manager.

He often lectured to others at how I was always 5-10 mins early. I went "online" at a specific time, not pull into the parking lot. After about 4 months, he had to direct me to take a day off. I was given tremendous freedoms because I did not require any supervision. Our department accomplished many things. I knew Kevin when he lived in Vancouver and we worked on Beggars & Choosers so it is such a pleasure to see him in a big Starring Role. In real life he is a positive, funny and caring gentleman who also works out very hard. I used to also see Kevin in the Dunbar gym as well which was also Kevin Sorbo's gym, but that is where the comparison ends. Kevin Durand is a guy who would give you the shirt off his back and he has a wonderful outlook on life. When he was young he learned Ballet but he did also play Hockey like a good Canadian boy. No, because then we would loose a lot of qualified, intelligent students to brutalism. Not everyone _is_ capable of enduring the shown training without mental consequences. Not everyone "has to be broken physically" to become "a grown man" (gender in the context of this film).

This isn't about abuse. This is about raising strong boys so they can become strong men. Strong men are an essential role of our existence. Weak boys turn into weak men. Weak men create hard times. Mankind has proven that repeatedly throughout history as an irrefutable fact, and we somehow just keep circling back to it over and over.

For some reason, for a while whenever I used to see this actor, I only thought back to the part he played in the movie; Walking Tall with Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson. He played a backwoods, hillbilly thug named Booth. But, I must admit over time, the body of work I have seen him do since by this fine Canadian actor, he has shown a very good range of acting ability. Not to mention, he’s an avid, die-hard Montreal Canadiens fan. So, I admire him even more. I look forward to seeing this movie.

He was a hardass that caught flack from other PE teachers & coaches with comments like "They're kids, not soldiers," and "This is high school, not military school." One day after hearing one of those slurs half our class went over to that other teacher and told him we love how our teacher pushes us and to mind his own damn business. I ended up with six-pack abs because of him. _"Pain is weakness leaving the body!"_

"The ones who need football the most are, at first, the least inclined to play it"
Bingo! School coaches too often treat their team and kids as if it is college/professional level, where their job is dictated by success, they take the easiest route. All it teaches is to become complacent and take that easy route, until one day football won't exist because we are forced to focus on the consequences of the responsibilities we let get away from us.
