Hi Adrian, the key is to start small and only invest bit by bit, this is called dollar cost averaging. Personally I look at index funds and depending on where you are you can start investing in these through a tax advantage account.so for the UK an ISA or for the USA a Roth IRA. It’s great to set a plan for retirement but without starting an action plan it can not happen. Remember your money in the bank is currently losing 7% for the last year . Thanks for doing what you do, I'm 19 already started working in my career of choice (computer programming), investing in mutual funds and take your advice seriously. I'm hoping to retire by 35 and I think I have a good shot because of how fast a programmers salary climbs in even as little as 3 years! I just have to keep my expenses at a comfortable level and hopefully keep it consistent even when I get salary raises so I have more to invest!

Although I'm not Mark, and I'm not a millionaire, I do have some advice. In your coming years, don't waste money on things you think other people will find cool, don't get a credit card (if you do get one use it very wisely). Do not become a victim of consumer debt. Your studies are important, but remember to have fun and enjoy your life while you're young. If you go to University, make sure you study something you're passionate about, something you won't find boring (this is important as Uni is generally quite boring). Don't be afraid to explore options while you're young.

Hi Mark, I have been watching you for a while now and enjoy the content except when you say what to do in your 20's, I wish someone had given me knowledge back then... Now 40 I have little cash reserves, no investments and no real Retirment pot which needs to be resolved ASAP I followed my own path as the knowledge wasn't there when I was young, I've put all my money into the mortgage and at 35 had a £500k+ property paid off and mine, my hobby is car building and have good money tied up in the cars C.£100k and I see not all as not a liability as the choice of cars are investment and can be sold if I fell on hard time (some cars better than gold I feel...) Certainly inflation proof car choice on a few. I am business owner and do what I want when I want and enjoy my freedom. I do what I can to provide for my family which I am very proud to be able to do this and have time as I needed it - even if that means I have just finished work so I can have a day with family. I've always had a second job as you point out as a side hustle (I have been a busy fool at times) my side hustle has been hobby based and this has always kept pocket money there to put into hobbies, though I should have invested it looking at the advice you suggest. Next I need to invest in my retirement, I am happy to retire at 60 as I enjoy what I do, I see an interesting 20 years of making retirement happen. I need to enjoy what I do laugh and feel like I have accomplished good things. Hi, if it was me I would set a spend limit because you will want to buy your self something like holiday , car etc. So say 50k . The rest needs to go to work for you , I personally would buy real estate and lump sum an index fund. What you do has to suit you but it’s a life changing amount of money if used correctly. It’s important that you make sure that money does something for you rather than just leaving it in an account, as each year that passes it will lose value due to inflation! Real estate would be a great idea because property prices just keep going up, and if you’re currently renting or paying a mortgage then you can get your own property or pay off your mortgage early so more of your pay check goes into your pocket

Id love to be able to make money for myself. Ive had plenty of ideas but it's just not possible in my current situation. I'm in too much debt where I can only afford to make the minimum payments which leaves nothing to myself a month. Feels like I'm an actual slave. Can't wait to clear my debts and make a start working for myself and make my own money!

Hi, if it was me I would set a spend limit because you will want to buy your self something like holiday , car etc. So say 50k . The rest needs to go to work for you , I personally would buy real estate and lump sum an index fund. What you do has to suit you but it’s a life changing amount of money if used correctly. I agree with what Mark said. It’s important that you make sure that money does something for you rather than just leaving it in an account, as each year that passes it will lose value due to inflation! Real estate would be a great idea because property prices just keep going up, and if you’re currently renting or paying a mortgage then you can get your own property or pay off your mortgage early so more of your pay check goes into your pocket

Kudos for including bitcoin as most fiat currencies are facing total collapse within this generation. It is good to have assets that will survive a currency collapse.

Id love to be able to make money for myself. Ive had plenty of ideas but it's just not possible in my current situation. I'm in too much debt where I can only afford to make the minimum payments which leaves nothing to myself a month. Feels like I'm an actual slave. Can't wait to clear my debts and make a start working for myself and make my own money!
