  • Best known for his “Hopper Meditations" series, Richard Tuschman creates miniature diorama stages into which he digitally inserts human actors to create lush, atmospheric and psychologically charged depictions of ordinary lives. Tuschman will discuss his practice and his current project, Once Upon A Time in Kazimierz, an open-ended novella told in still photographs.

When you say ‘the dioramas are time consuming’ in that there is no doubt. I am amazed at the detail and the realism that you create.
Thank you very much for this video explaining the process.

Great video, love all of Richard's work. I wish I was at the presentation. I would love to know how he went about making the curtains and lighting shown at 40:00.

Interesting process. However, the 3 people dining at around 34:11 just does not work as the defocusing of various elements makes them look like they're in a doll's house and the image looks really fake. It's great when it works but looks terrible when it doesn't

Great content, but when EVERY sentence started with: "Ahmmmm..." it became hard to watch!

How does he manage to get such big people into a small set? Is this Jewish magic? Would Issac Bashivas Singer laugh at such antics?
