There has been a great deal of speculation about what he might say, given that the war in Ukraine is not going as hoped, and there are no major victories for him to celebrate.

The translation of the speech is sometimes incorrect. The translator skipped over any religious terminology for example. She didn’t say the word faith for example but said culture instead. It’s a shame. The translator should translate what is said exactly not censor. It limits the ability of listeners to understand the cultural context correctly. I also noticed that the translator replaced the word defend with the word attack. This is also a shame. Everyone knows it is Putin speaking, there’s no need to make him seem more aggressive than he is.
Real-time translation is really really HARD. You can't expect it to be anywhere near perfect.

Personally I see control with threat of violence and war being pushed under the guise of democracy, I see the country of Ukraine and its people being weaponised by the west and being led into open war instead of peace talks.
Zelensky has made a choice through and with NATO not to negotiate with Russia and so they are just as responsible for this as Putin.
To me your view seems to be if others don't have the same belief or "democratic values" that gives the right to defend the values "at any price"... which sounds very much like what the Russians appear to be defending with regards to their security and cultural beliefs... whether understood or not we must have all the facts to form a reliable perspective.
I feel like much is being hidden from the public with regards to this conflict. I've seen no concrete evidence of "war crimes" or Putin behaving like someone who is crazy and I may be wrong however accusations mascarading as facts are a bit far cooked for me to be convinced. That is guilty before a trial and this to me is neither justice or democratic.

Total personnel in this years parade is 10,000. Russians killed so far in Ukraine ranges from 15,000 to 25,000 with three times that number injured. Imagine every person in this parade plus at least half as many again dead because of Putin's ego. Wonder how he sleeps at night?
