Thanks for posting this. The firmware update instructions say to connect a 4-pin XLR AC adapter during the update, which does not seem to be included with the camera. I found a generic chinese one in our store room but it doesn't seem to provide enough power to the camera. Now that I have seen you perform the update with only a battery plugged in, I will do the same. I didn't want to stray from the instructions at all on a $12,000 camera but you have shown it to be safe to do so.

It's a bit scary, but perfectly safe. Be sure to use a full battery, as the only risk is the battery dyeing or being removed.
